I like the new Season 4 posters, but wanted to talk about the apparent negative reaction to the Season 3 DVD cover by saying that I really don't get what all the fuss is about. This show has revolved and always will revolve around its main cast, particularly Robert, Ginny, Josh, and Regina, even if the overall storyline(s) for a given season are not being expressly driven by them, as was the case in Season 3.

Using non-regular characters to drive the lead-up marketing for a given season is fine, particularly if said characters are going to be featured prominently in the plot for the season, but when it comes to things like the DVD covers, the main cast members are going to be the ones who get featured the most even if they're not specifically driving the overall narrative for the season.

Well thus far each seasons cover had a theme based on the season. Season 2 had the smoke invading storybrooke which was very fitting, the back of the box of season three even completely ignored pan and oz from any pics, and instead just chose pretty sterile pictures. From a design perspective it really doesnt depict the season what so ever and it was incredibly safe and boring

Dont be too sure. They did a decent amount for #wickediscoming and used none of it for the season 3 dvd

Well, I think the split season format makes it difficult. I can understand them not playing up the Oz of it all, when anyone who wasn't watching the show as it aired is going to be confused when there's no Oz presence until episode 12. I think that'll be very different this time around. For one thing, the Frozen stuff will be immediate AND Frozen is Disney's bread and butter at the moment. I think the S4 boxed set will be very Frozen-related.

Yeah I am 95% sure that dvd will be one of these two posters. But even the posters for 3A were lackluster.

This was about as creative as they got, it's decent but nothing to exciting.

I don't know what the line of thinking was with the main poster for 3A. Season 2 left off with the characters literally heading down a void into Neverland..... and they use an image of Regina with the poisoned apple for the poster? That's season 1 imagery, not season 3.

Yeah it made no sense. I just saw this fanmade poster and it would be a great character one for S4

And I am somewhat surprised that they havent tried to recreate any of the animated movies posters apart from Elsas.

They should've set the DVD cover up like this one...

With those images from the "Believe that ____" character posters at the top, with the Jolly Roger against the moonlight at the bottom. It wouldn't have been especially great, but I would've taken it over the Regina solo cover.

Yeah I thought the Season 3 cover would have been the Jolly Roger with the Wicked Witch flying around in the sky or slip case being the Jolly Roger and the actual case being the Wicked Witch on main street paved with yellow bricks.

The season 3 DVD cover would have been perfect if it was created for season 1 but on season 3 it was out of place. For season 4 I can see one of these new Elsa/Frozen posters as the main and then Maleficent and her theme on the back.

Maleficent hasn't penetrated pop culture like Frozen has, IMO.

I disagree the first seasons cover showed the transition of fairy tale land to story brook, and the second seasons DVD cover showed Emma getting engulfed in the magic that had arrived to story brook. Both are themes of their respective seasons.

Did you see how cocreator Adam Horowitz tweeted the title for Episode 7? Well, take that and add in the fact that for that episode they’re guest-casting the “strong, intelligent and beautiful” middle sister of three, a blue-eyed blonde in her late 20s/early 30s who “always puts her sisters first.” Oh, and the three of ‘em are off to a fancy ball….

So, I'm guessing [blackout]Elizabeth Mitchell is that character and perhaps Elsa and Anna's mother is one of the other sisters?[/blackout]

That's not true at all.. Season 2's DVD perfectly showed impending doom of the purple smoke... which was indeed showing a plot point of Season 2....

Animated Mal has been all over the place. she's just not "AS" popular. but then again, almost everything in media almost isn't "AS" popular as the FROZEN crew currently.
