Maybe I'm wrong for this, but I thought the thing about Ruby being attracted to women kind of came out of nowhere; and also fast. There was never really any indication of it in the past especially with her having a boyfriend and being attracted to Gus.

It was pretty bad. Again, suddenly, someone is in love with someone and true love's kiss saves the day and oh sleeping curse again.

It's a fairy tale. True love at first sight is a thing.

Yeah I know because everyone in this show has to have a love interest.

not gonna lie the classic fairy tale trope of seeing a prince wake a sleeping princess... was fun to see as 2 girls. so i don't have a problem with that... I thought it was pretty nice actually.

Exactly.

Yeah I know because everyone in this show has to have a love interest.

This is not the case at all. However, when they do choose to introduce a romance for a particular pair of characters, they've established a pattern for doing so that needs to be maintained for the sake of consistency, which is exactly why they did what they did re: Ruby and Dorothy.

They didn't want the relationship to "stand out" - at least in terms of the way it was executed - from any of the other relationships on the show, and rightfully so.

Snow White and Prince Charming
Captain Hook and Emma Swan
Rumplestiltskin and Belle
Robin Hood and Regina
Wicked Witch and Hades
and now Red and Dorothy...

you know there's a pattern to this show and its one of many repetitive things about this show. Everything revolves around love, being loved, wanted to be loved, love is the main motivation and IMO, this show had enough of it. Next time, it would be Cruella de Vil getting her happy ending through true love's kiss.

love is kinda a big deal to both fairy tales and disney...

And its okay that they need to drag it and force it to the show??? Yeah no wonder the show gets repetitive because Disney and fairy tales are all about love and we need to witness that in every character, doesn't matter if its another filler episode. Someone already said that this Ruby/Dorothy already came out of nowhere and that is supposed to be good?

i don't think the true love aspect is what's hurting the show.. it's the flash backs, slugish pace, and refusal to let go of some characters that's the problem...

this show should have been a revolving door (though still centered on Emma)

freeing up dead weight would allow for more character development of others... like Ruby/Dorothy

The true love aspect is also what hurts the show because they keep using it/FORCing it to the characters just to develop them or give them something else to do. Anyway, its just one of the many problems with the show.

you're really not comprehending...

the true love is FORCED for a reason.. not enough time or ability to flesh out other characters because we get the same stale old ones over and over... the "true love" aspect isn't the problem.. is the lack of time developing it which is caused by the over-used characters that are boring everyone

That and it seems half of the villains are Rumple and the other half are ones he has been involved with in the past.

I still think the shows biggest problem is the half season approach.
That way you have to cramp in too much in too little space.

You dont need to get rid of characters, you just need to change the pacing to have enough room for them.
The half season thing is easier to shoot, but its really hurting the show.

Anyway...
I dont really have a problem with Ruby/Dorothy, other couples and shows have done a one episode created romance before.
The problem i have is that it sidelined Mulan again and didnt really felt organic.

They said that the episode with Mulan, Ruby and Merida was there to start the LGBT story and make it feel organic...then they tell a True Love story in one episode that had way too much stuff in there...that was not organic.

But when you look at it without all this, the Ruby/Dorothy story was quite nice.
The True Love Kiss was really lovely.

Other then that, Belle feels like the dumbest character in the show.
She seeks all kind of help...just not the one from the heroes...the people who actually defeat villians and stop plans.
Why would you go to Zelena or your lying, betraying garbage ******* of husband...when you have 8 "heroes" in your reach?

Hades continues to be a postiive thing this season, by far the best villian the show had imo.

Nah, the half season format is usually fine, if they have it plotted out correctly. Though I would've loved a full season of Dark Swan, the thought of a full season of Neverland or Frozen, or in the Underworld would've been torture.

The show has been consistently formulaic, which is fine if the formula works. But OUAT's formula has worn thin and it has begun to sour. I don't mind their ideas but their methods are not working and haven't been since at least the Frozen arc for me.

Neverland could have told us more about Emma feeling like a orphan, more about Snow, Charming and Emmas relationship, fleshed out hooks backstory or developed Pan more.

Frozen could have told us more about Emma and her magic and how it slowly gets out of hande etc.

In a show like this, you can always find a way to give more backstory to everything.
Frozen and Neverland worked with the half season, but Dark swan should have been THE storyline...yet it was thrown at us in a half season that left soo much out.

Neverland was the worst time of the show for me, I couldn't stand Peter Pan (I still think him being Rumple's dad is ridiculous) and they (the Heroes) pretty much just roamed the forest most of the time when they got to Neverland.

While Frozen was not even the producer's original idea.... correct me if I'm wrong but from what I heard, they were told by ABC or Disney to adapt Frozen to the TV series. So when season 4 started, they were already teasing storylines for the second half of the season (finding the author/Merlin's hat) while Frozen was thrown in the middle of it. The Frozen characters didn't even have the winter finale for themselves because the show was about so ready to move on to the next phase. And the Snow Queen sacrifice was so cheesey!

Wasted the potential of David meeting his brother. That would've been a nice storyline. The whole Cora stuff was the exact kind of dreck I've been fearing this half of the season.

But, Pan is back next episode, so that may be fun.

No thoughts on this week's episode?

Once again, NOT GOOD. I feel so over with the show right now.:o

I mean of course, Zelena and Regina were like bffs in the past, when they were kids and as usual those memories were wiped out (as if we haven't seen enough memory wiping in this show.... then all is forgiven between Regina/Zelena once they discovered that they were Bffs before even when Cora/Regina just tricked Zelena from drinking a potion. All this emotion/love thing are just very forced and unrealistic. ANd Cora's exit was so similar to Snow Queen's exit, it was cheesey as hell! And of course she went to Heaven! Its ridiculous.

Then Evil Charming's demise felt like an after thought. And Rumple's dad is still here, ugh.
