I'll have to see how it plays out but right now I'm kind of weary of them introducing new versions of characters we've already had.

My main hope is that 1.) we don't retread the characters we've already spent a great amount of time with (Snow/Charming/Evil Queen/Rumpel). Regina and Gold still being in play makes me think I might not have to worry about that, but Adelaide Kane has dark hair and fair skin, so you never know. And 2.) this concept doesn't completely prevent us from getting to stuff the show hasn't yet touched upon (Narnia, Mowgli, Princess and the Frog, etc.)

I was gonna be done after season 6 on Netflix since it closed out Emma's arc, but the addition of Adelaide Kane makes me want to check out S7 now.

Curious to see what's revealed at the SDCC panel today. Evidently there are little clues littered over that display like a white rabbit, a frog, etc. Some people seem to think Rapunzel will be in the mix as well, but I'm not sure what gave them that idea. I think I saw a star, and it makes me think one of the new actresses might be Wendy Darling. Guess we'll see.

Once Upon a Time: Emilie de Ravin books return in season 7

The actress, who first joined the ABC fairy tale drama in season 1 as Belle of Beauty and the Beast fame, exited OUAT as a series regular alongside five other actors at the close of season 6. However, when EW sat down with executive producers Adam Horowitz, Edward Kitsis, and David H. Goodman to conduct the first edition of The Hot Seat for season 7, the trio confirmed that de Ravin would return in episode 4 to provide an update on Belle.

Guessing that'll be Rumple-centric.

Didn't even get past the Aladdin arc last season before I just finally quit the show but I must admit that trailer makes me slightly interested again. Problem with the series is that it never reached the heights and wonder of season 1. That and they continuously butchered characters fans were waiting to see for the sake of Rumple and Regina.

I've loved this show every since it first premiered.
I feel like this upcoming season will take it back to the glory of the first season.
It's going to be full of mystery, wonder and excitement.

A reboot is the best thing they could have done, at this point.
There's a ton of material they could still pull from to continue the show for a
few more seasons. They just have to make great and wise decisions moving forward.

Once Upon a Time bosses explain new curse

This all speaks to some of the twists within Hyperion Heights, the new Storybrooke-esque neighborhood in the Land Without Magic that the characters will call their home during the curse. “We’re going to see in Hyperion Heights that the role Lady Tremaine has taken is very similar in terms of getting to the top, in terms of being a developer, who is this character who is trying to push out the fairy tale characters who are living in Hyperion Heights, gentrifying the neighborhood and bringing other people in,” EP David H. Goodman says.

Yes, this does mean non-fairy tale folk also dwell in Hyperion Heights. “We’re in a city now,” Horowitz says. “Hyperion Heights is part of Seattle the way Brooklyn is part of New York. It’s more densely populated and it’s filled with fairy tale characters and non-fairy tale characters and that’s another interaction and vibe that we didn’t really have in Storybrooke, where it was all the cursed people.”

And here’s the kicker: “Lady Tremaine learned the lesson that Regina didn’t, which is don’t keep them all together where one day they can find themselves, push them the hell out!” Kitsis exclaims. “You push them the hell out and you gentrify the neighborhood and you bring in a cold press juicer and they can’t afford it anymore, then you won’t worry about the Pied Piper finding, you know, Alice.” (The new iteration of Alice, by the way, will be played by Rose Reynolds.)

“[Lady Tremaine] is sort of Regina-prime and she’s trying to figure out a way to scatter these fairy tale characters to the wind so they can’t be together, because as we’ve always seen, when these characters get together, they always figure out how to beat the bad guy,” Goodman adds. “Not giving anything away what the curse is, but she’s learning and standing on the backs of these other curses that have come before her to be as effective a villain as possible.”

Another facet of this curse is new alter egos for our favorite characters. As spied in the season 7 trailer, Hook appears to be a cop, while Regina may be a bartender. “They’re different from the cursed personas we’ve seen before,” Horowitz explains. “While it’s Regina you’ve been with for six seasons, what she is now in Seattle is something different. What it’s allowing us to do is seeing these same characters in a new way. Also, Hook never had a cursed persona, so this allows us to do something we haven’t done before with Hook.”

Adds Kitsis: “And I would say Regina never had a cursed persona, because she was the Queen and the Mayor, but she was always awake.”

However, just because Lady Tremaine is the new big bad, doesn’t necessarily mean she actually cast the new curse. “We said very clearly in the pilot of Once Upon a Time that Regina cast the curse,” Kitsis says. “What you’ll see this season is we don’t necessarily say that in the premiere.” So, who cast the new curse? Our theory: Henry. Maybe he needed to cast the curse to escape the new Enchanted Forest — yup, we said new. More on that soon!

Interesting about trying to scatter the cursed. Before we knew the finer details of the reboot, I assumed that would be how they dealt with Emma/Snowing/Belle/etc. no longer being main characters. That whoever cast the curse split everyone up and hid them all over the globe. Might still be how they deal with Emma, tbh. "Oh, a savior is in the mix? lol have fun in Jamaica, gurl."

And in this particular instance, I do think the three regulars they chose to bring back will be put to good use. Hook never got the curse. Regina was the one in control, so she never felt the brunt of it. And Rumple built a backdoor to wake himself back up as soon as Emma came into the picture. It's a new dimension to explore for the three of them. Henry too, for that matter.

Australian actress Emma Booth (Underbelly, Gods of Egypt) has landed a major recurring role on the upcoming seventh season of ABC’s Once Upon a Time, which is undergoing a reset with new stories and a number of new characters. She will play The Witch who is as wicked as they come.
