Xbox Achievements & General Xbox Game Progress

Just the final achievement is hard. Beating it on 1999 mode. Holy that is hard but its a mode for the hardcore, so a little perserverance and you'll beat it. Unlocking 1999 mode can actually be the first achievement you get in the game. Right away at the main menu, just enter the Konami Code and it'll unlock as well as the achievement

Making good progress on one of my goals to complete all Gears of War games.

Currently at 7,105G / 8,750G

Gears 1 - 1200/1250 - just need Seriously (maybe another 3k or so kills)
Gears 1 PC - 220/1000 - still playing campaign
Gears 2 - 1750/1750
Gears 2 JP - 1750/1750
Gears 3 - 2000/2000
Gears Judgment - 185/1000 - haven't got any campaign achievements yet
Updated after finishing Gears Judgment 1st playthrough & Gears PC on Insane (but the All Acts on Insane & All Acts in Co-op achievement glitching out on me..60G worth )

Gears 1 - 1200/1250 - just need Seriously (maybe another 3k or so kills)
Gears 1 PC - 580/1000 - (640 if I didn't get those glitches)
Gears 2 - 1750/1750
Gears 2 JP - 1750/1750
Gears 3 - 2000/2000
Gears Judgment - 550/1000

What does 1999 mode actually mean? Just significantly harder difficulty or something else as well?

Just waaaaay harder, from what I've read.

Alot less money, salts and health (foods and health packs) to be found, and apparently you need to choose a path and stick to it in how you uprgade your weapons and if you fully upgrade either your Health, your Salts, or your Shields. So, they've emphasized that you can't be balanced, you'd need to stick with whatever you're choosing to use in the long run.

I assume that because of less money being available, you'll probably need to stick with the weapons you've upgraded as well. And no matter what, you're probably going to die alot.

Remember there's also a second achievement that's tied into the 1999 mode achievement, called 'Scavenger Hunt'. You'll need to complete 1999 mode WITHOUT purchasing anything from a DOLLAR BILL vending machine. Which sounds like it makes it even harder, from what I hear about less items being found in containers and such.

That's an achievement that, realistically, you should do along with the 'Auld Lang Syne' achievement.

Finished Lego Star Wars 100%, that was a pain since you had to play through every level 4-5 times, ugh. Gonna move on to Bioshock Infinite now, played a little earlier this week, looking forward to really getting into it, love the series.

Sounds very hard and that you have to be organised & fully aware throughout! Well at least the game sounds amazing so it's probably worth it.

4/5 playthroughs! :csad:

I want to play & complete all the lego games but don't think I'd want to play them multiple times each. How long did it take roughly?

There's an internal gameclock, that said 38 hours. However, that also includes a few times playing tired and falling asleep while playing the game. Most Lego games now, you only need to do two, maybe three playthroughs; the story, then going back and getting all the extras. For Star Wars though, you had the story, then getting the extras, then a challenge on each level and the super story (playing through all 6 levels of an episode at once) to get 100%.

Ah seems a bit more than I'm comfortable with doing for a lego game. 2 I'm fine with. Maybe I don't 100% all of these after all.

Yes also with the 1999 mode it costs 100 bucks to be revived and if you don't have the money, you're sent back to the main menu and from there you can restart at a checkpoint but they can be few and far between

Did you have any problems with checkpoints in the normal playthrough? I was playing yesterday and started at Battleship Bay, made it to the area when you head to Hall of Heroes on the skyline and turned it off for a bit, when I loaded it again, all that progress was gone. I saw it autosaving, but it apparently didn't work. I did everything again, got a little farther and am hoping everything saved correctly, just wondering if anyone else has had problems with the game saving.

Someone was talking to me about 1999 mode yesterday and they said something about the game saves being different and that you can have to replay a fair amount if you fail in a certain way. It might be part of the mode but I could easily be wrong, don't know anything about the game myself.

I think in 1999 mode the saves are a bit fewer in between and in the normal mode they're a bit closer together as well as there being more. First thing you do in 1999 mode is upgrade all your shields and then the mode isn't too hard. The final battle can be really frustrating on any difficulty but all you have to do is throw a few Return to Sender traps onto the core and then you should be fine. Also in the 1999 mode theres an achievement for not buying anything at the Dollar Bill vending machines, which makes it that much harder.

1999 mode wasn't that hard, but you do need to figure out what hack you are going to use to beat siren, there are a couple, so choosing early is necessity. So you know what to put your money in. Also run from as many fights as you can. For example the 2nd to last fight is completely avoidable. I would recommend finishing your item hunting (the voxophones and sighseer) before starting 1999 because once you start it you can't change the difficulty. So I ended up having to do a 3rd playthrough when i expected to just load up the chapters and go hunting.

Just passed the 60k GS mark. This time it took me just under two months.

2 months for 60k is pretty good going! :woot:

Agreed with all of this. I went right at the Siren, took her with a fully upgraded Charge, Burning Halo and Brittle Skin and an upgraded shotgun with a little Murder of Crows on the side. Each fight she was done in about 15 seconds. Actually that combination makes the game pretty dang easy.

I quite enjoy getting achievements on PC games. Apart from Gears have started Warhammer: Dawn of War II & Chaos Rising, Arkham Asylum & Halo 2. Will be getting Arkham City for it as well.

Just three more achievements to go in Mass Effect 2. Insanity playthrough, biotic and tech achievement. Last two are BS because I did them enough times in-game to earj the achievement three times over.

Next up for single player is The Witcher 2 & Deus Ex. Really looking forward to both but looking at the achievements I probably won't be getting 100%.

How far did you get on Mass Effect 2 Insanity? Beaten Horizon & the Collector Ship yet?

Just Horizon. Doing loyalty missions at the moment. So far not so bad.

Dat Horizon...i died about 5 times and it was always due to Husks.

dat starport :cmad: dose scions :cmad: so many deaths were had

Is that the end section where you have to defend the cannons? I had no problems with the Scions, like I said... HUSKS!!!. I'm dreading Legion`s recruitment.

Before having ever played a Mass Effect I thought Husks would be the equivalent of Halo`s Grunts. Nope.
