Your giving the Avengers too much credit. It still was largely a Tony Stark and Captain America film co-Staring Bruce Banner,Nick Fury, and Black Widow with appearances by
Thor,Loki,and hawkeye.

You have to pick and choose with ensemble casts.X2 did best for me from X-Men films.Magneto was the wolverine equilvent In First Class. The Last STand was only film for me they overdid Wolverine.

I don't want DOFP to copy the avengers or Star Trek 2009.

Even though The Avengers did a better job in spreading the screentime to all of the main characters. I still prefer how X2 handled their characters. I feel like almost all of the characters (including Storm and Cyclops) shined at the right moment. Their interaction with each other felt more natural unlike with The Avengers. Some of the scenes felt really forced like the interaction with Iron Man/Captain America and the death of Agent Caulson :o.

Bryan just tweeted that he's in NYC. Not that we should read too much into that, but I know Famke lives in the City, and I believe James Marsden is still here filming 30 Rock. Could be wrong on both accounts, but that could be something to consider.

He could be wanting to do some location filming In NYC.He wanted to do some filming In New YOrk for first film before budget forced him to scrap those plans.

Since Hugh Jackman confirmed the WOlverine takes place after The Last Stand and we know The Wolverine ties Into DOFP I don't think James or Famke will be In film Inless timetraveler discovers at end of film preventing event has changed history and a sideeffect Is Cyclops and Jean are alive at end.

Man Singer is really abusing that use of the company jet (Jersey to Manhattan? LOL)

The thing with X-Men is its just not that appealing to the audience without its most well-known character and Wolverine is X-Men's most well-known character. Even with Marvel Comics, Wolverine always appeared in every X-Men title, he's not even important in the story but they always put him on the cover. Its a marketing strategy.

In my opinion, they failed by excluding not only Wolverine for First Class, but the other three marquee X-Men characters: Cyclops, Jean and Storm. Instread they crammed the film with B and C-list characters no one cares about.

I mean really...who gives a damn about some Angel chick who vomits burning spit at you from above? Or a speechless Latino guy with makeshift tornado powers? :whatever:

You're right that I'm over exaggerating. But in X2 Halle's clothing combined with the hair made for a pretty bad mix.

For example:

She looks like my grandma (styling-wise) on the way to Atlantic City. :whatever:

They all look dowdy. That's why I'm concerned about Louise Mingenbach returning. She doesn't understand what she's working with here. But then again, it may be Bryan's direction too. At the end of the day, he makes the final call. Not stating his sexual orientation drives all of his decisions, but...speaking as a gay man, I found that the male characters always looked far more sexy and attractive than the women. Especially Logan--who was Singer's main focus.

In my opinion...X3's female characters all looked WAAAAAY more sexy--especially their costuming. JP mentioned about some of Storm's casual attire but it was far more sophisicated that the ish above:

Even Logan looked hella sexy with those tight-fitting jeans. The scene where he's following Storm to the X-Jet (before departing for Alcatraz) that leather-clad ass was bouncing.

He's also balding.

Also, Famke looks amazing in that X2 shot so I've no idea what you're talking about. Storm's clothes could be better fitting, but at least they look like something Storm would wear, unlike the X3 outfit. Then there's Jackman, who just looks like absolute trash in that shot (and most of X3). That wig... *shudders*

Make-up and hair for Jean was stunning in X2; I agree. But it's like the costumers were trying to hide her physique in all those shapeless, black clothes. Ditto for Storm. Just shapeless, low-personality garb.

And if that's supposed to be "African Inspired"...? It looks like a 1st Grader's craft project.

EDIT: Hugh's wig was pretty bad in X3 though. I admit that. But then again, we've already established that wigs are a problem for this production. LOL :p Did he wear one in X1? I don't think he did.

Nope. Hair in X1, 2, Origins, and TW are all natural and lovely. :p

He wore a wig at the end of X1 for a couple of seconds as he left the mansion.

Hugh on Twitter, regarding his X-Men return:

Great 2 be back where it all began w/ @bryansinger & #xmen days of future past! And 2 work w/ the new cast for more than 4 hrs this time!

More then 4 hours huh? Unless the FC crew is jumping to the future, sounds like he may be going to the past.

Or just that he'll have more than one line.

oh God, please No.

I think he hasnt read the script yet either, so maybe he is just speaking without actual info on the plot

Could be. That tweet does make it sound like he will be acting with the FC crew though. Im sure hes talked to Singer in some manner. Who knows, Im just stoked he will be in it more then likely ****ing up Sentinels. Wouldnt be DOFP without him.

I think that was just his way of saying he has more of a cameo and nothing about who he interacts with. At least I hope so.

I cant with this idea of Wolverine getting a large role again

just the thought of it gets me very mad

I pray Singer doesnt make the same mistake as original trilogy

Well, personally I'm neither discouraged or encouraged by the news of Hugh coming back. I love him as an actor in this franchise. But I'm kinda nonplussed about it because it's just becoming...well, obvious that this is his franchise with FOX. And I've come to accept it now. They have not made ONE X-Men film without his involvement somehow. He's their "James Bond".

That said, the question for me is who else is going to be in it? Also what percentage of screen time will we have to settle for with Logan taking center stage ([blackout]because we all know they are going to base this story squarely on his shoulders[/blackout])?

This is a sequel to First Class.

LordT.

Is it? Every day that passes with these new tweets suggests differently. Yes, it will feature actors from FC. But it seems like this film's production team can't decide if the First Class series is a reboot or a continuation of the universe created by Bryan in the first place. A change in director for the first FC film ensured a clean break. In fact, I distinctly remember when FC came out they were saying this was a complete reboot.

But now?

Bryan is directing.

Casting Patrick, Ian, etc., (god love them, I do!) changed everything. And adding Hugh now automatically makes it a Wolverine-heavy film. Any other director wouldn't necessarily take that direction. But let's be honest here: Bryan loves working with this actor and built the franchise on his shoulders. He's not going to waste Hugh Jackon on a mere "cameo." Nooooooo....Trust me on this (and mark my words on this Thursday, December 20th)...it is going to be through HIS eyes that we as an audience are going to see "the past."

This is going to be a Logan-POV film. I'm not panicking. I just want to know what's left for the other mutants.

It would be a mistake for them to make this Wolverine and Friends.

They decided from the moment they hired Bryan to direct First Class that it was a prequel.

Bryan never left FC. It's his film that Vaughn came in at the last minute to direct.

Bryan is directing.
And how is that any different that writing the treatment/story and producing FC?

Casting Patrick, Ian, etc., (god love them, I do!) changed everything.
Casting Patrick, Ian proved that... GASP, they're adapting Days of Future Past. :wow:

I know, crazy.

Let me bookmark all of this to rub in your face in 2014. :o
