That could be the case, but why did he need to be a "secret" guardian though, instead of looking after her for real? Especially considering how desperately lonely Rey was?

He seems to be known to the first order so I suspect he stays away from her so as not to draw attention to her. Probably keeps tabs on her through informants

Yeah, it would pretty much work in the same way as Obi-wan guarding Luke. They both watch over them, but kept a good amount of distance as to not attract too much attention.

I'm inclined to think that his new mask will have his head exposed only his mouth covered that way we'll be able to see the scar on his face and Adam Dtiver will be able to emote more with his eyes.

Oh and shave his head and/or do something with his hair. The hope is that by VIII we'll have a Kylo Ren that has evolved both with the force and from a visual standpoint.

Basically I foresee a look similar to Vader at the end of ROTJ after Luke took off the mask only you know, badass.

Well, it was finding the lightsaber so he could find and kill Luke, which he didn't accomplish, because of Rey. So both of them will be the obsession now I guess.

That guy was so over the top

He was ok for most of the time but his Nuremberg rally moment made me cringe. It was clearly meant to be scary but I just felt like I was watching a Monty Python sketch. I did like the rivalry between him and Ren, on my first viewing I thought, Hux should have been played by someone older, but now I think that the closeness in age actually works.

I don't think that Kylo's look will change throughout the series to be honest, other than the scars and possibly a missing arm too. They put a lot of thought into his look and there's merchandise and stuff.

I liked seeing him under the mask. I was concerned he was just going to be a Darth Vader clone, and seeing the man and a conflicted man at that was a great decision. My only complaint about it was the timing. I really do think it would have been more effective if they saved the reveal for

I thought so as well at first. But upon thinking about it, you'd loose so much if he was masked during that interrogation scene with Rey.

Taking all that into account, it's possible that the Knights of Ren are all Snoke's apprentices, and Kylo leads them because he is the strongest in the Force.

While he may not refer to himself as a Sith, there's nothing suggests that Snoke may have had an affiliation with the Sith at one point. I don't understand why everyone is ignoring the statement by Serkis that Snoke is OLD, and knows about prior events because he's been around for a while. That, coupled with the original title for the movie, it is certainly within the realm of possibility that Snoke is older than even Yoda, and despite his new presence, may have had SOME affiliation with the Sith hundreds of years prior.

Also, Snoke's comments regarding Kylo, and the Knights of Ren was something along the lines of "you, the mightiest of the knights of ren". Nothing Snoke said suggests that the Knights of Ren are all his apprentices? Is there something else that states he has more than one apprentice?

All of his stuff is in the Visual Guide. Snoke is implied to have multiple students because Kylo is the "best", and the Knights of Ren are referred to as a new kind of Force User trying to fill the power vacuum left by the Sith.

But ultimately in the Star Wars world, the Sith and Jedi are like the Yin and Yang of the Force. No new faction they create is going to embody the Dark Side better than the Sith did. And the Jedi and Sith have history dating back a thousand years. It's hard for me to believe that they're just going to be a complete non-factor in the story now.

Exactly. Why the distinction? There would have to be a reason for it. Which there very well might be.

I do think it's interesting that JJ specified that Kylo isn't a Sith, but wasn't as specific when it came to Snoke.

That's been undone for a while, the Nightsisters are dark side users as well.

That's right, I forgot about them. I always thought Lucas kind of retconned things where in the prequels, he gave dark force users the name of the Sith just like the Jedi are to the light side so that also retroactively made Vader and the Emperor in the OT Sith, but now that seems to have been undone by Maz's comments.

I'm pretty sure Vader and the Emperor were Sith. The books refer to Vader as a Sith lord multiple times. Lucas had already thought of the word Sith when he made Star Wars but for some reason he didn't use it until The Phantom Menace.
