The Last Jedi Adam Driver as Kylo Ren (VIII)

And thank god Emo Kylo Ren is back.

I really like Kylo Ren and Adam Driver's performance. I like that he can't keep it together and he's very erratic, but I also like this idea that he's tempted by DAT ASS more than the dark.

Fixed it for you :woot:

I kind of wonder if they are toying with the idea of making Kylo into full on Vader at some point. :o

Adam Driver's performance as Kylo Ren was the performance I was expecting out of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker but never got. #Redeemed

I don't think they will. With the whole idea of "the balance" I don't see Kylo going full Vader. It's the conflict in him that makes him interesting.

I kinda miss the mask. It's such a great design. Would be hype if they brought it back for the final showdown in 9.

I liked him much better this time around, felt like he had more depth didnt really act like a spoiled child .

I feel the same. He was annoying in TFA, but his characterization was greatly improved in TLJ.

I thought Driver was GREAT. Loved the sparring between him and Hux. Can't wait to see what they do with him in IX.

Does anybody else have a feeling Snoke isn't entirely out of the picture? I know he was cut in half and all but he seemed too powerful to die just because of that...

There was an audible "YES!" from some guy when Kylo was topless. :lmao:

I have a feeling Hux will try to overthrow Kylo in the next film.

I think of the new characters, Kylo has been my favorite and the most interesting in both films. Rey was also great in this movie, but I just love what they have done with Kylo so far in the series.

I really liked Kylo in this film, but can they give him a better costume next time around? It looked like it was too big on him and his tunic reminded me of those pads they hang in freight elevators.

Had to hide how big Driver had gotten, for the big reveal to Rey.

I find myself more intrigued by Kylo Ren after the events of this movie more than I ever was after TFA.

I love how they pull the rug out from expectation with him. We were conditioned to think somehow he could still be redeemed like Vader, and I love that every time you think he is going to the light, he just gets more evil. When he asked Rey to join him after killing Snoke, I smiled. It was an unexpected curveball, but one that added so much to Kylo. It also made him more than just Vader-light. I think he is a fantastic villain.

For me, he's been the stand out performer of all the cast, across the two films thus far.

He's sold a very conflicted character and attitude exceptionally well.

I agree, it's the best character of the new films. While I thought where they took him at the end of TLJ was perhaps the least interesting for his potential development I'm still very interested to see what they do with it.

Would him becoming good again have been more interesting? Or would it just have been Darth Vader all over again? I think him going down a darker path is far more interesting to the overall narrative, and something we haven't seen. Redeeming a good guy is a cliche. But keeping him evil, you don't see it done very much.

I quite like Adam’s lower monotone when he’s talking. He’s incredibly arresting.

Becoming good isn't what I was referring to, I don't think that's even one of the options in the middle chapter. I think he's the most interesting as a torn dark side character because that's actually what we haven't seen before. We've definitely seen someone take a darker path, namely Anakin. From good guy to someone that makes Kylo seem like a choire boy.

With Kylo taking Snoke's spot it feels like he's going to play roughly the same role as in TFA (Snoke wasn't really much of a factor in the plot) but with less conflict with the light. The last part is just a guess though and could certainly be wrong, and I hope it is.

Anyhow, I do remain interested in seeing where Kylo goes. He's the most new and creative part of the new trilogy in my view.

Anakin wasn't the same. The audience knew where his story was going, so there was no surprise. Here, there is genuine surprise. Anakin was also the story of a war hero turn tragedy (well...was supposed to be, lol). Kylo is way different. He was really never heroic.

I think he is too.

I honestly thought he would regret what did to Han, and there would be a redemption arc. That's all out the window now. And Luke just cutting him down to size was just spectacular. He had this swagger like, "Hey, I took down Darth Vader, you little brat, don't even start."

That shot of Luke on the battlefield with Kylo coming to meet him was amazing.

When Kylo order all those guns to just shoot him and not stop, I pictured almost like when a bad guy wrestler is just sending wave after wave of guys to beat up the good guy and throwing people in front of himself so the good guy can't catch him LOL! :woot: That look of fear was wonderful
