Adaptation/Remake/Sequel/Reboot Films that Should Never Be Made

Yeah i know, i saw the episode, but i don't find it better than the original, but it was still very good

I just finished playing the first episode of the new Back to the Future game.

It. Is. ****ing. AWESOME.

Except for the movement controls. They kinda suck sometimes.

Call me crazy, but I think a capable film maker could do a reboot of Back to the Future well. The right actors are the real problem. Main reason for this is that very soon part 2 is gonna be very outdated and wrong. I don't think this constitutes a remake, but I would not mind it.

Loose remake a-la Karate Kid.

Well, the Evil Dead remake or what have you seems to be in development hell, which is a good thing. I think that's also the case for the fourth movie, which sucks.

Funny thing is I remember Raimi was supposed to be involved in both, and that they became basically the same project, with a new cast discovering the necronomicon (it's easy to explain, that since Ash assumingly lost the necronomicon when he was sucked through the portal in ED2 so the modern copy lost in time could show up anywhere) and Ash showing up at the end to bust some deadite heads.

I never saw the original Footloose, but apparently, it hasn't aged all that well and it's not like it was a masterpiece or anything either... :p

These prequels, remakes, and reboots are starting to pick up a lot of momentum, especially this year with movies like X-Men First Class, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and a somewhat decent effort with Straw Dogs and Final Destination 5.

So I'm looking forward to see what they do with The Thing,...

Don't forget True Grit! ;)

Yeah, but I guess my last examples, I was thinking about 2011 specifically and it's technically a 2010 movie... :p

If your talking about De Palma's Scarface it's already a remake, and personally I like the 1932 original better.

And a lot of people forget, the De Palma film wasn't terribly well-received when it first came out. Even with the cult following (and endorsement of countless rappers) behind it, it's still not really all that great of a film. It's overlong, poorly paced, and Pacino's performance works better as unintentionally comedic, than dramatic.

Maybe this time they'll cast actual Hispanics, and not just WASPs with tans. (although I'm sure they find a way to get Cliff Curtis in there!)

In terms of adaptations, pretty much any TV sitcom.

When I first watched Scarface I was like this is what people have been raving about?I think what made me hate it more was that I watched the 32 original right before lol.Boris Karloff was great that.

A LOT of reboots/sequels/ remakes should never be made! Hollywood became a friggin' mass production of awful remakes, especially and there's no stopin' the train wreck it that it became!

Citizen Kane/Casablanca.Star Wars pretty much has been rebooted with the prequels,I wouldn't be surprised if Lucas announced a new trilogy eventually.

Personally though I really don't care what gets rebooted or remade. The originals are always there, and hey you never know you could get a great film out of some remakes.

IMO a Sequel Trilogy will never happen.

Yeah, i really doubt it, Lucas has Star Wars locked in key, and he said himself that the saga was ended and that it was about Darth Vader, with him dead there's simply no more story to tell, so that franchise is definitelly safe from ressurrection.

Wow,I actually predicted something (not a hard prediction, but a prediction nonetheless.)

No Hellboy reboot, nor any further entries in the Dark Knight universe.

Plus the Prequels sucked, so the audience would be kinda turned off. But if there ever is more Star Wars movies don't let Disney anywhere near it!

Yes it is, it was an amazing film, and it's not overlong or poorly paced at all, it's the exact time it needed to be.

Guillermo Del Toro's Hellboy films weren't really that spectacular, the 2nd one was great, but the first was cheesier than it needed and added a character and romantic plot that wasn't needed. It lacked the comics athmosphere and tension, as well as the more Lovecraftian mysticism

In looking at them as comic films, they're ranked #2 for me behind the Dark Knight trilogy in my list of top comic films. I agree that the comics have a more foreboding atmosphere to them. Scenery's another thing the comics did better; I'm thinking about that village where The Wolves of St. August took place, and Girescu's castle from Wake the Devil.
