From Kal-El.org:

"MovieTickets.com said Friday that it was selling three times more tickets to "Superman Returns" five days before its opening than it did for "X-Men: The Last Stand" at the same point in that movie's sales cycle. And Fandango said Friday that 25% of all tickets it was selling that day and the day before were for "Superman Returns."

:supes:

Anyone who thought this film wouldnt be a success needs to be slapped...

See I knew this would happen, that's why I got my advance tickets for June 27 @ 10 : 00 and June 28 . The first day they went on sale .

I was given the task to get the tickets early in my group over the weekend...9 to be exact...I asked which one had more availibility the 10pm or the midnite showing...the girl said that both were about the same and at this rate selling out by Sunday...then ofcourse she said if that happens they'll be doing 2 more screens, another 10 and midnite show. The only thing I was extremely upset over was that the digital auditorium is still being occupied by Cars...wtf is that about?!

You better pray it does or else goodbye sequel.:D

I've purchased four tickets for the sneak preview at the Regal near where I live, then on Wednesday I'm hopping the ferry to Seattle to watch the movie in Imax with my wife. I'm so pumped right now, it's ridiculous. I was going to attend the sneak preview in a full Superman suit, but the one I wanted to buy was too much money. Therefore, I've done something more akin to my height and size. I'm going as Connor Kent in tribute to the late, great, Superboy. I just got a haircut and dyed my hair as of last weekend. I should have pictures for all my fellow geeks to make fun of as soon as I get them taken. I'M SO FRIGGIN PUMPED...

...PUMPED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You don't jinx it I want to see doomsday in the sequel.

Doesn't matter to me. I take it on a per movie basis. All I'm looking for is a good movie.

I'm hoping for a fairly weak turnout for my 10 pm viewing.
Nice thing about midnight premieres is they seperate the casual filmgoer from the nerds, and nerds generally make better audiences.

But "Superman Returns" has much working in its favor too. The DC Comics franchise is considered one of the most notable ever. Initial findings from online ticket brokers Fandango and MovieTickets.com late last week showed strong advance sales.

Fandango says at that point in the cycle, "Superman Returns" was capturing seven times the business of "Cars," 1.5 times that of "Da Vinci Code," twice that of "X-Men: The Last Stand" and five times more than "Batman Begins."

No I'd rather see darkseid in the third film.
Darkseid is the character who can single-handly fight Superman toe-to-toe, strength-to-strength, an evenly matched foe. Doomsday is the villain who did what no other villain could do, kill Superman. It would only be wise to save the most powerful Super-villain last, this is why Darkseid should be in the sequel, follow it up and end it with an even more powerful villain in the third. With the thinking of a TRILOGY in mind.

I think this franchaise will be profitable enough to go beyond a trilogy. The great thing about Routh is he seems like the type of humble guy who would be excited to keep doing this till hes old.

the big theater by my house is doing 8 screenings of SR tomorrow night....so far 7 of them are sold out.

Yeah, that and he's now Superman for life, very much like Christopher Reeve was. Unless he's gonna take crappy parts in movies like Reeve did, that no one cared or know about. Or perhaps he'll do silly movies with Hilary Duff, like Welling, lol. His career from here on out is Superman, he's got no choice in the matter.:D

Sorry dudes but POTC2 is gonna knock SR out of the sky. Did anyone see the premier on E!? Disneyland went freaking nuts
What's with this silly comparisons? Regardless of who makes more, either franchise will not kill the other in regards to future films, so why bother focusing and stressing over it? I plan to see and enjoy both films this summer. I suggest you do the same.

I have 2 tickets for Weds night.. I think this is great as it really shoves all the hype around MI 3 right down the toilet where it should have stayed :)
Welcome to the Hype! Nice user name. You'll find I am one of the old time Aerosmith and Joe Perry banner wavers 'round these parts. :)

Thats right.

I have to admit I have some discouraging news here on my end.

The local theatre near me where I attend all of the big movie midnight openings, is where I am seeing Superman Returns of course.

Just to give you guys an idea. For the Revenge of the Sith midnight opening, the theater sold out ALL 24 of its screens. In other words ROTS played on ALL 24 screens at midnight at my theater and sold out every last screen! Before the show started the manager got in fron of the audience and announced that our theater had the highest tickets sales in the entire United States because of this.

Well, I just found out as of about an hour ago that this very same theater is only showing Superman Returns at 10pm on 1 screen and at 10:30 also on just 1 screen. Well, they just told me that for the lone 10pm screening that they are having, they have only sold 36% of the seats in that auditorium, meaning its still 64% OPEN!!! WTF is going on here!!!
