I say do the same that has been done with Hulk: pull the plug, restart the franchise. Hire a great director, write a good script, call WETA and make it a 250 mi. movie. :yay:

I know. They won't make it, the flick the way it is makes loads of money.

But that would be fantastic. :hyper:

i've seen FF2 in full two times now (i work at empire cinema) and all i can say is that i love the film.

yes agree with spider-fan930 that both films climaxes are needing a tweek but in ff2 its clear that Tims vision in directing is much more diverse than that of the original in that look at the use of the hand held camera at the military base, the arial camera angles as well as the Doom v Johnny and the fantasticar, that was sweet.

he should get another go to fully show his directing ability further and mabey FOX will loosen their grip, well lets hope!
Oh, don't get me started on the camera angles, they were awesome! Especially the camera angles with the introduction of General Hager going into the Baxter Building.

It would definitely be quality if they found another Singer or Raimi who is willing to elevate the material in a different manner. I'm not saying that the FF is ultra-serious material, as the comics had plenty of family-friendly moments. I just feel that someone with an approach along The Incredibles could do a great job with this franchise.

This isn't about Story's career and personal development.
It's about the FANTASTIC FOUR.
What is this, "He's really getting better. He should get another chance to show what he can do!" stuff.
I will never understand this.
I don't care what he can do. I'm not a Tim Story fan.
I'm a Fantastic Four fan.

the new Hulk movie's director isn't good in my opinion what has he made those stupid Transporter movies. I'm willing to give him a chance though since Tim Story made Taxi and i like Tim Story.

Well-spoken. I feel people here have this loyalty to Story solely because SHH gets exclusives from him and he talks to the fanbase, when in fact both he and FOX are the most disposable elements. He had his chance to 'get better' with Rise of the Silver Surfer. It's being lauded as a marginal improvement. The time for improvement has come and gone, folks. In the comicverse this is what we call "getting a new EIC".

And yet some people still think TIH will have a plot outside of smashing things with Leterrier paired with a writer like Penn. It's sort of sad.

I wouldn't mind seeing Doom return in some capacity. As said above, he's so close we may as well complete the arc. I was against him being in FF2 but he ended up being fifty times better than I hoped. So if we can bring Doom to Lord of Latveria in the third movie, everything is perfectly set up and it ends in a nice way for all future movies, where he can be full comic-Doom. :D

Plus I think it's a given that Sue'll discover she's pregnant either at the start or end of FF3.

If a " new " director does Doc Doom, i pray he finally gives Doom character a far more believable, menacing, interesting characters than what we saw Story in his development of him.

Very, very little of Story's films has centered on Doom's hideously scarred face and his mental-physicological state and self-estem over it.
It was the true weakness that ingenius and cold Dr. Doom has - the sight and memory of his disfigured face emotionally cripples Doom ....and yet no mention of it at all has been bought to the surface in either of these FF films. - It seems like Story has spend more time trying to make Doom look " dashing/charming " than what fans are more interested in seeing from Doom. - he just won't develop these characters and make them uniquely interesting like they really need to be.

Speaking of Sue Richards, i couldn't stand the way they had
Jessica Alba look in this FF film.
- From the awkward, deep-sea, blue eyeballs to the high-dyed blonde hair. Just no natural look whatsoever, she looked as fake as they come.

:csad:

I think those Fantastic Four movies should've lasted two hour and a half at least!
Seems to me "Story" is the kind of director skipping over several item just to make the movie profitable for the studio huh!?

You have no idea how disappointed I was for not seen Galactus (at least the way he is in the comic books)
That damn interstellar cloud should have talk or something.
A God’s voice like in the Ten Commandments would have sufficed.
Seeing at least two bright eyes or Galactus huge helmet would have quench my thirst!
I didn’t fell Galactus presence at all in this movie.

My only hope is perhaps that cosmic cloud will take on a most tangible human form
Seeing how easily he was dispatched by his own creation.

Overall not a bad superhero movie! Easily rank in the top ten
But you can kiss that 500 millions worldwide goodbye though

No entire satisfaction! No candy!

Hmmmmmmmmmmm 2.5 hours.....no, way too long.......1 hr. and 45 to 2.00 sure...that would have been much better....

I know. He sounds like such a nice, well-meaning guy in interviews, that I sometimes get a twinge of a hint of feeling bad for him....as I SAY what has to be said, that he isn't the right guy for the job.

It's not personal. A lot of people think Woody Allen's a great director. But he isn't right for Transformers or Hostel 2. Drop the allegiance to the "world-acclaimed" director of Taxi and Barbershop and start thinking about,...the...um
Fantastic Four.....the 40 years of comic genius.

'll never get it.

He'll be able to finish off the trilogy. This was just awful though. Maybe not as awful as the first but pretty painful still.

Hell no!

he Butchered Doom (who should be one of the most chilling villains in movie history, we got an angry metal business man) and Galactus (He's a cloud guys...he didn't talk, there was no outline in the center of the cloud...he was a cloud...and further more Story killed him)

not to mention the acting in Rise was worse than in the first movie...and Alba looked like an alien. not to mention scenes like The Thing Burping in peoples faces...Elektra was way more mature than this movie.

this movie was horrible...and so far it will be the first Marvel movie since Blade that i don't buy.

Story is a horrible director for FF...he has done it no justice...he has simply given us stuff to make excuses for so that we can try to get some enjoyment out of it because it's the only decent FF movies we have right now.

There are so many more talented and qualified directors to take on a Franchise like this...it blows my mind who we got.

and further more...screw FOX!

I can't help but think what it is we're not seeing. It's clear that a very precise edit doctor has come in and performed surgery, cutting and slicing (and not very cleanly or smoothly in my opinion) on this film once again. There are lines that were in the trailers that didn't make it into the film. It makes me think what scenes were left out?

I understand the aim and audience they're skewing to. It seems to me however they could not dumb it down and still have a great film.

Also, I'm not defending the director, but I still wonder how much real power he has over his material. I get the distinct feeling that they're still holding and guiding his hand. It doesn't appear to be a situation like Copolla was in on Godfather and still got his way and vision of things on screen.

Thats what I was thinking what exactly does Tim get to do involving this movie?

do you really think that added material is gonna save this movie? the dialoge we got was, IMO, horrible and forced...it was just not good at all guys...

this is not what the fans deserve. it's not even good for the average movie viewer...my entire family went with me...they all thought it was horrible...even my mom who says almost every movie is fun and good.

Ditto. This is the good of logic. :hyper:

No it's not good logic.

X2 was far better than X1.

Was it a sign that Singer developed as an action movie director? yes.

But fans of X-men also benefited.

If Tim Story gets better and better at directing FF movies the fans benefit.

Gyllenhall looks nerdier than Maguire, if that's even possible.

What? dude you got that the wrong way around.

Elijiah Wood is the dweebier version of Tobey Maguire.

No. You are the one that's dabbling in Illogic.

The question is not, "Is Story improving?".
The question is not "How did Bryan Singer do?".

The question is, "Should T.S. come back? Has he meritted a return?"
That is a matter of opinion, so a poll was made for the sake of discussion.

If "making an awesome F4 movie" = "Lifting a 500 pound weight"
Then yeah, if the goal is to lift a 500 pound weight, and on his first try, he could only manage 225, but now he can manage 350......that IS closer to the goal.
But STILL SHORT of it.
So, get someone who can lift 500.

Only if he returns to do the third.
This thread is about whether or not he SHOULD return.
Do you understand that?

It will be interesting to see if an extended dvd comes out and how the movie would look (perhaps even better) ?!:woot:

I'm a big fan of Singer's X-films, but I have to know what you're talking about here. All of the battle sequences in the first film felt like the movie was hitting you in the face with close-quarter fighting. The closest X2 ever got to this was Wolverine fighting against Yuriko, and even then the wire work was shoddy (with Nightcrawler's entrance into the White House getting honorable mention). If anything, the acton was downplayed for an epic-scale approach to the story.

And need I remind you about Superman Returns and how well-received the action was in that film? I think Singer's great, but "developed as an action movie director" he has not.
