That said , this is only the pilot, and pilots can be pretty shaky. They don't always hint at the potential a series has once they've worked out the kinks, change the focus, add or subtract cast members, change writers , etc.

I'll go back and watch the rest of it and give it a chance next week though.

Over the years I've found that Most shows need time to build up speed and the pilot is usually never that great.

It's rare (for me at least) that a pilot blows me away.

With that being said, I liked the show for the most part. As others have said, it definitely needs to introduce some C and D level heroes and villains, and not just as cameos.

They made Asgardians aliens who use magic highly advanced tech. DC keeps it real and faithful.

Exactly what highly advanced tech makes Thor able to stand toe to toe with The Hulk?.... or are all Asgardians by nature a match for Hulk.

Really? Because with shows like Smallville and Lost the Pilot is usuallythe most complimented episode of their shows

Yeah, because those shows declined in quality as they went on.

Loved the Pilot. Favorite characters are Ward, Fitz and Simmons. It was also great seeing Maria Hill!

Not sure, but the movie explained that what humans call magic is basically super science and technology.

I was ok with that explanation myself.

And you do that by promising cash for getting to experiment on them.

I don't think cash is the thing that drives these patients to get the Extremis virus. Peterson and all Killian's experiments at AIM are pretty much desperate to get their lives back after crippling injuries....nobody's in it for a quick buck.

Yes Skye is freaking annoying. I'm hoping that she gets better. I'm also hoping Marvel uses more of its C and D level characters. Let's be real, its something that we are all hoping for. A little easter eggs goes pretty far.

What is it with fanboys *always* hating on beautiful actresses in their superhero flicks? Chloe Bennet is gorgeous. She can just stand there in the corner and look good for all I care....she's worth the price of admission.

THAT was an AWESOME show!!!
I was Plotzing at the end when Lola flew off! lol

I'm actuall tired of beautiful actors and actresses getting a free pass because of their looks. And people hate them when they're annoying, when they're interesting and well written they're usually well liked.

Im perfectly fine with the "magic is sience thing" I look at if from a scientific perspective. The internet, TV, Airplanes, cars etc. (things we take for granted today) would all seem magic to people from the 1700s, and that's only 300 years ago. If you have the technology to warp people to other planets, then compared to Earth Asgard may be thousands of years ahead (technology wise). Asgard could also have a different gravity, or atmosphere or whatever, making Thor stronger on Earth, although he is pretty strong on Asgard as well. Mjolnir can be explained with a sophisticated GPS tracking chip. OR you can just take it for what it is and enjoy the damn show and movies instead of always comparing everything.

I just take it as The Drummer said in Planetary. Magic is the universe cheat codes.

I'd give it a 9. It kept me entertained and there were plenty of funny moments throughout. Not all of the characters are well-developed yet, but it is only one episode. I didn't find Skye annoying at all, I loved her. The two Brits are probably my least favorites at the moment.

Saw this last night. Thought it was Ok not good. The only cast member I found interesting was Coulson. Some of the same issues I had with Avengers popped up in this series...a tad bit too much comedy. Things happened just to play up the laugh factor...the scene with the truth serum is a prime example.

Well, not all of us are horny, slobbering nerds. I'm gay so I don't give a rats behind what she looks like.

The character was annoying and typical. Some of us want a little more depth in the characters. Not saying that won't happen as the season moves along but her character left a lot to be desired.

The biggest thing I'm anxious to find out is what that S.H.I.E.L.D. doctor was talking to Hill about Coulson and how he doesn't know something yet and that it should stay that way.

So what if Bennet is attractive if she can't act? It doesn't help that Skye was by far the most ill-conceived and poorly written role. Elizabeth Henstridge is at least as attractive as Bennet and she nailed her role perfectly, making me like a character I assumed beforehand would be as annoying as Skye was. There's no problem with casting for hotness (there isn't an ugly person on the show) but talent matters more.

Thor's quote is "You're ancestors called it magic (as he looks at a book about norse mythology) but you call it science. I come from a land where they are one and the same."
Not exactly a smoking gun that Asgardians derive thier abilities form advanced alien technology.
I read it as him telling Jane Foster that she, and most of her world, needs to find a scientific explanation for what Thor does, when there is in fact none.

I also really want to stress that in a world built on sic-fi as soft as the Marvel Universe, there is effectively no difference between advanced alien technology and magic.

One thing I forgot to comment on. Coulson's flying car. That was pretty dumb. I know that, set in a world with aliens, superpowered robosuits and magic hammers, it's not really that far-fetched. But I still found that a tad too silly. This isn't Back to the Future II.

From the moment I saw it I knew it was gonna fly. I didn't have an issue with it flying...just the Back to the Future flying at the screen.

Remember, this is also a world where a man invented the flying car decades ago...so a flying car is not as unbelievable as you'd think.

I wasn't bothered by it, in fact, I loved it. The idea is something that's already been pre-established in the MCU. Refer to Howard Stark's presentation at the World Expo in CA:TFA (my personal guess is that Lola is probably Howard Stark tech and was the next evolution of what he had presented 20 years earlier at that World Expo)

I thought that was ok except for the Grandma part, with him saying "Gramsy?" and looking all sad.

All they needed was the BTTF theme music lol.
