May and Coulson were, obviously, both present for that event, so they should be fully aware of what happened. When Coulson is looking over the files about Skye's parents, he asks May to help him uncover whatever happened. If May were the one to take Skye in and Coulson was present there would be no reason for them to look into it; it wouldn't be a mystery at all.

If they did go that route or reveal Coulson or May as Skye's parent, they'd better have a good explanation for why they had to pull files and use multiple episodes to figure it out.

Nope. At least 4. They're definitely hinting at something and need to follow up with some form of a tie in. Otherwise its all shoddy writing

After not enjoying the last 2 episodes, I liked this one, it was a return to form, with some creepy scenes from the 'bad' guy, but more importantly some more development for the team and May getting some focus, good stuff.

You think they would have recognized the dead body, either way. Especially if it was the mission that has so changed May and that she has been replaying in her head every day since. Admittedly, they have probably seen a lot more corpses lying in a pool of their own blood than I have. Maybe it's all old hat for them.

"Hmm, I think I recognize that corpse from somewhere... No, no, sorry I was thinking of another dead guy! How embarrassing."

Oh, the other thing I liked, when they had to use Coulson's vintage radio wristwatch to get the door open, he does the folded arms thing (again) but the look on his face is so pained, I felt so bad for him *lol*

Did not like this episode at all. It was hard to get through, honestly, and the "freak of the week" story was ridiculously stupid.

Yeah, I know it's Agent Peterson. I said he'd join the team yesterday before that episode, and several people were trying to argue that he wouldn't.


And listen closely when Coulson is on The Bus immediately after they take Hannah in: he says "Xavier" something. Uses the "egg-zavier" pronunciation.

I'm not hearing it I....er.....have the episode on my computer, here's what I have the dialogue as when we first see Coulson on The Bus after Hannah's been tranq'd (when he's talking with Ward & May):
Ward: Just a mattress, sir? 6 hour long ride to The Fridge.

Coulson: Fitz added magnetic shielding to The Cage after Simmons had her scare. If Miss Hutchins has this power then that room should keep it from getting out. But in there, she'll be just as dangerous.

May: How is she?

Coulson: Dendrotoxin's (sp?) wearing off, she'll be awake soon. Scared, in a strange room. Our next interaction with her is crucial to gaining her trust, which is why I want you there.

May: Are you sure that's a good idea?

Coulson: If Miss Hutchins is going to believe anything we say she needs to know we're not hiding things from her, which means you explaining the situation.

Ward: What if that doesn't calm her down? What if that makes her more agitated?

May: Then he definitely wants me in there.

Coulson: Pretty much.

Ward: I'll observe from out here.

Coulson: I'll lose the tie, if she is telekinetic don't want to have a noose around my neck

Nightcrawler and his father Azazel both teleport by means of interdimensional travel. When they reappear there is a puff of smoke and the smell of brimstone. The dimension in question has been shown to have some hellish properties. It would indeed make sense that AoS is alluding to this.

However, the mention of Thor and the other realms leads me to believe that there is a tie to Hel which could possibly be the MCU's way of tying together Ghost Rider/Mephisto's Hell, the Hel of Yggdrasil, and the Nightcrawler alternate dimension. And (hopefully) maybe even the dimension where the Dread Dormammu resides.

At least that's how I saw it.

Now, I gave this episode a shot after disliking last week's and lo and behold, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't think I've ever been so back and forth with any series. I guess that's what happens when you want to like something bad enough.

Side note and bit of random trivia - when the episode opened indicating that Batesville, Utah me and my fam looked at each other and wondered if we actually have a Batesville here in Utah or if the show did the usual 'let's just make up the name of a town'. I suspect, ultimately, it really is a case of the latter and they just pulled a name out of a hat type of thing.

That said, at one point in time we did indeed have a Batesville Utah that settled in the mid 1800's over in Tooele County (pronounced Too-el-uh, for those curious, I know, we've got some funny names here in Utah ). However it and another settlement merged a couple decades later and was renamed to Erda (which is technically a "census-designated place"). The thing I find interesting about that is Erda? As in Erda the goddess of wisdom & earth in Wagner's ring cycle opera that his interpretation of is based on Thor's mother in Nordic mythology?

Just an interesting thing that popped up as I was digging into things and trying to satisfy my curiosity and in the long run isn't likely to mean a dang thing *lol*.

I'll take another listen when I get home from work. It was during this conversation that you're describing, yeah, but I coulda sworn I heard that clearly; even had a good laugh about it.

The Cavalry incident happened in Bahrain. Skye was dumped in a US orphanage. It's barely possible that the civilian girl was Skye, but she would have to have been an infant at that point because that's how old she was when the SHIELD agent dumped her, according to the redacted file she had. Coulson and May would definitely know much more about Skye's background than they seem to if they were the ones who found her among the crazies. I suppose that they could have been involved without knowing anything about the child's background.

However, if that were the case one would have expected May to be more shocked and/or traumatized by photos of Skye's dead mother. Had DeadMom been involved in Bahrain, Melinda May might have been the one to kill the woman with her bare hands. Seeing her dead body would have brought back traumatic memories, if nothing ekse.

Skye was upset at the way May treated Hannah .
She was definitely trying to befriend May at the end
Skye cannot be jealous of what she doesn't know.

While I agree that Skye doesn't have cause to be jealous of May, she was making catty remarks to and about the agent even before they took Hannah into custody. As they were getting ready to leave the Bus she made that "warm and fuzzy" jab, knowing damn well that May was right there looking at her. Skye's behavior only got nastier from there. She was beyond vicious regarding May, especially since the writers were trying to portray her as the most compassionate and "human" person on the team. Obviously Skye's compassion doesn't extend to one of her teammates.

The writing for Skye was, as usual, the one part of the episode that stood out for its clumsiness. Her nastiness to May, her unwarranted interference in Coulson's plans, her magical understanding of Tobias' motives were all poorly handled. The writers seem to have abandoned the idea that Skye's "hacking" is reason enough for her inclusion on the team, so they've come up with "great people skills" as their new rationale for her presence. That doesn't even make sense. Coulson is the one who really steps in and soothes people in distress. Skye was only able to feebly commiserate with Hannah, give her an awkward hug and put down another woman without cause.

Yeah, but if the writers hadn't conveniently forgotten that Skye wouldn't have been able to "comfort" Hannah. The Vibranium shielding would naturally dampen noise, wouldn't it? Maybe that's Skye's "superpower": the ability to yammer through even Vibranium walls.

Show is getting better. I liked the last two episodes and hopefully this is the way they go. Anyone kind of tired of Skye questioning Coulson's decisions all the time? If it wasn't for him using her, she wouldn't even be on this team.

Coulson and May clearly wouldn't be shocked by a photo of a dead body. And both wouldn't be very good shield agents if they couldnt hide their emotions

Not at all. It builds their backstory . Making skye their daughter may seem cheap though. But connecting them to the incident where her parents died wouldnt at all
