Not too impressed with the pilot, these sub character guys arent that interesting. I will give it some more episodes, but my expectations of tv shows are so high after watching stuff like Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, etc...

those are all cable shows...

And honestly AOS's campiness is refreshing with so many "edgy and dark" TV shows.

This show needs more superheroes and villains,it was kinda boring.
I'm not trying to get into it about this but it's really ridiculous when I see people say this about a freaking pilot episode. They're not going to blow the lid in the first episode. >.>

Yup, to be sure much the same as Kryptonians, but Thor must be on a level far beyond his fellow Asgardians, or is any Asgardian capable of trading blows with The Hulk......

If as it's been put forward Thor's powers are possible due to some technology( i.e. Thor controls lightning via the tech in his hammer, etc.)Thor's unique strength must also be a result of said technology.

I think in terms of physical power Thor is on a level above other Asgardian's, where Loki and Odin I see as being on a level above other Asgardian's in terms of magical powers. However, all Asgardian's should be more powerful then humans, and Thor being more physically powerful then other Asgardian's I would equate to if Jesse Eisenberg was to face off against the Rock who would be more powerful. They are both humans but just because they share the same race does not necessarily mean they share the exact same traits, genetic makeup or strength.

Precisely, what made AVENGERS stand out as a film alongside everything else is what's similarly going to make and HAS MADE this stand out as well.

I don't get why people always want everything to be the same. What's wrong with variety?

Also Stark Industries logo on the bus @ 07:18.

I give it 8 out of 10, but since I don't like numeral ratings I also give it pie out of sausage. there is room for improvement at some edges and the characters need to get more fleshed out but that will happen over the course of the season, I assume.
ward was very uncharismatic, but that might change and coulson has enough charisma for both, so I'm fine with that. I'm looking forward to next week already

I mostly liked it. As a whole it was fun and charming, in classic self ironic and semi-quirky Joss Whedon style. Really nice continued world-building of the MCU too.

I quickly took liking to this team of agents. The characters and their dynamics; they have potential.

My dislikes? At times it became a bit too cartoonish for live action. And the main plot/story wasn't all that engaging.

All in all, the pilot gets a 7/10 from me. As a fan of the Marvel universe: If it stays at this level, I will watch it.

None of the characters are that annoying plus the show doesn't have a character that "everyone and their mother wants to punch in the face" that a lot of shows have and none stand out as "the *****ebag arrogant arse."

I think she can only get better. Now that she stops with the Rising Tide nonsense, and will hopefully be less of a fangirl. At least she was nowhere near as annoying as some of the females in Arrow.

OMG I hate Ollie's sister SO MUCH!

That's such a cop out. There are, and have been, plenty of broadcast network shows that have been just as good as cable ,and even premium, content.

It's not a bad thing to want a show to still be good despite its campy or corniness.

To be fair I think he was talking about overall quality and not level of edginess.

I gave it a 7. After all the hype and the hyperbole, it was just okay. For the type of show this is and the network it's on, I was much more sold by Once Upon a Time's pilot two years ago.

I agree. It is not excuses to think that the first couple of episodes is going to focus mostly on getting to know the Shield team, how they came together, what they do, and just basically getting to know the characters in general. Once this has been established I expect we will be seeing many Villains appear that are directly from the comics, and despite Mike Peterson not relating to the comics as a character his powers definitely did. So, it still tied him to the comics enough, but since he was not a "name" villain from the comics, the story was able to maintain most of it's focus on learning about the team, while also opening up some questions that the audience will want to stick around to find out more about.

I really liked it. Really enjoy the lighter tone with so many darker shows on television

yes, exactly...Not trying to beat on a harp here that every good show is dark or edgy. I thought the Avengers was fantastic and its campy moments made it even more enjoyable.

This show is missing something, it must be the cast for me...

If I had to rate the pilot, i'd give it a 6/10...barely.

I think you're setting yourself up for disappointment. I mean its in the title, "Agents of SHIELD", this show is about a team of ordinary people dealing with extraordinary situations...doesn't necessarily pertain to superheroes.

I'm just saying if you're expecting a more conventional superhero tv series out of this show, I think you're out of luck.

In this universe, the Superheroes are the 'Alpha Dogs', the last resort that's called in an extinction level event like New York. Anything below that, that's what the Agents are for and that's what this show is about.

Even if we don't get more villains and superheroes, I hope we'll get at least some super powered SHIELD agents. In the comics they have some on their payroll.

Never thought of that before. Pretty good idea and one that'd tie the show to the MCU without actually needing CA to show up.
thank you

Regarding Thor not being a god...

This had to be done. Religious people might have a bias against the Thor cinematic character if he was officially a god, which would imply that Jesus, Allah, etc are NOT god. It is a detail that you really don't need to get people thinking about, so they worked around it.
honestly, I find it difficult to believe that people who are THAT narrow minded are clever enough to figure out how the remote control for their TVs work anyway

The promo after this episode advises viewers... not to miss the "end" of every episode......could we be getting something akin to the after credit scenes from Marvel's films....each and every week?!

I also want to know who the blonde lady was at the beginning of the show when Grant Ward breaks into that apartment. It could be nobody of importance, but it seemed like she got away and like she might have notified the goon's that fought with Agent Ward, so wondering if she might play a reoccurring role or maybe even be a yet to be announced villain. Also, does Maria Hill say to agent Ward "Any idea on who Long Shot was going to sell it to" (referring to the Chitauri Neuro link)? I listened to it several times and it kind of sounds like that, but not really sure.

Hah, most shows nowadays are mostly dark and edgy? Not Really, most good shows simply have more stakes and consequences that affect the characters in negative ways. Look at most other similar shows that follow the same episodic format: Bones, CSI, NCIS, Elementary, or every single sitcom.

Once you look at it there are not that many dark and edgy shows, most of them just get so talked about for being very good. There's this weird notion now that almost everything is Dark and Edgy and that every cheesy thing now is a fresh and different when that is simply not the truth.

To be honest I still think it was too serious to even be in the campy and fun side of the spectrum. The pilot was pretty bland all around and if they don't want to do gritty, a decision i am more than fine with then I want them to go wild and crazy. Right now it feels all very safe and unassuming.
