Wow my hearing is bad. It sounded like Longshot to me.

Dude, I heard Long Shot too at first, so don't feel bad, I even posted it earlier, but after it was said to me that it was "Van Chat", I could definitely hear that as well. So, just figured it was my mind trying to make connections.

Anybody got the end credits available anywhere, can check on the actress and character she played? I get the feeling we might see her again. And correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they say she worked for "Rising Tide?" If so, they're a lot bigger than just Skye broadcasting conspiracy theories out of the back of her van.
From the vid of the episode that I've got, the end co-starring credits (I'm assuming she's "Beautiful Woman"?)

Co-Starring:
Ajani Wrighster..... as Ace Peterson
Aaron Behr............as Angry Man
Nicole J. Butler......as Aunt Mindy
Sarah Dumont.......as Beautiful Woman
Dan Sachoff..........as Reporter #1
Arlene Santana......as Reporter #2
Kevin Sifuentes.....as Technician

I think whatever name Hill was referring to was the guy in red tie that Ward picked up and used his glass to get his fingerprints to the fireplace.

So I guess the woman's identity is irrelevant. Oh well.

Still, how can the Avengers not know that Coulson is alive at this point?

He's out and about in public. Hard to believe people aren't getting pictures or video of him.

By the way, I know this is the wrong forum, but since it currently has a decent amount of traffic, I just thought I would let people know the new HD version of the "Age of Ultron" trailer is out and it is really awesome for a teaser. It got me so excited when I saw it, it is hard to imagine we will have to wait a year and a half for it. At least though there will be stuff to keep us busy like this show and movies coming out every 1/2 year. I would post a link, but I am pretty sure the Mod's are wanting to keep it off of the site until they can confirm it is okay with the studio. However, if you search around you will be sure to find it.

If it was on TV, it's pretty much fair game at this point.

Yeah, it would seem, as well as the "Von Chat / Long Shot" character that didn't even seem to get a credit.

Dumont doesn't have much in her acting resume, though she is in Don Jon with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Scarlett Johansson.

It's a long shot (ha!), but I've been hoping that AOS would encounter Whitney Frost/Madame Masque in their adventures. Maybe that's who Dumont turns out to be playing. In the comics, Madame Masque was the lover of not just Tony Stark but Jasper Sitwell, as well. It wouldn't be too much of a stretch to substitute Phil Coulson for Sitwell and give Coulson and Masque a prior relationship, gone sour due to her criminal ties. Phil's a good sub for weedy old comic book Jasper, though the Son of Coul has much better fashion sense. :cwink:

What does them knowing have any baring on this show. For all we know they know whatever secret Hill and the Dr. know as well. He did die.

What's with all this talk of Skye being the weak link? Aside from Coulson she's the driving force of this series.

I'm tired of this Thor not being a god thing. What are they going to do in his movies from now on, just not say the word "god" anymore?

Can someone explain the "Skye Truth Serum" scene to me? Coulson just let's her interrogate Ward for fun or something? Was he testing him? Why let her do it if she wasn't even officially on the team yet?

Skye is awesome, will be fun to see what her character does in later episodes.

By definition, Thor is a demigod, the difference is that he can die where true gods cant.

The truth serum bit was (in my opinion) a two part thing. First off it was to teach Agent Ward a lesson in teamwork. Second it was to convince Skye that they weren't evil and that they just wanted to talk to Peterson, not hurt him or "detain" him like she thought.

Just noticed something on a rewatch - after Skye sends Fitz the audio file from her van, she grabs something from the desk (a Memory Card?) and tucks it in her shirt/bra - hiding it - before she turns around to Melinda and says they're good to go (and Peterson takes Melinda out). I don't think we see whatever that memory card was/is come into play for the rest of the episode, is it something that's going to carry through other episodes?

Oh.... and it's so nice seeing the Mutant Enemy Logo/"grr argh" monster at the end of credits again :)

Why would they? Who would think to send them a picture of him?

So, I truly anticipated watching this and I'm left feeling... meh.

It has possibilities but... took too much time with character introduction and then rushed the end. So... maybe now that they're done the character introduction bit the show will actually be worth an hour of my time but honestly... I can only hope.

Yeah I noticed that too. I figured it would be important but maybe they're saving that for later

I think he was trying to get her to trust SHIELD, so that she'd help them out.

I'm actually surprised by some of the complaints. I really liked the show, a lot more than I thought I would. I think I liked it so much was because of the humor. It was very much in the vein of the Avengers. It was a lot of fun! Plus all the call backs to the movies, especially Iron Man 3 that I wasn't expecting. Coulson is awesome as always (whether he is alive, a clone, a robot, or if that Loki staff turned him into an Asgardian). I've like Ming Na since The Single Guy (and voice of Mulan). And I liked Skye as well.

Man, I wish Whedon could work with the Spider-Man franchise!

Not sure if it is advanced tech or just alien phsyiology...but the THOR movie showed that Asgardians can withstand things that would kill regular humans from earth.

This is totally going to turn into another iteration of "science does not mean 'devices powered by electricity'", isn't it.

( nothing wrong with your comment per se, its just, people seem inordinately bent on some really artificial dichotomies here )

I mean, I think he probably did everything he would have done in Spider-Man when he was doing Buffy. That show is basically a gender flipped Spider-Man TV show.

I also like the small connection to "Civil War" from Maria Hill. Coulson says "A Super Hero, Agent Ward" & Maria Hill says "An Unregistered Gifted". It just shows her personality and that she believes they should all be registered.

Surfer

Yeah, but bear in mind that in the MCU, that really has nothing to do with the various registration schemes from the comics, especially circa Civil War. The key factor seems to be making sure all superhumans are known and categorized, so that threats can be countered and assets monitored.

You know, I never watched Buffy, but something tells me I should look into it. :yay:

I'd recommend it. Buffy & Angel are basically Superhero shows, just with it all being supernatural based stuff instead of sci-fi.

Yup. Considering her paranoid pov, opening the doors for her to any secret Ward might have in his head, even 'Gramsi' (lol'd at that), was a big show of faith (basically, we aint the baddies you think we are, and here's a free pass to find that out for yourself).

It might seem perhaps far too trusting a move for him to have made, but I thought it worked fine and was a funny scene all round.
