Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents of SHIELD - 3x01 - "Laws of Nature" - Discussion Thread

Excellent episode! They really hit a home run.

So many references and nods to previous happenings. I'm surprised Coulson didn't get a new hand from Dr. Cho, and instead is using a hand that doesn't really fit with everything we've seen in the MCU. Unless he's still getting used to the new hand. I like the team of Daisy and Mack, they're a good combo. Fitz was amazing this entire episode. So much emotion and nothing to lose when it comes to getting Simmons back. Train scene was great. Lash's wig was a little bad, but the overall look worked due to his introduction. I didn't really follow any behind the scenes going into the new season, so it was nice to see the fish oil coming into play quicker rather than later.

Where's Simmons? Blue area of the Moon? Titan? I want to know!

Also, I love Coulson's sentimental values in keeping the axe, his arm, and calling Daisy Skye.

Where's Simmons? People have already pointed out it can't be the Blue Area of the Moon, or Titan (that doesn't look like Saturn). As for the idea of Hala... that's out too, as I'll demonstrate.

BTW, as I understand it, Kree-Lar is the name of the city, while Hala is the name of the planet, though it may be largely an academic point. You see, Hala is literally covered in city. As Mar-Vel says, it's "entire surface is covered in machinery, and nothing grows... save power." It's basically the Coruscant of the Marvel universe:

So, no, wherever Simmons is, it does not in any way resemble Hala/Kree-Lar.

In fact, it's much more likely that we got a brief glimpse of MCU's Hala in Guardians of the Galaxy, as the skyline behind the Kree Ambasador:

I largely agree but with the reminder that what applies in 616 might not in the MCU.

I guess Simmons is not over the moon about her current situation. :o

Pretty certain it's Lash... He's credited as Lash in the press release located in the first post, the cast (including the guy playing him), the crew, Marvel employees, the makeup artist all have been calling him Lash in their tweets on Tuesday.

Yeah, I guess it just feels like them using Lash so early on before the movies start is putting the cart before the horse. I enjoy the show for the most part but AOS doesn't have much of a stellar record when it comes to adapting Marvel characters. I guess I'm just a little weary about his portrayal.

Other than using Maximus the Mad, I wonder who they'll have as Villains in future films.

I've skipped most of season 2, and while storywise I'm far behind I thought this episode is excellent and imo on par with any other superhero TV shows on right now. I think if the audience would give it a chance, they will be as pleasantly surprised as I am and will tune in more from now on.

Maybe Lineage, some Kree villains or [BLACKOUT]The Unspoken[/BLACKOUT]? If they get a sequel that is.

You really missed out then, season two was much of the same quality, but I have to admit , they've taken it to another level this year again.

This just started in the UK, great first episode, it looks like they have taken things up a notch once again. The show is so much more cinematic now and the effects have come on leaps and bounds. The characters were always a strong suite of the show but even then things seem to have improved. Looking forward to the rest of the season and Lash looks a great villain so far.
