Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents of SHIELD - 3x01 - "Laws of Nature" - Discussion Thread

Happy to see they are using the name Daisy instead of Skye know the mystery of her character's origins are solved.

Mockingbird doing science! Someone remembered Bobbi was a scientist before she became a Sheild field agent.

I thought Rosalind was going to turn out to be Monica Rappaccini and she had taken over AIM after Aldrich Killian demise seeing as movie AIM was a DARPA style think tank as well.

Great to see William Sadler reprising his role as President Ellis. I like that continuity.

Ant-Man name drop with the mention of the Pym technologies disaster.

Simmons could be on a Kree empire planet trying to escape being experimented on.
Also Iain De Caestecker having to show so much emotion, as well as showing his awkwardness as Fitz has lead me to believe he has so far had the best acting.
Iain De Caestecker is a good actor. He was fantastic in The Fades.

Coulson said that the rival organization is Baskin-Robbins and that's why they always find out
Fitz should of asked Baskin Robbins about the Monolith :cwink:

So I'm guessing the President doesn't want to bother asking these guys first to tackle on the "threats" that he mentioned on television:
Public opinion on the Avengers in the MCU seems a little divided since Sokovia I think.

* Skye's outfit is badass
* Skye's tanktop is pretty badass too
* Fitz was ****ing awesome, especially his freakout
* Lance hunting down Ward? Hell yeah.
* Simmons, stranded on Planet X! Did not expect a reveal this soon but it is most welcome

Helluva season opener.
I still think planet X is the moon Titan, the planet in the sky looks an awful lot like Jupiter

I found that she gave a weird look when seeing Lincoln's picture but I didn't notice this:
get

Mom?

I doubt that she's on Attilan. I don't think that Marvel would want to introduce that before the movie (which I fully expect to ignore all of the Inhumans stuff from this show because, well Kevin Feige and all).

Constance Zimmer was really good, but I still wish that she was playing an established CB character (Abigail Brand?) and that her group was SWORD.

Actually, Feige is not against any MCU TV references in movies, it's just a little harder to plan and easier for the TV shows to reference the movies, but he feels it's inevitable that Movies will reference the TV shows.

The season premiere was great. The whole cast was fantastic, and I loved the performances by Chloe and Iain. They had some great scenes, especially Fitz screaming at the Kree monolith in anguish, and Daisy doing her best to calm the new Inhuman Joey.

And speaking of Joey, I really liked the actor playing him. He made Joey come across as very likable and sympathetic, and I genuinely felt sorry for him when he expressed anguish over having to leave his old life behind after gaining these bizarre powers he doesn't understand and can't control. The actor did a great job of selling Joey's emotions.

Lash was excellent, very menacing and mysterious. He looked very good, and they did a good job of establishing him as a dangerous threat by giving us a sample of his power. Constance Zimmer was a nice addition to the cast as Rosalind, and I'm interested to see how the show will use her going forward. She had a nice scene in the subway with Coulson -- Clark Gregg and Constance Zimmer played off each other nicely.

I can't wait to learn more about this planet that Simmons was transported to. It's definitely going to be an exciting season.

I'll believe it when I see it. He's made other promises that haven't exactly panned out. Plus they already had a golden opportunity to do this in AOU, and didn't.

He has more control NOW than he did for Avengers Age of Ultron for one thing. Also, I don't remember many promises he made that didn't pan out at all. I remember far more success than failure from him in that regard. It will happen and I for one won't be surprised.

Nice theory, but Mack tried to kill Simmons when he was under the control of Kree tech. I guess it may have been self-defense, but still, that does not seem to be how he reacted to people with the gene (he didn't react at all to Skye, even when she pushed him).
It's still possible, but it seems improbable in my view.

Good point. I hadn't thought of that.

There is a good chance that this planet is mostly deserted except for what is hunting her. If there is civilization there the set building and/or CGI would require big budgets. Think season 2 alien city... mostly just hallways and shadows.

Possibly older sister but if she is Lincoln's mother then she gave birth to him at 15 years old if they make the characters the same real life age of the actors.

Well, William Sadler wasn't a surprise to me at all since the credits in the first 10 minutes said "GUEST STARRING: WILLIAM SADLER" on it in big letter while watching it on a small standard def tv. XD It was really cool to still see him mention things that went on in Phase 2 though! Pym tech had a nice mention as well and now I just hope that we get a mention of a devil in Hell's Kitchen...

There's no way that Simmons is on Attilan. Attilan is a hidden city on Earth, not another planet. Also, it's a hidden city, not like an entire planet or continent.

I don't think at all she is on Attilan.
But Attilan can also be in the Blue area of the moon.

Titan is one of Saturn's moon. It's very cold; and though it does have an atmosphere... no oxygen to speak of.

How do you convince people how good this show has gotten?

My guess is that she's putting the mud on her cut so that whatever is after her won't smell the blood. I'm pretty sure she's not in our solar system.

I think she's on Hala.

I don't think so. A desolate, barren wasteland doesn't exactly strike me as the capital planet of a mighty empire.

Besides, Marvel would wait until the Captain Marvel movie to show off the Kree home world.

Perhaps the MCU version of the planet Hala is not a city over every square inch of the planet surface though, it could have major cities and still outside the cities have anything from towns to wooded areas or whatnot...like Earth.

With Simmons being gone for months now, I'm wondering how she's survived on that planet for so long, considering she didn't bring any food or supplies with her. I'm beginning to think that their may be some kind of time dilation involved in being transported or she's been real resourceful in finding food.
