Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents of SHIELD - S02E12 - "Who You Really are"

How exactly did a bunch of humans manage to fight a Kree and an Asgardian? Plus if he can live with Sif then he should have destroyed Bobbi like wet paper.

I wish marvel had the rights to skrulls... lol id so be pushing the Bobbi is a skrull angle now... :cwink:

When did Mack refer to alternate universes?

He referenced a world where he and Bobbi and Hunter were all friends, and everything was cool. It could be taken as a reference to alternate worlds, or a nod to the fact the Movie Universe is separate from the comics universes, or indeed simply a time after everything they have planned goes down when Bobbi can actually be with the man she loves.

I don't think it was really a tease to many dimensions, just a pep talk to get Bobbi to follow their plan/orders/whatever and not to try bringing Hunter in on it.

When did Mack refer to alternate universes?

Once when he Fitz and Hunter were investigating on the docks (something like "In no universe would I ever....") and again when he talked to Bobbi on the plane. (Along the lines of "Maybe in another universe/world") I don't remember his exact words, but it struck me as odd while watching it.

...are not Mexicans nor any other type of Hispanic.

I guarantee everybody on that show portraying a 'Portuguese' was from latin america.

Note to Hollywood...stop lumping everybody with dark hair in the same damn category as if you can swap one group out with the other and no one will notice.

Pretty much, there was also that lady who spoke in Spanish instead of Portuguese. In least this time they didn't have Portuguese people using a Brazilian Portuguese, but then again, i also didn't understand most of what they said.

Just to mention it, i live in Faro, and while it was fun to see places i know shown in there (though the beach they featured is a little far from Faro), it felt a bit weird to see it portrayed like a Mexican city.

I don't remember those statements from the show, but from the sound of it, I don't think Mac was refering to a literal alternate dimension, but a figurative one.

The only thing I didn't like about the episode was the Kree. Maybe it's the fact that both the giant blue, dead version and Ronan looked so fierce. I thought the first time they ran into one, he'd be played by huge actor and his revelation would result in a major impact. Especially to Coulson. Not just "Huh. A Kree."

I guess I just expected more of a Klingon-like first contact. Not a baddy-of-the-week type of meeting.

So did Mack kill Hunter?

I don't think so, I think I heard Hunter take a breath after Mac stopped choking him. I could be wrong though as I will need to rewatch and pay closer attention.

yeah I'm pretty sure he just knocked him out
we'll see him wake up tied to a chair or something next episode

Well also, Bobbi and Mac are trying to hide their agenda from the group, but that doesn't mean they will be willing to kill their friends to achieve it. You can disagree with a friend and still not want them dead. Also, I think Mac's move was done out of fear and desperation for keeping their agenda contained by knocking out Hunter. Giving him time to think on how best to proceed with this situation and perhaps bring Bobbi on board with whats happened, and how will she react when she finds out Mac took down her man. Can't wait!

This is my theory on Mac and Bobbi:

They were planted by somebody (possible Maria Hill or Nick Fury) to go undercover in Coulson's team to make sure a Hydra infestation does not happen again.

Good catch. If I recall, the context was something like "Maybe there's another world where we're all friends." Hinting at parallel universes? Possible connections to Scarlet Witch? Or maybe Dr. Strange?

:cool::cool::cool:

well
If that's the case then why are they looking for the Cube? mack choking hunter. dont think maria hill or nick fury are behind bobbi and mack. Just need to figure out who, If i remember correctly mack says something about what it would do to the team when they strike,

But we also had Palicki's comment in an interview that it "wasn't anything bad"
So "not bad" + doing shady stuff like knocking out a teammate = something Fury would totally do

but idk, I am really genuinely stumped as to what it could be, usually I'll have like 20 different theories in my head, but this time i'm just clueless

My only problem with the "they are working with SWORD" idea is that I'm not sure that the cinematic universe would bother giving it a new name. I think it's more likely that they would just consider themselves to be SHIELD, to simplify matters for the audience.

Keeping that in mind, is it more likely that they would introduce Abigail Brand, or more likely that Maria Hill would play that role? I'd say Maria Hill...UNLESS the outcome is that the character is killed off and Coulson remains in control.

But even if it is Hill, and even if they don't call themselves SWORD, I think the general idea is the same...a new division of SHIELD who wants to do things differently than Coulson.

It makes no sense for them to be working for Fury. So he named Coulson the new director, tasked him personally with rebuilding SHIELD, and gave him the macguffin box, only to then send two operatives into spy on/undermine him? Yeah no, that just be dumb.

And Mac knocking out Hunter is only to make things worse. Logically, one of two things will happen. Either:

-Hunter wakes up and is now even MORE suspicious than he was before.

or

-Mac stashes him somewhere, and the others get suspicious because Hunter has mysteriously disappeared all of a sudden.

Either way, this won't end well for Mac.

Nice to see Skye's situation moving along fairly briskly, the Kree history lesson was an unexpected surprise and more Sif is always cool but overall this one fell flat for me. Casting David Boreanz's less talented little brother as Tik-Tak the Kree Bro didn't help matters and I'm finding Mack and Bobbi's secret business a flat out snore. Just get it over with already.

So unfortunately I kinda felt like this episode was a dud compared to the last few. It had that cheap 'problem of the week' feel that I thought we were finally rid of during season one.

Yea, I think we can safely rule Fury out. He's the one who gave Coulson the toolbox, and would probably be intimately aware of the data it contains.

Them reporting to Hill would basically be a retread of the May/Fury plotline from last season. Also, whatever Mockingbird and Mack are planning looks like it's going to have pretty dire consequences for Coulson and co. when they "pull the trigger" as Mack said. Spying for Maria Hill doesn't fit IMO.

My guess, like some have already stated, would be SWORD.

Also, backdoor pilot for a SWORD series! :) If the smilie didn't tip you off, I was kidding on that last part.

Jed Wheddon was on record saying they can't use SWORD. Not sure if he was lying as to not spoil it. Even though Joss created SWORD, the fact that it debuted in X-Men comics makes it plausible he was telling the truth

Cool...then all the more reason to call it SHIELD, even if it is clearly SWORD.

In fact, Abigail Brand is a mutant...so it is possible they can't use her either and would need another character to play that role.

I guess my point is that people shouldn't be so caught up in names. It doesn't really matter if they call it SWORD or not.

People have argued they do have the rights to the Skrull, just not the Super Skrull. Personally, I have no idea. Obviously, lots of things introduced in Fantastic Four are available (including the Kree). The Skrulls had Secret Invasion. But who knows.

When Bobbi said REAL back up.... I was thinking SUPER POWERED back up.... so Stark and/or Clint would make perfect sense since its a tie in to Age of Ultron and we all know the opening movie starts with the Avengers battling Hydra and Strucker....this will be perfect to tie in to Clint as to his whereabouts post Cap: Winter solider.....and even Stark for that matter finding out by spying on Maria Hill when she "left work" at Stark Industries to work with Coulson toward the end of season 1....its Avengers related
