    Happy Independence Day, Guest!

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents of SHIELD - S02E12 - "Who You Really are"

Jed Wheddon was on record saying they can't use SWORD. Not sure if he was lying as to not spoil it. Even though Joss created SWORD, the fact that it debuted in X-Men comics makes it plausible he was telling the truth

If there's an actual legit/FOX legal reason they can't use SWORD, then my next bet would be some made up SWORD equivalent. Alien fighting SHIELD sub division. As far as I'm aware, Hunter and Mack are completely made up characters, so I wouldn't put it past them to make up a completely new organisation to fit the role SWORD would have had.

Yeah, they can call it SPEAR or something like that.

SWORD was mentioned by name in a deleted scene for the first Thor film. Marvel can use it.

The one thing that annoyed me about this episode (aside from the slightly off pacing) was the rather obvious slight redressing of the Griffith Hotel from Agent Carter to become the hospital in Portugal.

^

Haha. I didn't notice that at all. Then again, I hardly ever notice stuff like that. Was it as obvious to most of y'all?

not at all.. but if I did notice.. it wouldn't have bothered me at all. seems like a small thing to be bothered about.

I did not notice it either, but I would not be bothered by it. If it saves them money I can understand why they do it.

Nope, both of them are comic book characters, though it can be argued that they don't resemble much or at all their counterparts:

Mack resemble to his counterpart:
"Never too comfortable with all the almost alien technology on display at S.H.I.E.L.D."
"MacKenzie leaked to Urich information regarding Fury being ousted from the agency. It’s unclear if Mac's leak to the Bugle was done so under orders from someone within (or outside) the agency or for his own personal reasons (perhaps still holding a grudge against Fury after all these years)."
"and in 2004 he published, UnSHIELDed: An Unauthorized Insider's Look Behind the World's Most Powerful Global Spy Network."

A shield agent not confortable with alien technology and who leak information to somebody.

Lance hunter is a british spy like his counterpart:

Ok, so I love Sif episodes :D

Insta-win for that, but they handled her memory loss so well. Her school-girl laugh at the sound of Thor's name (:hrt:), her realisation of who she was, it was all perfect. And Coulson introducing himself as "Son of Coul"? Perfection :D

Also great work introducing the Kree, really neatly done, and took so much inspiration from Guardians. Synergy at work! The Inhuman story is really slotting in nicely, and this episode really put things in place after it was in danger of getting a bit too other-worldly.

Not too fond of the Mac/Bobbi thing. It's building up to be this big thing, but they're not traitors so what else is big enough? Still, the team dynamic is stronger than ever, and Coulson was in fine form this week.

One question though - why would Odin/Loki send Sif to hunt down the Kree? He's making the right moves, rather than the Loki moves we would expect...

Why wouldn't he? If Odin started acting too erratically, people would notice. Also, he gets one of Thor's closest allies out of Asgard for a time. Sending her away makes it less likely she'll notice anything is wrong. Come to think of it, I'd be willing to bet that he's been sending her (and the other warriors) away on a lot of missions since he took over.

That's kinda the conclusion I came to. Partly out of normality, partly out of hoping they get removed from the equation.

Also nice to get confirmation that Heimdall got reinstated :)

Yes and if I were Loki I'd send the Warriors Three and Sif running all over the 9 realms keeping their attention away from Asgard.

Though what is Loki's endgame in ruling Asgard? If he's a decent ruler, is it that bad? He wanted to enslave Earth because Midgard is beneath him apparently.

I think after having failed to bring the Tesseract to Thanos, I'm guessing, for the time being, he's just content to remain under the radar and continue hiding in plain sight on Asgard - ruling it as Odin would rule to avoid arousing suspicion and avoid drawing any unwanted attention to himself. And he does technically have what he ultimately wanted in the first Thor movie, he is king of Asgard (just no one else knows it).

Just my take on it though.

There's only so long though until he'll want to reveal himself.

His ego won't allow him to remain in disguise forever.

He also seems to be gathering a group, just incase Thanos ever does come knocking.

Like,
- Lorelei
- Inhumans
- The Kree Vin-Tak

Vin-Tak went back to Hala, not Asgard. But I do believe he is forming an army to stop Thanos coming after him (which ultimately fails and leads to Ragnarok)
