Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents of SHIELD TV series for ABC - General Discussion - LEVEL 11 - Part 10

Dove Cameron is an odd choice to play the Ruby character, but I think they were going for irony by casting a stereotypical teenage girl manufactured by Disney to play the part of a genetically altered HYDRA super assassin. I think the main problem is that I’m losing track of who the big mad is. Is it Kasius, is it Ruby, is it Daisy, or is it someone else?

It's not Kasius. Kasius was the big bad and now he's dead (or yet to be born, depending on your perspective). Daisy isn't the big bad even if she's possibly the catalyst for all the bad things. The main badguy is either Ruby or General Hale.

Those two are the only shows on TV I care about right now. I adore Elementary.

What does the end of the world on AOS mean for Marvel's other tv shows? Does each show take place in alternate timelines/realities?

If you’re talking about the Netflix shows, I believe they’re on the same timeline (they were alluding to New York in season 1 of Jessica Jones). I’m not sure about The Gifted or Legion though.

The answer is 'no' to both.

Neither Gifted or Legion are part of the shared MCU. They are part of an extended universe of FOX mutant X-Men inspired stories.

her blonde hair and pouty lips are quite distracting

She is not just intimidating or convincing as an evil character.

Is Ruby supposed to be, or more like Natasha Romanoff when the Black Widow is reveled?

What I don't get is why von Strucker and Talbot were supposed to be freaked out when Ruby entered Hydra Prep's lunch room and ignored them.

Or the big baddie is Qovas, and we just don't know it yet.

I think it was just supposed to throw them off balance. They wake up someplace they don't recognize, their instinct is telling them that they're a prisoner, but "oh hey, breakfast", and then being ignored by the only other person they see puts them in a weird place mentally. Especially someone like Talbot who is used to having his orders followed and commanding respect from those around him. It was just a way to confuse them and probably assess how they react so Hale could adjust her approach accordingly.

Re-watch the scene when they try it on Coulson he perfectly sees through it and points it out. It's a technique to show dominance and through the subject off balance. She ignores them to treat them as if they are nothing to her and attacks them when the try to force her attention. It a psychological way of letting them know whose boss. The show did a great time repeating it with von Strucker and Talbot just for Coulson to tear it down.

A big problem with Ruby is that she pales in comparison to Mallory Jansen's wonderful turn as Aida in Season 4.

Would've been better if somehow AIDA/ Madam Hydra was brought into the real world as the head of Hydra instead of General Hale or Ruby.

She also would've been more fitting as the destroyer of worlds. Her world (the framework) was destroyed, so now she's trying to destroy the real world.

is it possible the changing of the release date of IW effected the pacing of AOS

IW was originally do for release on 4th of may

It got moved forward to the 27th of april.

would the AOS people have been aware sufficiently in advance. if they were we could be in for a nice treat, if they weren't it might explain the who is the villian issue.

I doubt Disney consulted ABC and the showrunners about the release date change.

The show has been steadily dipping since Deathlok. The return of evil Fitz was a highlight, but this Ruby and Hale stuff hasn't kept my interest. Kinda ready for the show to end now.

Honestly, a week's delay might be a good thing. I'm not expecting Agents of SHIELD to have Infinity War spoilers, but the first season was definitely awkward with The Winter Soldier. You essentially had four days notice before they spoiled it. An extra week could help.

true.

Just that something seems a bit off this arch. Could be me. Could be that they had to do a late rework.

agree though, if there was a nod from the show to IW i wouldn't mind a wait. Its better on its own feet.

Kind of thinking out loud here, but if the "war that is coming to Earth" that the Confederacy tried warning Hale about is Thanos, then the entire arc of this season is stopping one women's really stupid idea after she got that warning. (That being "just in case they're lying, lets put my psychotic daughter in a weapon making machine built by another psychopath. What could possibly go wrong?) And then AoS gets a 6th season, if they thwart Ruby as world destroyer before Thanos can even show up, they better have a really good reason why Coulson and company aren't apart of the forces that show up to fight Thanos. Unless it turns out Infinity War takes place only over a matter of days, but I don't think so. Even if it did, if those guys can fly to where some signal is going off in a matter of hours, what are the odds none of them notice a gigantic spaceship flying above New York? Or they do but don't bother to go?

I prefer the way they handled the Winter Soldier. Instead of TV S.HI.E.L.D. going to the Triskelion to fight with Captain America you saw other parts of the war at other S.H.I.E.L.D. installations.

While my fantasy finale was the team winning their fight only to land in New York and see Spider-Man going up the stargate perhaps seeing the battle at a location other than New York or Wakanda with a couple of Inhumans and cyborgs leading the remaining S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents at another front of the total war.
