Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents of SHIELD TV series for ABC - General Discussion - LEVEL 11 - Part 2

My guess is he was just playing on the joke that the crowd were SHIELD agents (hence the need for security lanyards). SHIELD agents would know what those secret weapons are, even if the general audience would not.

My apologies for being vague. Rereading my earlier post now, it comes across as dumb.

I was thinking that Koenig was referring to an Avenger appearance.

In my opinion, they need to be willing to give this network show a character that "matters."

The biggest complaint I heard last season was that there were no comic characters on the show. Of course, there were PLENTY of comic characters on the show...but most people have never heard of Deathlok or Garrett etc. If they could just spare one name that casual fans might know on this nationally televised show with millions of viewers (like they are doing on Netflix which will have a tiny fraction of those viewers) then it could only help.

I think people expect marvel heroes to show up not a bunch of SHIELD agents...well the show is Agent of SHIELD not MArvel heroe or The Avengers

Well...the main cast aren't even in the comics...so I see the frustration. They could have used some characters before they got powers or something...and then after they get powers, add them in as a costar in a movie or something. Marvel seems very hesitant to "waste" a character on a network tv show...but more than willing to put characters on an internet show. As I've said before...a slight tweak to Frank Castle to make him a SHIELD agent after a stint in the military would have done wonders for the public perception of the show, maybe instead of Tripplett.

I hope they decide to go with a quicker pace this season, I know they were limited because they had to wait for TWS to drop in season one but with that out of the way I'm thinking they can leave us on the edge of our seats every week.

I'm sure it will pick up more. But I hope they aren't afraid to slow build for a big payoff when appropriate as well. There's room for both approaches.

S.H.I.E.L.D. #1 launches in December by Mark Waid with rotating artists, in-continuity and starring the characters from the TV show.

Carlos Pacheco, Alan Davis, Chris Sprouse, and more artists will be on it. "This is SHIELD the TV show but with an unlimited budget," Waid said. "The structure of the series is done-in-one. Coulson and his team have a mission, and if we need someone for a mission, everyone in the Marvel Universe is available as a potential Agent."

"I love Coulson because he knows everything about the Marvel Universe. He knows every powerset and eveything that he would need to get jobs done. Rocket Raccoon and Howard the Duck are right for the job? We'll bring them in.

"I couldn't be happier about this series."

Announcement! Mark Waid is writing "S.H.I.E.L.D.," joined by a rotating team of artists including Carlos Pacheco, Alan Davis and Chris Sprouse (cover art above). "This is S.H.I.E.L.D. the TV show, the unlimited budget edition," Waid said. "This is our chance to introduce a lot of the other characters into the Marvel Universe, and give them the Marvel Universe spin."

Waid said that every Marvel superhero is a potential S.H.I.E.L.D. agent in this series, describing the book as a "stealth Marvel team-up." Expressing his fondness for Phil Coulson as a character, Waid said he liked how the character is a genuine superhero fan, and he'll use that in the comic to assemble teams (one of which will include Rocket Raccoon and Howard the Duck, the writer indicated). "No one's off limits."

Also: "Leo [Fitz] finally gets his helper monkey," Waid said. "It seemed like a fitting Marvel Universe welcome gift."

I can understand not using a lot of Marvel heroes on the show right away. However, using characters like Mockingbird, or Daisy Johnson, or Abigail Brand, or Clay Quartermain, etc. There's no reason why those characters couldn't show up. As for the comic, it seems cool.

So Cap, Thor, Thing, Spidey, Storm and Fitz's Monkey are all SHIELD agents?

It's pretty much a means of showing, like they said, that they can and will use anyone they need for specific missions and deputize them as SHIELD agents for it.

Storm as a SHIELD Agent would actually be bad ass.

The specific choices are interesting, because it deliberately includes Spider-Man (Sony), Storm (Fox), and Thing (Fox), showing how the comic is not limited to what the MCU has rights to.

A coue of years ago there was a Mockingbird series in development. Any chance of a spinoff? Instead of doing Agent Carter for the season 3 break there could be a Mockingbird series?

No but she will appear in season two.

I get that, but I'm seriously hoping she's introduced in season 2 but winds up getting her own show. I'm sure they still have all the material created during pre-production from several years ago. They're basically doing the same with Jessica Jones. Originally there was going to be a weekly Hulk, Mockingbird, Jessica Jones and a Cloak & Dagger series on ABC and/or affiteated station and they were supposed to all be tied to the MCU.

I loved Bobbie back in day, and would love for her to get a TV series.

Mockingbird always worked best for me in the comics when part of an ensemble of characters.

A Season 2 Guess:

Don't want to get to deep in the "guessing" weeds to early, but what if Lucy Lawless' so far released "Isabelle" character name is a undercover identity for Bobbi Morse. I am sure others have speculated this to themselves or on this site. Lucy Lawless might actually play Mockingbird. And since this is an alternate reality universe, maybe she and Clint (Hawkeye) are a divorced couple or already have a past dating history that went sour, both still working for SHIELD. Like I said, just an early guess for Season 2.

should mockingbird be about the same age as hawkeye or younger? Just because they are married in the comic or was......they don't need to follow it 100%

Lucy is only 46, although I pictured Bobbi Morse to be in her early-mid 30's.
