So between Agent Carter and AOS, we have 3 former Dollhouse actors. Who will show up next? I do hope Reinhardt guest stars in Agent Carter.

They can show him before he was in prison before he was captured. Or Peggy could interrogate him if he is captured and try to find out more.

I don't know if this has been brought up before, regarding Talbot, probably has, but... (potential spoiler warning)
I think Glenn Talbot was killed by HYDRA in the episode where HYDRA impersonated S.H.I.E.L.D. We saw that disc thing flying towards him and then the camera cut away. Next time we see him, he trusts Coulson. It seemed too fast for me. It would also give them a way to bring Carl Creel back into the picture, because Glenn Talbot has access to him.

That Talbot was a Hydra agent using the face switcher mask thingy, not the real Talbot. Although they still could have killed him and switched him out with another agent

I know what you're saying and it could be interesting but this has nothing to do with the plot of Agent Carter. It could do as you suggest, maybe, but it would be better just doing something else and leaving AoS plots to AoS.

I lurk nearly every day, but post infrequently.

That being said, I usually watch this show with my kid, but after the "surgery" scene yesterday, I'm going to preview them from now on. That was just appalling. I have never seen anything that gruesome on network TV before. I can expect it from Game of Thrones or something like that on cable, but this is a show that is a quasi-kid's show. I am extremely disappointed. I mean, I could go along with the Coulson brain surgery or the gory alien, since it furthered the plot, but this just seemed to be ridiculous.

To add to this post of mine.... let's throw the sister into the question as well (Season 1 Episode 19 "The Only Light in the Darkness", Koenig asks Ward to list his immediate family, Ward's response "Two parents, a sister, two brothers.")

I wonder if Skye is actually Ward's sister? :shr:

Skye's mom's vivisection was disturbing. I was surprised we saw something that graphic on this show. Nobody can claim they're holding their punches now.
I was a bit confused by what Whitehall actually did to de-age. Did he take the lady's organs and implant them on himself, or just bodily fluids?... that guy is truly sick. Love it.

This episode was excellent. It's going to be a long wait once they go on hiatus.

Agreed. It was excellent, but supremely gross and I hope they never do that again.

How did the scene in question not further the plot? "How is Whitehall still young?" is a real question. "What is Skye's mom and how is she not aging?" is a real question. Would you react differently if Whitehall were performing a rather gruesome looking surgery to save someone's life? I found showing Coulson's exposed brain while he's screaming "let me die" more unsettling than what they showed last night but by your own admission you were ok with that. Is your problem context related rather than gore related?

I wasn't actually okay with the Coulson thing, it bothered me at the time. As much as they reran that part, I got used to it and could let it go. My point was the gore did not further the plot at all. He could have said, "Let's take a look inside" while holding a scalpel and the scene could have ended and we would have known exactly what he did. We would have gotten the point of what he was going to do, but we didn't have to watch it. We could have had Simmons read the file on Whitehall describing some of his gruesome surgeries, Bakshi state what he did, but we really didn't need to see it. It was beyond a PG-13 level. The context was pretty horrible too. It would be like a Kermit Gosnell movie being rated PG-13 while showing his ghastly activities of preserving fetal body parts, cutting off feet, snipping necks, etc. Some things aren't necessary to see in order to infer what is happening. I also think the blue alien was needlessly gory. They could have had him whole with tubes sticking out of him, but the 360 view of his entrails hanging out is also a bit much. The Whitehall surgery scene was just beyond the pale for me, especially on a show that is geared towards a younger demographic.

Incest is more objectionable than the surgery (not that his is possible considering Ward's daddy is not Skye's daddy)

They haven't had sex. It would be no worse than Star Wars. Incest is certainly not more objectionable than Nazi dissection of living people for bizarre experimentation. Otherwise, Larry, Darryl and Darryl might be next season's supervillains.

Short run for Tim Dekay, Ward is cleaning house it seems, but I wonder if he's getting his mole on again, very hard to tell with him. I also liked the way they did the time passing flashbacks with Whitehall.

So is Dichen Lachman Skye's Mom?

I also wonder what exactly Bobbi is up to, really liking her addition to the show though.

I also enjoyed the mentions of The Red Skull and how certain they were that he's dead.......I wonder.......

Looking at next weeks promo my first thought was "Madame Masque?" :shr:

The fact that Red Skull and Captain America are spoken of as historical figures in the MCU as if they were someone like the Red Baron or Nathan Hale makes me smile.

Nathan Hale? Ha! He's got nothing on Rudolf Roessler or Francis Marion! :STR:

No, that was the episode before that.

Bobbi wants to be known as Hunter Rider after doing the cowgirl with Lance in the car. :p

I disagree.

It was edgy and disturbing but it illustrated the lengths to which this now elderly but still extremely dangerous evil man would go to unlock the secret to possible immortality. It wasn't pretty but it was compelling television and I think the show shouldn't shrink from moments like that.

As for watching with your child, I hope he/she wasn't too badly shaken up. I liken it to watching the X-Files with your child. Some episodes are more appropriate for that than others and while several are fine, there are definitely some that, depending on age/maturity level, shouldn't be viewed by children.

You're still gonna watch the next episode, right? :oldrazz:

It depends on if they keep this kind of stuff up or not. I will if they tone it down.

Marvel has a bunch of crap cartoons for the kids. Glad the live action stuff has been made more mature, just because it is based off of "funny books" doesn't mean it should be made with kids in mind.

Keep in mind that the primary target demo for most primetime programming is adults 18-34.

This is also a spin-off of MCU films set in the same universe, and those are rated PG-13. The level of gore in the "surgery scene" was definitely still just PG-13 level. You wanna see R-rated network fare, check out NBC's Hannibal...or some of the other procedurals out there.

Yeah…. to be perfectly honest, I've seen just as gruesome imagery on X-Files back in the day and Fringe. The latter show showed people blowing up, rotting from the inside out, and oozing from every pore.

And X-Files' HOME episode? If you want disturbing network television, that one took the cake. I've never watched Hannibal, but I hear they get away with some crazy stuff on there.

The scenes were necessary to reveal just how evil, depraved and desperate Whitehall is. Loved the Supervillain Teamup at the end!

As a whole, I do think it's important to maybe preview each episode if you do watch it with children regardless. So many of us were kvetching that the show didn't go dark or mature enough last season for the adult viewers. Now that they are in a later timeslot, the show can go to those dark, sometimes gory places they'd been holding back from for a while. Approved!

This. What do you think all the Soldiers on your News Channel are doing day in, day out?

It's hypocritical to see anything wrong with that when you see people get shot regularly on this show.

Kids are like a sponge but sheltering them from life will have a far more detrimental effect on them.

Deep down, could the real issue might be that you are squeamish?
