SHIELDsite.net has 42 images from the SHIELD pilot. Some of them could be considered spoilery, I suppose. There are BTS photos sprinkled through the collection.

So we can now sorta make out Ron Glass' name on his badge: "Stretian, M.D.?"

Something like that. I feel compelled to point out that an LMD would not need a doctor to clear him for active duty or fret about the amount of recovery time he'd taken after being injured. (For those advocating the "Coulson is an LMD" theory. :cwink:)

A TV ad I hadn't seen played on DisneyXD tonight with some new scenes that I assume were from the pilot.
At one point Coulson and some agents were standing next to a van when the side door blasted out at them. The door flew straight at Phil, who calmly bent backwards out of its way without ever changing his expression. That was neat and just a wee bit Matrix-y. :word:

Even though I know it's a long shot that's never gonna happen, I'm gonna keep on hoping that Conrad's character is Dr. Walter Lawson until they tell me otherwise. And I'll pretty much be doing that with every hunky male scientist character added to this show from here on out. :D

whoever his playing he better be a character from the comics.

I bet Coulson is a shapeshifting Chitauri (they were shapeshifters in The Ultimates) who believes himself to be the real Coulson.

The Chitauri in the MCU weren't shapeshifters, nor were they smart enough to think that they were anything other than killing machines. They have a hive mind and seemed to have no personality of their own. All of the ones on Earth died when their mothership was blown up.

any unannounced male marvel role must be Hank Pym

any unannounced female marvel role must be Janet Van Dyne

Right now I am going to say that Conrad is probably not Pym, though I think introducing Pym periodically through Agents of SHIELD would be the smart thing to do. It would allow the character to be fleshed out and possibly sow some seeds for Ultron in AoU. Perhaps Conrad is taking over as Doc Samson?

Yeah I'm hoping that's where it came from.
I was watching the 1st Avenger this weekend with a bud and basically told him that's where Lola flying came from. lol

And now we know why no one must touch Lola. :)

I think it will be. The reason J. August Richard's character isn't an (important) character from the comics is because he's pretty much a walking plot device. They probably didn't want to cheapen any characters with the potential to have more interesting story.

I mean, Conrad is playing a scientist. With the sheer amount of scientists available in the comics, there's no reason to not take one.

Plus he's supposed to be recurring, not just a guest.

Bear McCreary on composing for Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Walking Dead & more...

No, no. Can you tell me a little about the process of building the S.H.I.E.L.D. theme song? Because you talked in the [BMI/White Bear Character of Music] panel about how you found The Walking Dead theme song. Can you tell us a little about how you found the S.H.I.E.L.D. theme song?

Finding the theme for S.H.I.E.L.D. took a lot of collaboration between me and Joss and Jed [Whedon] and Maurissa [Tancharoen] and the other producers because its such a specific sound. We needed something big, that sounded like it belonged in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but we also needed something intimate because these aren't superheroes, these are regular people. These are the human beings that have to come in and clean up the mess. So musically we wanted to represent that. We wanted something that felt super heroic but also quirky and intimate. I mean at the end of the day it needs to sound a little bit like Marvel and a little bit like Joss.

But like 'oh I really liked guitar for Coulson' or 'oh I really liked blue'. Something like that.

Well for this show, I've been fortunate to work with ABC and Disney/Marvel. Everyone's understood the need for a full orchestra. So actually we have a full symphonic orchestra at our disposal for every episode. So its a pretty big canvas. And you know, really Coulson's theme is the theme of the show. He is the leader of this group. You're going to hear a lot of big brass. We have six French horns. The score to Star Wars had four French horns. I mean six is crazy! And so a full section of brass that's pounding out his theme when he comes out in his heroic moments. It's pretty fun because as a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe he is a hero to us. We love him.

It's really cool to be able to write him a fanfare like that, because in one of the movies that would be inappropriate. You wouldn't do that for Coulson when Thor or Captain America are in the same story. But here Coulson he is the hero. So its like transferring the energy to him because he really is the leader. It's all about him.

Don't think they'd recast Samson for no reason. Might as well leave that character alone.

Ty Burrell is busy with Modern Family so they'll have to recast Doc Samson
