They said that there will be a mix of threats, including otherworldy ones. One can only hope that means that Loki or some of Marvel's cosmic characters/races will make appearances. They also said that they're open to having any Avenger swing by, if the opportunity arises. That makes me wonder if Marvel doesn't already have some superhero appearances planned.

Well considering their budget for the show, the only heroes from the current Avengers Roster that they could bring onto the show would be Captain America, Black Widow, or Hawkeye, with the latter two being the most likely ones.

They can’t really do Hulk since they don’t have the budget to do the effects properly, but they can still use Bruce Banner to some lesser extent. I seriously doubt that they could afford to have Downey appear as Iron Man in an active role for even an episode and while Thor is more of a possibility than the former two, it wouldn’t be healthy for their budget in making some of his powers come to life on the television screen.

Plus, bringing in any of the Avengers, mainly the big four, would also require them to tackle any of the heroes’ reactions towards learning that Fury lied to them about Coulson’s death.

"The Zeppo" is kind of a meta-episode focused on the "useless" character of the show, Xander. Everyone has a function or power they serve in the Scooby Gang except for him (one's a witch, two are slayers, one's a vampire, one's a werewolf, one's the supernatural expert), and his bitter ex, whom he's still in love with, cruelly points that fact out to him at the beginning episode, essentially shattering him. It's an episode in which the Gang faces their ~Most Horrific Apocalypse Ever~...yet we don't actually see it because we stay with Xander the whole time, and they just want him to stay on the sidelines where he'll be out of danger.

So instead, we just get glimpses of all this world-ending melodrama in the periphery, whenever Xander kind of awkwardly walks in on it - kinda like if someone walks in on a dramatic episode of Buffy completely out of context - and it's hilarious. Meanwhile, making his best attempt to stay out of trouble, Xander finds himself getting roped into a night of "fun" with a gang of juvenile delinquents who turn out to have been recently-risen-from-the-dead and planning to blow up the school. Xander figures out their plot, chases them down, defeats them all and stops the bomb from going off at the last second. All of this remains unknown to everyone else on the show, as all of his friends were too busy saving the world to notice. And Xander doesn't even bother telling them, having finally, quietly, regained his bravery/confidence, as he happily listens to their war stories of the night before and how they just barely survived "The Big One."

My description can't possibly do it justice, but the way the micro and macro storylines intersect is almost always awesome and hilarious, and the whole episode is pretty much a work of genius. It's the perfect example of how to highlight "the little guy," imo. So if this series could mirror any episode of any show Joss has ever created, I'm SO glad it's this one.
Oh I just remembered this is exactly how Marvels is.

I'm going to say that both Stark and Fury make an appearance at some point in season 1. Furthermore, my guess is that from here on out anyone who signs a multi-picture deal with Marvel probably has an option included in the contract for TV appearances.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if we see cameos from War Machine and Falcon, both seem like they would fit in nicely with this show.

Love Marvels. I'm pretty sure Whedon mentioned it or was asked about it in one of the many SDCC/D23 timeframe interviews that have been out recently, and acknowledged the similarities.

Sam Jackson is all but lobbying to play Fury, so if that doesn't happen I'll be shocked. With the heavy SHIELD presence in TWS, it would be surprising if a few characters from that movie don't pop up here and there, beyond Maria Hill. Natasha and Clint would be easy to do in terms of FX, but getting Johannson or Renner might be difficult. We might also see [BLACKOUT]flashbacks of Peggy Carter, seeing as she was the first Director of the agency.[/BLACKOUT] And of course, Tom Hiddleston said that he has talked to Joss about reprising his role as Loki, which would be horribly fitting.

I would worry terribly for the agents if they ended up somehow meeting Loki without Thor or the Hulk present. :csad:

Any information about the directors of non-pilot episodes?

Man I was wearing my Avengers "A" tee to visit my kids (took an Amtrak from Kansas City to Chicago) and a few people noticed and out of the blue just say "I can't wait to see the tv show". This is looking like it'll be a hit ALL OVER.

David Straiton (Dollhouse, Angel, Fringe, Heroes) directed episode 2. Beyond that, I don't think we know yet.

idk what the song is but it kind of ruined the promo for me.

EDIT: Just looked the song up with SoundHound. It's called Soldier's Angel by Stevie Nicks.

EDIT2: Seeing all the actors together made me realize how young they all are with the exception of Melinda May. Makes Coulson seem like Doctor Who.

I was about to say I don't know the song, but it sounds like Stevie Nicks. Cool!

So awesome! It doesn't dramatically add to my excitement for this show, but the fact that a '62(?) Corvette will be prominently featured just sweetens the pot for me.

Anyone wanna take bets on who's gonna die by the end of the season? I say one of the Fitz-Simmons duo.

Those two are odds-on favorites in the deadpool, followed closely by Skye. Whedon tries hard to get the audience to like characters so that when he kills them off in some horrible way fans will get upset. Those three lead the cutesy parade, so all of them have bull's-eyes on their "adorable" backs.

hope they don't keep killing the characters off, I'm tired of it in the comics.

Why can't it be a simple Search and locate show without death all the time?
