It's possible, but we've seen no sign of shapeshifting in the movie Chitauri. The shapeshifting is the reason Skrull transplants in humans can actually be done.

Also, if the final line this season is some character (maybe even Coulson) saying "He loves us", I predict that the season 2 ratings will skyrocket.

Okay, I consider myself fairly knowledgeable, but he loves us? I'm lost...

ok. I love you all. I love SHIELD. I'm cryng.
The episode was really groundbreaking.

Love you, too, Alex. Glad you're happy (but crying). :cwink:

Here are the quotes from the doctor:

“Director Fury moved heaven and earth. He had a team of scientists working around the clock, using procedures that no good doctor would ever allow.”

“After what you had been through, we wanted to restore the man you had once been so we gave you a pleasant memory of a beautiful island. We didn’t want you to be that thing. You had lost your will to live. We tried to give it back.”

I'm not so sure the doctor is covering up some bigger mystery here, as some suggested. If he was, why use the word "thing?" Wouldn't that be a dead giveaway to Coulson if he really was trying to hide the fact that he was no longer 100% human? I think it's more likely that the doctor was telling the truth, but he may not know all the answers.

Also, there has to be some reason Fury would go to all that trouble. That's why I bolded the first two parts. He had scientists working on Coulson instead of doctors. This implies that it was a technical experiment, one that a normal doctor would see as unethical.

So, he's part cyborg. This will probably dovetail with what goes on in TWS with the merging of human thought patterns with mechanical bodies (Mandroid), which will eventually lead to Ultron.

That about right? Maybe?

The doctor obviously changed Coulson to Ben Grimm. After an angry letter from Fox, however, he could no longer allow Coulson to be that Thing. :o

My money is on Phil being a C.H.U.D. -- reformed, of course, so he doesn't feast on human flesh or live in a sewer.

Glad you liked it. It really rekindled my interest in the show. Next Tuesday needs to hurry up already.

What indication is there that Coulson now knows everything? He had a vision of one traumatic suppressed memory and then filled in some of the blanks from a few scant details given to him by a doctor who wasn't there for all of what happened and only knows a little bit. It seems pretty clear to me that all he knows right now is that Tahiti was a lie, he was actually dead for several days, and that what happened to him was unethical and extremely traumatic.

Coulson was seeing things that we aren't really privy too. He saw where he was while he was dead. We got to see a tiny fraction of what he saw. One would assume that his memory of events during that week are a little more than what we saw.

Kree. I still say kree.

Also, it's 12 episodes into the new season. Yes, the show isn't fantastic. But the secret isn't that big a deal. It's not like we have been waiting years.

No kidding.I for one had no expectation of learning anything substantive until at least the season finale.

We got an early glimpse and people are still "Wah,I wanna know everything now!!!!"

Everyone and their mother thinks he could be Deathlok. :o

Obviously you lie. Now I know what kind of person you are.

That would fit with the fact Amador noticed something physically different about him, when she saw him with her bionic eye.

GUYS I'VE FIGURED IT OUT!!!!!!

It's purgatory...

Skye was a lot less annoying in this episode. I still think her character is slightly predictable, though.

I want to know more about Raina.

I do think Coulson could be part cyborg. At this point, it's the only logical explanation. I'm excited to see how this will tie into the MCU.

Pleaseeeee let Mike Peterson by Deathlok!

So is Centipede's (and it's leader's) goal to ultimately just take down SHIELD, or do they have their sights set on larger things? I mean I'm just wondering if it's going to be revealed that Centipede also wants to try take over the world and how they exactly plan on doing so when they still have to contend with the Avengers as well.

While we don't know it yet, they could be a branch of HYDRA.

I kind of suspected the Terrigen mist because they are going to be the new "mutants" of the MCU and it would make sense because they are not as big as the Xmen and pretty much a mystery and could kind of be changed at will. Plus with them pushing their cosmic characters.............him moving heaven and earth...........it does sound more and more closer to something not of this Earth.

Any chance at all that if "The Clairvoyant" isn't another made up character that he is Samuel Sterns?

Inhuman.....

Holy ****.
Clark's just ****ing with us now.
But if the tease is what he's implying.....holy ****.
Coulson's an Inhuman.

If they're tied to HYDRA and Ultron, which I strongly suspect they are, then their ultimate goal might be something a *lot* darker....genocide. I suspect Von Strucker will take on Magneto's crusade against humanity in the MCU and attempt to wipe out those pesky non-superhumans who aren't worthy of the emerging "master race" of gifteds.

Any chance at all that if "The Clairvoyant" isn't another made up character that he is Samuel Sterns?

My money's still on my boy, the AI Arnim Zola, being the glue that holds all this HYDRA villainy together.

Clark Gregg's tweets are more entertaining and insightful than the show itself*

*Relax, don't take it so seriously.
