Yeah, I don't think he's being mind controlled, I think he's just given up trying to fight it.

Yeah, I don't think he's being mind controlled, I think he's just given up trying to fight it.

Agreed. I'm sure he's aware of the power they have over him and that they could, as we've seen before, kill him at any given moment. You can't really fight against that. He's just trying to do what they say so that he can get back to his son.

I liked the oldschool espionage scenario on the train this week and the storytelling structure worked well. I am also curious as to who ordered Quinn to shoot Skye. My only gripe was Skye and Fitz going in without back up, given neither are top level field agents.

May was badass as usual! :D

The Deathlok leg was cool but isn't he supposed to have a face plate as well?

He sure is.
The leading theory around here is that for character development reasons they'll gradually transform him piece by piece as the season goes along.

I hope they're right because right now all he'd need is an eyepatch and he'd look more like a space pirate than Deathlok.

As for him not "being all that to begin with" he sure was a hell of a lot more than the bore we have now.

Groot, I'd think you'd be happy that a character so obscure as Deathlok that you love is being adapted at all. Try to not make it a bad situation my man. Peterson has been great in his appearances thus far, be happy they've done such a great job making Peterson (now Deathlok) so interesting. And he's certainly going to have some more development, be that personally or in his appearance. Looks shouldn't be your biggest concern, they've brought this obscure character to life, and have done an amazing job of it IMO, his look should be the least of your worries honestly lol.

True, Ghost Rider looked terrific in both films but everything else was horrible.
But as it is now although Peterson has been terrific it isn't like I'm getting a great adaptation of Michael Collins. Obviously enough elements have been carried over to keep my interest but I wont count myself lucky until they get a bit closer to paying fanboy dividents with something that's more than Deathlok just in name.

I rather faithful adaptations then just anything. I could have lived without either Fantastic Four movie, I could have survived never seeing Silver Surfer on the big screen, I could endure not having seen Ghost Rider raise hell or Man-Thing strike fear in the hearts of men.

There is plenty of great comic character adaptations so I need not concern myself on crappy ones or lackluster timid ones. So thus far this Deathlok fan isn't feeling lucky.

Yeah, I understand the people who want to see perfect comic page to screen adaptations, but I don't feel the same way. I'm not a comic reader so what I see on screen is what I know, so if I've enjoyed what they give for that characters adaptation then I'm happy. But I can respect those that want the comic to screen adaptation as close as possible, although in my time here I've noticed that those with those mindset, unable to embrace the change/adaptation are rarely happy no matter the outcome.

I'm also not a comic reader....unless the Sunday Funnies count.

Yeah I had no interest in anything in this culture until IM1 and the promised this whole cinematic universe of solo films joining into one major film and all going on at the same time. Then they got me hook line and sinker.

So I sometimes don't see eye to eye with the way a lot of the people view these films because to me, they're just movies, but to many it means a lot more than that.

But I can handle change.
I thoroughly enjoyed the MCU version of Abomination.
I thought the little we saw of the Vanko/Whiplash was great.
Kurse looked better to me in the movie than in the comics.

I'm not meaning to say I want a perfect Deathlok, but I want a Deathlok in more than just name.
I fully realize I won't get an accurate adaptation because we're already past that point, but at least give him the semblance of Deathlok.

Marvel is usually good at realizing that respecting the looks is important, these characters were born of a visual medium and part of the reason they worked was because of how they looked.

He needs his damned faceplate in the least because as cool as the metal leg is it's pretty underwhelming.

 Same story here. I picked up Iron Man from redbox one day, and BOOM! And after Avengers, I've even started reading comics.

I can't remember if I saw Iron Man in theaters or later on DvD, I know I was with my cousin because we both experienced the same thing like "whoa, this is going to be something really cool!" I'm leaning more towards DvD since I don't think a superhero movie would have made me want to go see it initially lol, boy how that notion has changed!

I've tried reading some comic stories, like crossover events and the solo books that accompany them via some torrents in the past, but I just get nothing out of them haha. So I'll stick with the life action/animated stuff. :)

What this show needs is some more visually interesting characters. Deathlok is a great start. Can't wait to see him fully decked out.

i grew up reading comic books (even though i havent bought one for f~ 15 years); so its was very exciting to see these characters on the big screen.. i saw ironman, but didnt know about the fury cameo... on my quest to find that online, i come across all these comic book news websites, where i learned sadly that different characters were at different studios, and that marvel were attempting something unprecedented to make a comic book movie universe.. :woot:...i was completely invested in the MCU from that point on...

I think he'll have the face plate, looking at the scarring on his face in this last episode, I could see exactly where it would fit

But also, don't forget that there've been numerous deathloks. Even if we don't get exactly what you want right now, there's always the possibility to see Michael Collins or one of the others, and to have him look very accurate to the comics.

I really don't care much for accuracy, as much as I prefer entertainment.

I think it's also important to remember that, even in the comics community there's comics people do and don't like. Not everyone reads and likes every comic in the marvel universe. The more movies/shows we get out of the MCU, that same logic is going to follow... not everyone is going to like everything. And that's perfectly ok

Late in posting, but, I liked the last episode of AOS. It was brutal and finally started to delivering on some of the threads that were spun earlier. I'd give it two thumbs, way up.

Re:to people jumping on superheroes post IM.

Hahaha. And here I thought I was a bandwagoner for jumping on superheroes after Spider-Man,X-Men, Batman cartoons in the 90s.

I have read a few comics though that interested me, Astonishing X-Men, Runaways, Sin City, old Mr. Fix it (Grey) Hulk comics I got from the libary, I've bought all the whedonverse (Fray is the best) comics. And I love looking at comic art online.

When I was a kid in the early 90's, comics was all the rage. I had a friend who used to bring his comics in a laminated binder to show off to people.

Doesn't matter how or when you got into them, fans are fans. I can't stand these goobers who've been reading comics for decades and always look down their noses at people who were pulled in more recently by the cartoons or films.

I wonder how much this VFX cost?:hubba That looked like it could've been a shot out of one of the movies.:word:

It sure was. Skye calling for help was one of the most painful things I've seen in my life. The way they shot the scene, with the shadows covering her wounds, was just terrifying and horrific (felt like something out of a horror film).

:applaud

The problem is when new fans dismiss whatever came before their time, i was pulled in by the movies and have been reading a lot of Marvel's 60s and 70s stuff, and i see many who have been reading only more modern stories and dismiss much of what came before as if it wasn't important.

Yeah I gotta agree. The only problems that arise are when "new" fans become arrogant and its apparent they know nothing about the character. And when one of us "oldies" try to give info or explain they simply don't want to hear it. That's usually when problems arise. Sure some oldies are also condescending but i see more attitude towards the youngins
