Was checking out Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on Rotten Tomatoes and I came across Jonathan Frakes name in the cast section. Is he supposed to guest star on the show at some point or did he have a cameo? Also, for some stupid reason, they have Stan Lee's picture set to the guy playing Hiro from Heroes (I hate that show, so colour me mad). :cmad:

Yeah I gotta agree. The only problems that arise are when "new" fans become arrogant and its apparent they know nothing about the character. And when one of us "oldies" try to give info or explain they simply don't want to hear it. That's usually when problems arise. Sure some oldies are also condescending but i see more attitude towards the youngins

I'm an older fan of comics. Started collecting them when I was 6, way back in 1979. I kept collecting until about 91 or 92. When I went to college in 92 and bought my first car, I bought actions figures of Nightcrawler and Forge to hang on my back window. Total Geek.

I hadn't pick up a comic in years, then my kids were born. The first Saturday in May is free-comics day at the local store, so I make the kids load up. Lately, I've been buying graphic novels so I can play catch-up. I got Alias and Daredevil for Christmas. Pretty good stuff.

The problem is when new fans dismiss whatever came before their time, i was pulled in by the movies and have been reading a lot of Marvel's 60s and 70s stuff, and i see many who have been reading only more modern stories and dismiss much of what came before as if it wasn't important.

That is also quite aggravating, I agree.

Is it that hard to use wikipedia? They have a list of episodes with writer, director, air date, US viewers, and synopsis. ;)

It's nice that they're finally addressing what can happen when untrained people are put into dangerous situations but it really makes Coulson look like a chump.

Coulson's decision-making in the entire episode was faulty. He got his team into a dangerous situation without knowing enough about the players involved and it went downhill from there. The Cybertek* people are obviously many steps ahead of Coulson in terms of planning and the intelligence they have on his team. They have even stolen the team's tech and improved it. The "night-night" gun is something that FitzSimmons created, which means that Cybertek has somehow compromised Coulson's operation. Quinn said they have been watching Coulson's people, so it's fair to assume that they've bugged that plane.

Sending untrained people out into the field was a (continuing) mistake on Coulson's part, but there are a lot more potential problems facing him.

*"Cybertek" seems to have supplanted "Centipede" as the name of the evil organization the team is fighting. That makes sense and sounds better. In Repairs we saw some of the research that Roxxon is doing into portals to other realms. Cybertek's shady scientific endeavors seem to be part and parcel with that.

:funny:

But I get that it causes unconsciousness + paralysis -- so do anesthetics. They say you shouldn't try to move an injured person, right? I know it's maybe not the best idea IRL, but it just felt like something that would fly on a primetime superpower TV show.

Anyway, I still think that the n2 gun will end up being the key to unlocking Skye's power. If she has one; the vague "powers or something" line sounded like a classic misdirect.

Some anesthetics used in surgery do cause paralysis, but they must be used in conjunction with a ventilator to prevent death by suffocation. Just preventing an injured person from moving isn't going to help them anyway unless there is damage to the spinal column. What was really needed was stabilization and immediate surgery. Putting her in a hyperbaric chamber and lowering her temperature without operating to correct the damage would probably only work on a scifi TV show.

Honestly, I thought this episode really served as an answer to all of the folks who've been complaining that Skye is incompetent and unqualified. She really handled herself well in this episode. Things only went off the rails for her when she came across Mike, and honestly it doesn't seem super unreasonable to me that such a thing rattled her.

Running into that mansion without backup was an incredibly stupid thing to do. Skye doesn't have the training for that sort of situation so she made a rookie mistake. Someone in that heavily guarded house was bound to spot and catch her, even if the Clairvoyant hadn't alerted Quinn (which he might have done). She and Fitz should have sabotaged the vehicles, tried to get a working phone off one of Quinn's mooks and kept the situation under surveillance while waiting for the others to arrive. As noted above, her blundering into that house and getting shot was realistic because half of the team doesn't have the proper training to be in the field.

Her blundering into that house.... the "clairvoyant expecting her".... Let's assume the clairvoyant really can see or predict the future...and knew the team would be on that train all along...then who's to say that certain events on the train itself were set in motion in a specific way so that Skye would end up isolated and alone in that house...ie the whole team was played....

Quinn having his orders to shoot Skye.... they wanted her not dead but dying..the question is why...

Perhaps the answers will be found in "Tahiti".... maybe this was all to force Coulson to go after the tech that resurrected him....tech that for some reason the Clairvoyant's people can't touch on their own?

You're on to something and this is just what I've been speculating. The Clairvoyant (or someone else) wanted Skye shot to get at Coulson. Quinn said as much when he talked about Coulson having her as his "pet project" made him vulnerable. By injuring her they've forced Coulson to break into SHIELD's files to find the technologies used to resurrect him from death. That is exactly what Raina and Po were after in A Magical Place. Coulson did not know how he was brought back, however, so they had to injure his pet to make him go find the answer so they can get control of whatever means was used.

Although the Clairvoyant could not reach into Coulson's mind during and after his "dead" phase, I am guessing that he can extract information from periods after that. He can also get info from the other members of the team if need be. He has already gotten the specs for the night-night gun and the info on the dendrotoxin, as well as other things. Perhaps he means to get the secret to resurrecting humans in the same way.

If I'm not mistaken, Cybertek was essentially the "subcontractor" for "Project Dethlok" to create the leg. "Project Centipede" (not specifically an organization) was the project to create an Extremis-based SSS. I believe this particular project got more-or-less taken out by SHIELD operatives working under Hand, during episodes 10-11. The Clairvoyant and Raina are working for an as-yet-unnamed organization (*cough*HYDRA*cough*AIM) that is running these various projects. At least this is how I see it.

I really like this idea.

It's awfully nice and friendly of the Clairvoyant to have his operatives use non-lethal force. :)

Clever little noob!
I like your theory.
Welcome to the forum.

You're right.
Before the episode aired I had theorized maybe Cybertek/Roxxon were the true face of Centipede all along, but it was clear in the episode they were just paid for services rendered and the hired goons were just part of their delivery service to Centipede.

Yeah, agreed that Quinn was just trying to force Coulson to look for the resurrection hoodoo to use on Skye. If Quinn had actually wanted to/been ordered to kill Skye, he would've gone quick and dirty boom-headshot, not left her gutshot and bleeding out on the floor.

You hated Heroes? I'm sorry.

Well...I only mean that if you hated the first season. The 2nd was blah and the 3rd was an utter travesty. The 4th was okay...but it was hard to wash the horrible taste out of my mouth that season 3 left...

The first was it's best season. I left the show with three episodes left in season 3.

He sure is.
The leading theory around here is that for character development reasons they'll gradually transform him piece by piece as the season goes along.

I hope they're right because right now all he'd need is an eyepatch and he'd look more like a space pirate than Deathlok.

As for him not "being all that to begin with" he sure was a hell of a lot more than the bore we have now.

I think building him up gradually is probably what they are doing, especially given that big scar on his face seems ripe for having a plate over it.

Doesn't matter how or when you got into them, fans are fans. I can't stand these goobers who've been reading comics for decades and always look down their noses at people who were pulled in more recently by the cartoons or films.

I agree to a degree, but to me when you come in new to something that has a long history, respecting that history is important. Whenever I've became a fan of something I've made the effort to read up on what has come before to have a better understanding of it's mythology and characters.

Yeah that is also an issue as I acknowledged in my last post.

Did they state when specifically we will find out who the clairvoyant is? Like a specific episode?
