Superman Returns AICN interview with Singer

Singer is such an egomaniac. He can't even accept the fact that he gave us a horrible story, and he's trying to put the blame on Superman's lack of success on the sequel of POTC 2.

Singer seriously needs psychiatric help. He needs medication to deal with what is fast becoming an out of control emotional disorder with his egomania. A person in that condition needs to be institutionalized before he hurts himself more or someone else.

Um, yeah. HE is the one that needs help.

He like me is upset because we got a TERRIBLE movie with many flaws and boring as hell.

Exactly!

Before this movie came out, there were a small group of us who foresaw this, but we were told that Singer was absolute and could do no wrong.

Well, Singer was absolute all right. An absolute tool who jacked up Superman and screwed the fans with his fetish film which was a rehash based on the Donner movie.

Now that the movie is failing miserably compared to what it should be doing, this is a bit of vidication to those of us who knew Singer would screw the franchise. He's just not the right man for the job. He and his ego excluded most sources of Superman material out there, in lieu of just using the Donner film. Singer is a great con artist. He bamboozled, hoodwinked, and led astray WB into thinking he could deliver a great Superman film, and what he delivered was a rehash of the original movie.

Shame on you Singer, and shame on you for playing the role of the pied piper, and leading everyone astray into thinking that you actually understood Superman. Shame on you for also using your whack pack of writing fools and flunkies Harris & Daugherty, instead of writers with any talent.

The funny thing is, you people have no middle ground whatsoever, just because you didn´t like the movie, you need to either turn the guy into Forrest Gump or some kind of evil monster... Grow up a little, will ya... No, Singer´s not perfect - I never said he was - but he´s a filmmaker with a very respected career, who can make mistakes, like anyone, but that for many many movie fans is a talented and crafty director.

I agree with u ultimate fan, but unlike the Batman franchises 8 years of devleopment hell the Superman franchise has had 20 years of it, and its quite sad if you know the whole story, Superman fans were trortued for 20 years awaiting to see their beloeved character come to live on the BIG SCREEN again....

when they finanlly found out this was going to be the movie that was going to be made, it was a hppy day for Superman fans, finally! we all sighed....as we learned a talented director, writers and crew was coming on....and a great story of Superman Returning to a world who didnt need him.....sounded epic as hell

we than got the comic coon footage that blew everryone away and the movie was going to be a vague sequel.....

Fact: WB greenlited the BB's sequel...only 5 days ago.

actually, they announced the sequel was greenlight 5 months ago. they annopunced the title 5 days ago.

that would be two months after its release then. Not that long.pretty much as its theatrical run finished

they are hardly likely to produce a report in which they express dis-satisfaction with their big summer tentpole,whilst its still in the theatres, are they?.

Fact: Singer (the director), Lee (one of the producers), told us about the sequel in the WB panel. They gave us even a vague release date: 2009.

Singer and the producer dont decide that there will be one. Singer also said, on the same panel, that doing a deal was a "a bit iffy"

Fact: SR is going to cross the BB's ww gross.

if it underperforms in japan and last couple of markets as badly as it did in the UK......

Fact: There are very good chances for SR to cross the 400m ww (Only the 2 spidermans and the 2 x-mens did it)..

I wasn´t referring to everyone criticizing the movie, I was referring to those who feel the need to portray Singer as some sort of supervillain or a bumbling idiot with an IQ of 75 just because they didn´t like the movie.

I am not supposed to show my fear DB so I wouldn't call myself scared, but kind of shocked if this is nothing more than a rumor.

Zod was fantastic in Superman 2 and could have fit in the storyline for Returns, but now I don't know where he would fit in?

I agree Showtime....I am going to consider the Zod stuff a rumor since no sequel has been greenlighted yet.
