ALIEN going to be remade?

NO NO NO

We don't need Ripley any more. We don't need a ****ing remake. Let's advance the story from Aliens, find out about their origin, or attack their homeworld or something.

NO! It's so much easier to do a low budget remake with bad CG and Keanu Reeves! :o

At least we're getting something original added to the story with the Colonial Marines video game.

Assuming it ever comes out... Which is had friggin' better! It's the only thing that could be awesome enough to counteract Fox's epic fail. :cmad:

What are the odds? I just watched Alien last night and now I find this thread at the top of the page. This film certainly needs no remake/reboot/re-imagining or whatever they want to call it these days.

I knew this was going to happen...

Burton's Batman was still to fresh in everyone's mind (and in color for god's sake) to do a remake. But WB wanted to cash in on the comicbook film craze, with one of their biggest properties...WB opened Pandora's Box.

Now after seeing the success WB (and now Paramount with ST) has had with TDK, every studio and their mother is going to start rebooting or retconning popular franchises from the near past in an attempt to make them profitable.

Monkey see, monkey do.

I can already smell that Godzilla reboot a mile away.

most of us saw this reboot/remake craze coming once Casino Royale was successful.....and i honestly have no problem with reboots/remakes as long as they're quality redoes ala BB, CR, and ST-09. reboots like Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li and Punisher: War Zone are a different story.

The difference is that this is an Alien prequel but the word 'reboot' is being tossed around. What the heck does 'reboot' mean anymore? Does it no longer have meaning? It's now just a buzzword.

Or a CGI Keanu Reeves which would be more realistic than a live action Keanu Reeves ............or they could really not care and just cast Paul walker

This is the worst idea since Greedo shooting first...

I don't want to know why/what they are I just want to know that the aliens are scary and unpredictable against the confident, military hungry minds of man.

Don't redue/explain before the practically perfect Sci Fi movie...just don't.

Freshest thing in everyone's minds was the craptastic Batman and Robin since that was the last Batman film to come out before they started over with BB. Starting over was necessary and one of the best things they could have done.

Here's a towel to wipe your tears.

To remake Alien is a bad idea because it's an actual classic. It wasn't based off some decades old comic that over time should use a change up every now and again when returning to film. If this goes forward I hope it's going to be some lame kind of prequel rather than a full blown remake.

If it's a "reboot" in the style of Predators and Superman Returns then I'm all for it.

But if it's an actual reboot (like the Incredible Hulk, Casino Royale, and Batman Begins) or remake (like Halloween and Dawn of the Dead) than bah! Alien doesn't need a reboot even with some rather horrid movies behind it. It's not like Batman which needed it because of Batman & Robin and it's not like James Bond which had 20 films under its belt. Just accept the rather mediocre films and move on.

Shia Labeouf: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no!

Again just NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

I don't need to see what happened before the first film. That's what makes them so terrifying. You have no idea how or why that ship got there, how that alien in the jockstrap got there, etc. That mystery will be taken away.

Even a reboot will feel like a remake.

Sigh...

I guess we'd better prepare for "Alien: Queen and Country".

A reboot is starting to become a remake really. They're just using different words.

Fox you have gone too far. You can butcher Wolverine, you can butcher Deadpool and get away with it, but you cannot **** on Ridely Scott!

If it's an adaptation of a pre-existing non-film franchise and you're starting over, it's a reboot. If it's a franchise that began on film and you're starting over, then it's a remake. Simple.

What's wrong with Hollywood?!

There is so much unmined territory in the franchise.
Where did the Aliens come from?
Were they engineered?
Who was the space jockey?

There is so much to explore that a good sequel or prequel could tackle without just scratching it all and starting over. In fact, the Alien vs Predator franchise is a prequel in a sense. I still think that with the right budget and talent behind it, that franchise could accomplish all of those things and revitalize itself.

That's the way it SHOULD stay. We know nothing about them. That's one of the few things we have left.

The closer we get to this new movie becoming a reality, the more it weakens the creature and mythos.

Damn, another classic being remade?! What the hell? *sigh* well, I guess we'll just have to wait and see how this turns out.

if it was a prequel, then okay, but a remake? no.

"Alien" + David Giler + Some Hack who's not Ridley Scott or James Cameron or David Fincher = :down

Fixed

I don't see why we need a remake. They could just do a story about another character encountering the xenomorphs. Which is what the new Predator sounds like.

LEAVE RIPLEY ALONE! Aliens was the end of her story IMO.
