Well, I guess I'm glad they're not doing AVP3. Never liked Predator...
The idea of a remake for Alien if terrible.....just terrible.
Fox and Tom Rothman at it again with moves that reek of desperation.
On the surface, this news makes me feel sick.
However, only a month or so ago there was news that Ridley Scott was toying with the idea of creating a new Alien film. Here's the story-chunk from /Film...
If he was on board, I'd actually be quite happy with a new Alien film, however it fits into the Alien story. It can't be worst than Alien 3 or Resurrection, can it? I just pray that talks with Ridley or rumors of his involvement won't fall through or turn out to be rumor, because we'd probably end up with a shaky-cam, CGI, PG-13, suspense-sparse Alien film.
It's not a remake.
Honestly, I don't get the complaints. Ridley Scott has been talking about doing a movie about the space jockey for years. If Fox just hired some random director to make this movie I would understand the concern but I trust Ridley and Tony. As long as they are involved with this film then I'm more than happy with this news.
Sequel or preqel, revisting the Alien franchise is a dumb idea to me. They aren't going to be able to top Aliens anyway so whats the point?
I bet this prequel does as well as Terminator Salvation is doing.
I really don't see how they can make a prequel story for this movie without ****ting all over the mythos and ruining all of the mystery for us.
Unless WY had visited LV-426 prior to the events in Alien. Perhaps a lost expedition.
How about an Alien encounter before the Weyland stuff. Survivor is sent to a mental hospital, because everyone thinks (he/shes) crazy. Weyland-Yutaini's intrest sparks....ande there ya go. Perfect prequel.
Hmm, I agree with Celtic. Don't touch that space jockey. Do another story.
I keep coming to a Dead Space type of story but it only leads back to the first film. I can't think of any good ideas.
OK, if they're doing a movie around the Space Jockeys, that's cool. I've always wanted to see more of the origins if the Xenomorph. However, if it ends up being a remake if Alien, I will personally go to Wal-Mart, buy a shotgun and go all off on Hollywood and then stop watching movies altogether.
Leave my awesome flicks alone!!!!!
