Sega Alien: Isolation

And even overlooking facility schematics.
Bloody hell! Are Nintendo doing stuff like this on other games? I never seem to hear about innovations on the tablet controller and given how it seems to be quite central to their plans, they should be spreading the word all over the place on things it does like this (and it better be doing stuff like this). Otherwise the wii U could have launched at a much lower price.

I think Deus Ex on the Wii U lets you call up the map, mark way points, draw routes so you never forget your way.

Cool, would like to try that. Just weird that I can't remember reading a single thing about great applications of the tablet controller despite checking gaming news regularly. What happened to Nintendo's marketing department?

I guess that's probably because you rarely get any good 3rd party games anymore that take advantage of the Wii U, trying to enhance the gaming experience in neat ways. All you have are first party titles and shovelware I guess, with the usual touch screen controls or inventory management.

The publishers know they can put out the best port possible on the Wii U hardware and it still won't sell well. Ubisoft tried to support it more than any of the other big names with ZombiU and Assassin's Creed IV, both of which used the Gamepad in neat ways. ZombiU was one of the system's best selling launch titles yet still wasn't profitable for Ubi, and they recently admitted around 1% of Black Flag's total sales came from the Wii U. The real issue is, Iwata wanted Nintendo to compete with the PS3 and 360 figuring that new gen sales would be sluggish at first, only to find out that after seven years of the same consoles "better graphics" was about as much as most potential customers wanted.

I don't see it improving. It's performing worse than the GameCube, and Sony and Microsoft are pushing hard for tablet compatibility. People can't blame Sega for concluding that Isolation would fail to find an audience on the Wii U when Wii U owners are even starting to ignore Nintendo's first party output.

Alien Isolation on PS4: 5 Things You NEED To Know

You know, I don't mind them using Ripley's daughter anymore. I guess it makes sense, with Weyland-Yutani being a shady company, so Burke telling Ripley that her daughter lived a peaceful life could have been a lie. And Amanda would have probably wanted to find out what happened to her mother all these years ago.

What Gearbox did wasn't illegal. Publishers give checks to keep the developers on track to release. How said monies are spent doesn't matter so long as the release date's met. It's Sega's fault for not cancelling it when they missed their date the first time. That was a big sign they weren't serious enough. Allowing Gearbox to salvage Colonial Marines led them to outsource it almost entirely to TimeGate, Demiurge, and Nerve, which was the twist of the knife for that game.

Yeah, but they showed false footage to the public. I've never seen a game do that. You might have the occasional CGI trailer that gives false impressions, but they outright showed gameplay, in-game gameplay of a game that we never got. That's lying about your product.

That doesn't sit right with me. If I'm paying you money to make something for me and then I find out that you're using that money to make something else and end up turning a complete crap game in. Yeah I'm going to sue the pants off of you.

The game was running like that, at one point in its development. But its like only showing you a small corner of a large, unfinished painting. They were able to build a very narrow focused game to show off to the public, but when they started adding in other elements on top of that, they knew their initial vision and build would be compromised. It's shady as f**k either way, but not illegal, which is why they haven't, nor will be sued over that issue.

Which is obviously not what happened, or Sega would of done something about it. Or at least they couldnt find the evidence GB was doing that.

Yep, full blown excitement mode.

Haha i wanna get there man, but its an Alien based video game. Just gonna wait and see.

Its been mentioned, but i wonder what else we will be doing in this game? I cant see running from point a to b, while hiding from an alien to be that fun over the course of 8-10 hrs.

I think it will be more survival horror then what has been shown. Even some of the people playing said you got some tools to create certain things. I could see them expanding that with puzzles/survival type stuff intertwined with the run. But I don't think it's just blind running from point A to B. It's trying to escape the Alien with out alerting it, so kinda stealth oriented in that aspect.

Any of you ever play R.L.H (Run Like Hell)? I remember being extremely PUMPED for that game and while I did enjoy it..I was a bit let down by it. I'm starting to get a RLH (only better) feeling from this.

That's a good thing. RLH could have been great...it ended up being simply "ok" but if they keep this thing like it sounds and it could be as original as RLH tried to be.

Alien: Isolation Pre-Order Shows Up for Steam, 25% Off at GMG

Remember when back in October news broke that 20th Century Fox trademarked Alien: Isolation? Well, we got another glimpse of the title with yesterday’s announcement by Sega and developer The Creative Assembly at CES 2014. The survival horror action game is slotted to be released some time in late 2014 on all major platforms except for the Wii U. (Given how the last Alien-based game turned out, fans of the franchise are right to be a bit nervous.)

With yesterday’s announcement, the game’s details and description have now shown up on the Steam Store, although without pricing info or the ability to pre-order. Not wanting to miss out on announcement hype, UK-based retailer GMG is already taking pre-orders for Alien: Isolation - what’s more, they’re throwing in a 25% off coupon incentive to earn your pre-order dollars. This will drop the price from the $49.99 MSRP to only $37.50. The coupon code will work until January 10th at 8AM Pacific.

So, how many do you think will forget how bad they have been hurt by Colonial Marines? I think the game looks good, but I'll wait till it's out and hear from people that it's actually good.

Yea Im gonna do the same. Although it doesnt really have anything to do with CM. Its a licensed IP, in the Alien(s) franchise, thats what has me wary.

Hah but all this Alien talks has me wanting to play an Aliens game. I still have AvP but for some weird ass reason i kinda wanna play CM. Maybe ill go buy a used copy from Gamestop, then return it for a full refund once iv satisfied my urge to Pulse Rifle the crap outta stuff.

I have no problem with putting a fiver down on it. If Adam Sessler likes it...Nine times out of ten I will too. He tends to be my go to review guy.

I've been tempted but have not yet caved. It's funny how much crap you'll put up with sometimes when you really want a specific experience.

I didn't even want to get it when Amazon had that deal, where they basically pay you to buy it.

LOL you can get a new copy of CM 4 bucks cheaper than used if you stick to Amazons third party sellers.

I've been waiting for an Alien like this for quite a while. One that hearkens back to the original film and is essentially survival horror. The Aliens action formula has been done to death.

The latter. Everyone who worked on it and broke the non-disclosure agreement did so anonymously. They didn't have enough to escalate it further.

Says it all, really. Not sure if the Redditor went further with this.

I dunno, there's room for a co-op Left 4 Dead style Aliens game, I think. But then again I haven't played any Aliens games so it's still pretty fresh to me.

I wonder if this kind of game would be possible with a co-op partner. I guess you'd basically have to do it like Alien 3.

Rebellion's AVP3 was like that, and Colonial Marine's multiplayer straight up lifted LFD2's Horde mode.
