Sega Alien: Isolation

Maybe they feel it is the best in the series. Each Dead Space game is different in it's own way also.

I'm of this opinion as well. I found the first to be more of a science/horror mystery with shooty bits. The third was far more vast and wide open. The second was more cramped with more atmosphere than the third. It was more like an Aliens game as they had the monsters just coming from everywhere at any time.

Yea i got ya because, from what we have seen, albeit the little we have seen, it doesnt look like DS2 at all. DS is an action title with lots of horror elements. If the team at CA is going for a DS2 vibe, i think its clear they haven't even played DS2. Now if they just want it to be as 'good' as DS2 then sure, that makes sense. Who wouldn't?

I find it funny they even mention that though, i mean the DS series is pretty much Alien meets John Carpenters The Thing.

That was actually my initial issue with the orig DS game. As i was playing it, i just couldnt get over this overwhelming sense of Deja Vu.

Well so far both games are set on a space station. Also since the game appears to have space suits, one can imagine that there will be possibly no oxygen and zero G parts of the game. I still don't think the game will be DS with Aliens. Instead of tons of Necromorphs, there is only going to be 1 Alien. But since this game is set on a station instead of a planet or ship. I can make that connection to DS2.

Haha will sure it'll have aliens and a space station like DS did, DS ripped that stuff squarely from Alien.

That's where the similarities end tho. DS is an action title, this game seems to be going for more of a survival feel.

Still, no denying that DS was an amazing game. And delivered more than any Alien game has so far.

Oh no doubt. Alien and The Thing are some of my fav horror titles of all time and DS pretty much combined the two. I LOVE the DS series. Was actually playing some co op DS3 last night

Yeah you're right it pretty combined those 2 horror titles (2 of my favorites as well). I haven't played DS in so long. Think I might have to replay.

As somebody who has both the DS2 and DS3 collector editions and every achievement in the first 2 games. I will be very ticked if DS4 never happens. If they make DS4 more horror and less action that DS3 was then the sales would return, and I enjoyed DS3. But fans blame the unimpressive sales on the action focused approach.

It's got to be tough making an Alien horror game. If you're making a serious horror game, you wouldn't want to show off your monster too much, or ideally not at all. But working with a license like Alien where pretty much everyone on the planet knows what a xenomorph looks like, there's no reason not to. Making such a thing seem frightening after so much exposure is definitely going to be a challenge for them. At this point it would the same as trying to make a mummy seem scary again. I wish them luck though.

That Alien model looks amazing. Love the textures.

When the news of Alien: Isolation’s protagonist broke, there was one question on gamer's lips: How is Amanda Ripley involved? Since we know nothing about her, it seems easy to explore that character. There was a feeling that Ripley’s daughter was untouchable. Some people asked the question, "Why wouldn't have Weyland-Yutani informed Ripley about her daughter's adventures when she awoke?"

The answer to that is simple and obvious: Why would they? The company has proven, if nothing else, to be secretive and Burke wasn’t the most forthcoming person anyway. Still the question remains: How does Amanda Ripley end up in space and with an alien? Well, Creative Assembly, developers of Alien: Isolation finally shed some light on just how that happened.

Speaking with Kitguru, Alien: Isolation community manager, Nee N broke it down:

"The game is set fifteen years after the events of Alien, and Amanda has grown up, always wondering what has happened to her mother. She's currently working for Weyland-Yutani and is approached by an employee of the company, Samuels, to say that they‘ve found the black box flight recorder, ejected from the Nostromo in the moments before its destruction."

Nee stated: "It's on a station called Sevastopol and Samuels offers Amanda the chance to go with them and to unlock the secret of what happened to her mother."

For those curious about cannon, Fox was involved in the game, even providing unreleased material to aid in the design of the station and vehicles. Alien: Isolation is due out late this year.

Now this is what I expected PS4/X1 games to look like.

I hope this isn't even half the failure that Colonel Marines was.

Eh, those this game literally has nothing at all to do with Colonel Marines. Gearbox is no where near this.

This looks mighty cool. Finally, the Alien being...SCARY. Wow! Who wuda thunk it!?!?!

This looks pretty good, I know it'll take a hit just because it's released fairly soon after CM but I hope it does well. I'm very interested in seeing how it plays as it's gotten my interest.

I didn't play the newest DS game, but DS and DS2 are pretty focused on the survival aspects, too. You tend to have bursts of actions, sometimes intensely, but I never thought of them as "action games" really.

Really? DS2 is almost pure action.. It's Aliens to DS1's Alien. DS3, IMHO.. Has nothing to do with survival.

Hm, I dunno, I may be mistaken I guess. It's been awhile, but I don't remember it being anything close to "pure action". It had more action than the first, but I thought overall it still had a fairly slow pace to it.

The first few levels are pretty fast-paced but after that it largely slows down into a more measured groove.

Eh both DS games had you shooting something in just about EVERY hallway. DS2 I felt handled that aspect better(the return to the ishimura for example). But they deff weren't survival titles. There was no resource management as you could buy whatever u needed and the enemies dropped ammo and the only way past enemies was to blow them up. There weren't any survival elements other than, don't die. Compared to the orig RE and SH games, DS is an all out action title.
