Hollywood needs more GOOD crossover films

agreed
i loved Freddy Vs Jason -- thats how to do it right. take the history of both characters and combine them w/out f**king up what came before or contradicting it or anything.

I just want them to completely start over, and do something different. Perhaps a remake or reintroduction of Predator. Im not much of an Alien fan being as Ive only seen the first one.

The second Alien movie is definately the best in the series. This is coming from a die hard Predator fan.

sorry--
i reacted unfavorably there, no remake. reintroduce him? sure. but do it in a flick called PREDATOR 3 or PREDATOR: PUT SUBTITLE HERE.

It would have been good had it been done like the games--set in Colonial Marines era, with the USCM weapons available to the humans that (desperately) need it. Plus, we wouldn't have any chronology problems.

And yeah, see Aliens as soon as possible, Arya.
I'll definately look into it. Thanks to all for the recommendation.

once you do see it though stay as far away as possible from the other 2

i dig ALIEN3... not so much A:R...

I dig how Alien 3 looks, and the climax is good, but that's definitely where they started to dumb everything down. Thanks a lot, Sigourney Weaver. :cmad:

Oh, by the way, Arya, be sure to watch the Director's Cut version of Aliens, as it has a crucial bit of character history that helps the film enormously. Also, some added action...and in general, just added awesomeness.

I disagree. I think Alien and Aliens are tied. Both very different movies, but same story. Alien was the most tense horrifying film that made you feel, trapped alone, in an alien world. It just felt so empty and alone. Scott did the most amazing job bringing that feeling, slowly building up.

And Aliens was one of the greatest action movies, still with some of the feeling of Alien still intact.

I just felt both the films were equally ground breaking. Alien, just still makes me have nightmares lol.

Alien 3 was not as bad as some thought it was. Though Alien and Aliens were freaking 11/10 movies. Alien 3 was at best a 7/10 to me. Horrible how the producers got a hold of it and messed a lot of it up. But Fincher held it up pretty well. I think the special edition made it even a little better. But yea not that great of a film.

Alien Resurrection was just plain awful. Horrible acting, just odd, Jean sure brought an odd feeling to AR. Horrible story, worst way to try and bring Ripley back, the Newborn was terrible, Ryder was terrible. And it was just an action adventure through a giant ship. Special effects were pretty bad too.

But Alien and Aliens, were just amazing, the best universe ever made, next to Bats, and Terminator ;)

But I would love to see more of these, but I hope to God Fox goes bankrupt and some one else buys up the franchise. Because it seems Fox does not give a damn about quality anymore. I would love to see the continuation of Alien, but handle it with care such as Bond/Batman were. But Fox seems incapable of that.

Man I'm going to watch Alien and Aliens tonight on my 61 inch DLP LED lit, tonight! Crank up the new sound system. Too bad they are not on Blu-Ray yet. That would be even better.

and freaking agreed :)

Too bad neither franchise got a good sequel after Aliens.

Oh, I dunno about that.

If there was another movie that featured more badass Colonial Marines vs Xenomorphs scuffles; that also factored a few Predators into the mix too;I know I'd watch it.

I'm sure I'm not the only one.

It's not a hard formula to comprehend, but for some reason the dumbasses at Fox couldn't.

I like Alien one just as much. It is my favorite Horror movie to date.

Aliens is an action film with a good cast, outside Bill Paxton's character, I loved the film but in a different way than Alien.

It's got a bold beginning and end, that's for sure. No holds barred in that respect.

Does anyone think a colonial marine vs Predator movie with no xenomorphs would be cool?

A Predator vs Colonial Marines flick might be cool but it would be hard to do without being an Aliens ripoff. The comparisons would be hard to not make.

I feel Alien 3 gets a bad rap. True, its very different from the previous films, but not in a bad way. I like that the film makers took a very risky chance and made it a "hopeless" movie. Personally, I like that so many things were going wrong for Ripley in part 3.
Its kinda refreshing for me to have a movie that doesnt have some random twist in the end that helps the hero overcome the odds. You might say, in Alien 3, the aliens won. People like it when the good guy wins out and the monster is destroyed. Alien 3 didnt go that way.
Aliens is a dark franchise and it ended (or should have ended) on a similar dark note.

Granted, I didnt always feel this way about the movie. It got better for me as I got older. Dont get me started on Alien: Resurrection.

Alien 3 was a solid movie. It went back to suspense roots of the first. The sequence where they're trying to lure the beast into the furnace is just brilliant. Charles Dutton rocked (get it?) so hard in that film.

AVP should have been adapted from the original Darkhorse comic. Instead they just pilfered a few cool details and crapped out an effin horrible story.

Brad Pitt likes Alien 3.

Not that Pitt is opposed to a little silliness. After all, he discovered Fincher after a drunken night in Tijuana.

The actor says he felt like seeing a movie "after a night of utter debauchery" in Mexico in 1992. He settled on "Alien 3," Fincher's feature-film debut. The movie's malevolent tone and (spoiler alert) stunner conclusion -- the young director killed off Sigourney Weaver's character, Ripley -- earned the movie abhorrent reviews. It grossed $53 million, the worst in the franchise.

Pitt loved it.

"I remember walking out of the theater thinking, 'OK, that was not what I expected,' " Pitt says. "That wasn't a Hollywood ending. It really stuck with me."

"Maybe it was the hangover," Fincher jokes.

While I feel AvP:R is leaps and bounds better than the original AvP, its not even in Alien's league. There are good and bad aspects:
Good:
1. Grittier feel than the original, ie, the kid gets face hugged.
2. Fight scenes were more intense. There was very little tension in the first movie. I hated that the Predator would fire off shoulder cannon blast after blast and the damn aliens hung on the walls and did nothing.
3. No human/Predator team up.
4. Cursing and blood were allowed in AvP: R.
5. One alien did not take out two Predators in the span of five minutes in AvP: R.
6. The ending set up Alien nicely. I actually didnt mind that it took place in the modern day.

Bad:
1. Too dark. Couldnt see anything. Then again, Aliens was pretty dark and quick during some of the fight scenes, too. Aliens also recycled footage.
2. Frakin teenagers.
3. No character development.
4. The story was thin, to say the least. Some of it just didnt make sense. In the Director's Cut, the mothership is moving past Saturn and a pod ship heads back to earth. Why? Why would that pod suddenly return to earth? It should have crashed before it met the mothership. The directors clearly added the Saturn scene because they are FX guys and thought it would look cool, ignoring the fact it was pointless.

Not really, all it has to be with colonial marines & in the future. Different plot & character personalities. I think it'd be more similar to Predator 1. Maybe have a sub-plot of a good Predator vs. bad Predator. The bad predator is killing civilians (the reason the marines are sent there) & the good one is sent to eliminate the bad one.

Put this thing in space, get Cameron and Scott on board possibly, get a good story, REAL actors, and we may have a watchable movie.
