TDK is my favorite, but that's for reasons beyond the quality of the movie. Objectively speaking, his best movie I think is still Memento.

Regarding Interstellar, I think it's one of his weaker movies.

LOL "objectively."

Well this came out of nowhere, haha. Hopefully the doc is eventually made available online for the majority of the folks who can't attend these screenings. This seems like a nice "recharge the batteries" kind of project for him. I'm wondering if it's just a very straight forward doc that Nolan simply did because he's a fan of them, or if there's more of an artistic angle to it.

Still hoping the announcement of his next feature is coming soon.

I agree. He had to have been exhausted these past 5 years. Good lord.

Exactly.^

In art, nothing is objective. Even the rules in which one critiques art are entirely subjective.

Too big a word for you?

You meant to say 'subjectively'.

:funny: Which bigtime Hollywood directors even bother with non-feature films now, let alone a short film? You do you, and awesomely, Mr. Nolan sir!

Isn't Cameron pretty big into documentary stuff? Heck, I think he is way more interested in deep sea diving than filmmaking these days.

Glad to see Nolan do something small. Hopefully the short documentary inspires him to go back to his roots. Something more on the scale of The Prestige would be nice to see.

I see you divorced Sawyer and took back your maiden name.

Interstellar is both weak and strong. The screenplay would have benefited from a further few months of work, but there's so much to love in it. It's an original science fiction movie while simultaneously being a remake of 2001; it introduces new high concept plot devices while also being at its core a personal story of the struggle between work and family.

Remake of 2001? I liked both films and i do see some DNA, but on the whole, i feel like both fiilms tried to make completely different things, not to mention the different structure.

I'm hoping Nolan's taking some time with his next script, as his strongest films are usualy the ones he spends the most time scripting. Inception comes to mind, while with The Dark Knight Rises he rushed production a bit more and the film ended up being more problematic.

While i wouldn't mind Nolan doing something smaller, i would like to see him make more "blockbusters", as he has the resources to do whatever he wants right now and too many studios are only releasing sequels and spin-offs.

sad to see Nolan's career tank like this, he really did have great potential as a director

I guess next he'll be co-directing a low-budget suspense thriller with M Night Shyamalan

2001 starts with the beginnings of human evolution, Interstellar starts with the end of human evolution.

We tgen spend time at the moon or NASA, deciding to go on a mission.

2001 then saw a trip to Jupiter with a robot. There is a worm hole there. In interstellar, they crossed the worm hole outside Saturn, with a robot, there is a lot of exploration.

At the end, character in 2001 falls into worm hole and sees the disco light show. Interstellar has Cooper fall into the black hole and he sees the tesseract library.

The Galaxy baby or whatever are the descendants of Cooper and Brand who become five dimensional beings.

i think everytime we talk about Nolan and Interstellar it would be fair to start with ''a Spielberg script written by Nolan's brother rewritten by Nolan ''

if Nolan would have the basic idea for the plot and would start writting Interstellar from scratch it would be IMO a 99% different movie.

It's not like Nolan was contractually obligated to do the film. If he wanted to make a sci-fi film with a script made from scratch, he would've. He already did it once before.

But clearly he wanted to make Interstellar.

What the hell are you talking about? His past 4 films have all been among the 10 highest grossings in their respective years, and have all received great reviews.

Can't he Direct a simple short film? Makes no sense.

I wanna see Nolan do a full blown torrid romance movie. Seems like the hardest thing for him to pull off.
