I dont know about most of you, but a lot of our lives are filled with responsibilities...

Work, bills, families...the whole shebang.

Everyone picks distractions, hobbies, to escape from all of that. When what you have chosen as your escape is then handled poorly by those in charge its disappointing, and with good reason.

Some people sit in a bar complaining about how lousy their favorite team is. Some people spend hours trying to help their American Idol choice. Some people spend time actually caring about comic book movies. Its a natural human reaction to the outside world, so dont pretend that you dont have your little area of endulgence.

agreed! I don't understand why Duke and Scarlett couldn't have had costumes that slightly resembled their origionals. What would've been uncool about brown and green fatigue stlye armor garb? Are the filmmakers trying to tell us that the American army dresses uncool?
Wow, I guess that means this film is being made by terrorists, it's sad too, becuase I love America, dammit...so much it hurts!

Its just funny, because I know thats going to be the defense. And it'll be funny because Stephen Sommers, who directed the ludicrous over the top sequences in Van Helsing, will be emphasizing realism in a movie about action figures.

I'm sorry but I'll take this...

I don't think realism will be a viable defense here. They were dressed like soldiers. How can simply dressing like a soldier not be more realistic than these superhero costumes that Sommers is putting everyone in?!

Way too high-tech, and superhero-e for my liking. These guys are supposed to be soldiers from 2008... not Peacekeepers from an episode of Farscape! Damn. The movie looks like it's going to kill off any sort of realism that the fans have been expecting. The "high-tech" weaponry, and equipment suggests either a story set in the future, or a line like -- "unknown to mankind, technology has been developed which are now being used by an elite force of combatants hell-bent on protecting the world."

Either way, it's everything but impressive, imho.

I like how while everyone else is trying to make superheroes and comic book characters more realistic these guys decided "**** that!" and went in the complete opposite direction.

*Sigh* As I've repeated time and again, the so called 'superhero costumes' are based on Prototype 2020 (from Natick Soldier Center) of the U.S.'s own Future Force Warrior project but simply made to look 'sleeker'. A preview picture can be seen below (spoiler tag added due to the picture's size):

But they aren't! It's been stated that the movie is supposed to take place about a decade into the future. As for how the 'high tech' gear, they're all currently being actively researched for military implementation.

I thought it'd been confirmed, the Joe's wear the black suits for a specific battle, not the entire movie. Why is everyone still acting as if the black suits are it? I'm still much more concerned with the script at this point.
