All New, All Different x New 52 - Part 2

I never really cared much about the Spider-Man thing and never knew about the DC thing until years after it was revealed and explained.

I guess Spider-Man since it made Morlun and he annoys me.

Spiderman!
i never read that Spider-man story but yeah i will go with that cause it sounds Dumb as ^&*
that monarch story PISSED ME off !i was one of those dudes who were like this guy is going to be Captain Atom!(which is the reason i still dislike Atom to this day. he was going to be a great baddie) i still remember Wave-rider getting ready to touch him and find out and they threw me Hawk!! freaking Hawk?!!! what the hell is this!! that story just made me mad but " a spider-god?! get outta here with that!!
geez! these rounds suck!!

You guys disappoint me.
MONARCH and his "I lost my brother, he died, now I'm going to be evil and destroy everyone and every city. WAAH WAAH WAAH" is EASILY worse than "Spider-dude, you dead, now we gonna resurrect you with night vision and stickier stickiness, but you will also have that bunch of spiders who will have sex with Flash Thompson and get pregnant by him, and then you will let birds eat her....."

.........

WTF did I just say? -__-'

anyway, I still vote MONARCH.

I don't think either sucks. I don't think either was good. I never read either story and neither one matters to me enough to form a coherent opinion, let alone rank them.

I never read the Spider-God thing either but I did like the What if? story 'The Other' that came from it.

The Worst of these retcons? Mystical Spider Origins (5-1)

What didn't make the game
news_illustre_1284906569.jpg

Loeb wrote the 12 part arc Hush, introducing the character Hush (Thomas Elliot) and tying him into the Bat-family as childhood friend of Bruce who hated him...for some of the dumbest reasons you can give a villain:

The Elliots were billionaires. When Tommy was little, he was a money-hungry, sociopath. He cut the brake lines to his parents car so they would die while driving, leaving this little boy with their fortune. Except when the accident happened, Bruce's dad saved his mom via surgery, so Tommy, while getting away with murder/attempted murder, had his plans foiled. So he hated Bruce for his father saving his mother's life.

Really? That's why Tommy would go on to be a super-villain? To hate Bruce? I mean, didn't Tommy still have access to his family's money, while a child and afterwards? He literally lived a life as billionaire kid even before he tried to assassinate his folks...I'm not buying this. And then he grows into a successful surgeon who has his fair share of beautiful women...but because his murder plot was partially foiled, he becomes a Batman villain??

This isn't the retcon part...

The retcon is that Paul Dini later gave us Heart of Hush, and in this much smaller arc, he went back and gave us A COMPELLING HISTORY of Tommy Elliot that made more sense to how he would grow into the resentful Hush:

Tommy was a good boy and good friend of Bruce's in their childhood. His parents were sh&%. His dad verbally abused him, possibly molested him, and his mother, afraid that the patriarch would cut them off from his fortunes (since Tommy's mom married into the dad's fortune), she never did anything about these abuses, and told Tommy it was worth it, anything's worth it for money.

His hatred for his parents came from how f***ed up they were to him.
His hatred for Bruce came from how Tommy's mother always favored Bruce over her own son, no matter what Tommy did.
His obsession for money was taught to him by his mother.

This works. And this is a retcon I can get behind. But because this tournament is about retcons that SUCK, this couldn't make the game.

Just go read Heart of Hush and tell me its not a better motivation story for Hush than that over-glorified 12-part Loeb garbage.

Retcon 1-5
Original Sin...Ugh... x It was never Thanos

UOYWp82.jpg

Original Sin...where do I start?

Retcons that debuted:
Thor and Loki have a sister they never knew about: Spawn comics Angela

The mystical god spider that bit Peter also bit Cindy Moon, burdening us with Silk

Tony Stark and Bruce Banner knew each other before Iron Man & the Hulk and the Avengers, and Stark pretty much caused the accident that made Bruce the Hulk (CAUSE THE MOVIES want these two to be tied together as much as possible...I'm still waiting for them to reveal Black Widwow and the Hulk were lovers and that Ultron is actually Iron Man's son-creation)

Dum Dum Dugan has been a Life Model Decay almost all his life, the real Dugan has been dead for decades.

Original Sin: The Retcon Event

PmUe3zm.jpg

I'll keep this one short since I never actually read the comic the above pic is from and had to read about it, but the gist of things is that for years, every time Thanos showed up, every time he came close to his masterplans succeeding but was foiled, defeated, killed...it was a fake. So Thanos has a tendency of pulling a Doctor Doom with his Doombots, a Mysterio with his "that wasn't me, that was an illusion", a Chameleon, eternal LMDs, and Jackal with his clones...any time anyone wants to invalidate a Thanos story, just say Thanos was never there years later...it was a Thanos doppelganger.

God, I hate that...

VOTE FOR which was the worst?

DC comics is literally the company that keeps resetting their entire universe, and yet so far every worst has been on the Marvel side...

Original Sin. It was just randomly changing things because they wanted to do stuff and see if anyone liked it. It was also a way to ditch the old Nick Fury for Nick 'Totally not Sam Jackson' Fury Jr.

The Thanos thing was pretty much expected since everyone couldn't decide who kicked Thanos's ass that week and if he was good enough it let it happen. I just ignore it since Thanos is awesome when written well but rarely ever done so.

Thanos

And that's mostly to spite you irrational habit of hating on Silk :o

Also, am I the only one who wants them to bring the Stacy twins back, just retcon their origins, because they have a lot of potential as characters...

Thanos

There's no irrational hatred for Silk.

Cindy Moon had been locked away in a bunker against her will for ten years, and when she's released, she's not concerned with getting her life back or finding her family or even just dealing with how the world went on without her, all she wanted to do was have non-stop sex with this stranger, Spider-Man, who she's never met before.

And then she immediately becomes a super-hero. And she's written to do everything Peter can do but better and with zero experience. Peter has fought Electro a hundred times, yet he gets his ass handed by him. Silk takes him down on her first try like an ace.

Black Cat is a threat to Peter. Silk goes toe-to-toe with her like they're equals.

Weeks later, Cindy still isn't concerned about where he life is right now, she just wants to f*** Peter every chance they have.

Spiderverse, which was ass, btw, should have been Spider-Man's story. Instead it was the Silk show.

Her powers make no sense. She can make a costume out of her own webs? Do they not dissolve after an hour? Why isn't she naked after an hour? When Peter had organic webbing, it (conveniently) worked just like his manufactured webbing (and symbiote webbing), yet hers is permanent? And can create designs and different colors?

And her webbing does everything, whatever the situation needs. Against Electro, its conveniently electric-proof. When entering a toxic or radioactive environment, it can repel dangerous agents in the air. Give me a break.

She's a Mary-Sue character in a corner of the Marvel Universe where we already have too many Spider people and the main one, Peter, is being written for years as a character that cannot handle his own villains without Silk, the Avengers, or even Mary Jane having to save him. She is to the Spidey books what Red Hulk under Loeb was to the Hulk books.

Original Sin!
that book sucked so bad i hadda stop reading it.. ti started making me feel dumb just reading it and the Orb!! freakin ORB was the big bad! come on!!
that Thanos &*( is stupid and i hate it too.. cause its that whole nonsense of " I got you! no you didnt!.. i was standing over here and that was just my robot double crap!"
.. but nothing compares to freaking trying to make the ORB be a A lister!
geez these stories SUCK!!

The worst of these retcons? Original Sin ruined everything (6-1)
fantasticfour.jpg

Oh yeah...it also revealed that years ago, Johnny Storm ruined the Thing's only chance to be cured and kept this a secret. REALLY? The cure that Human Torch ruined just so happens to be the one that would have worked? Reed has come up with a million cures that never worked, so what are the odds that this one would have been the one to work, and conveniently Johnny messes it up? Ugh.

What didn't make the game
eqRPrg7.png

David Michelinie wrote Planet of the Symbiotes. It was terrible. I'm sorry, creator of Venom, but its true. Anyway, that story elaborated on the origin of the symbiote race, and confirmed that they are all parasitic creatures, neither good nor evil, that only know survival. They're pests, viruses, parasites...

Brian Micheal Bendis, the master of FU continuity (ie: I'll ignore any canon that I didn't write) decided to reveal the origin of the symbiote race (he literally claims this has never been addressed before...again, Michelinie already did it...) reveals that symbiotes are called Klyntar and they are actually a race of benevolent creatures that try to heal, and improve, and live in harmony and love and hug'n'kiss with other organisms. And their homeworld looks like the planet from Avatar, if the entire planet bonded with a Klytbiote...

Dangerous space leeches into hippie life-givers. Good grief.

Retcon 1-6
Aunt May, Dead No More x Donna Troy...Just, Donna Troy
OSpWt9l.jpg

Closing the gap between Robotic Parker-Parents and the Clone Saga, Aunt May got very ill, and she was dying. In Amazing Spider-Man 400, she and Peter spent her final days together, she shared with Peter that she knew he was Spider-Man, then she passed away peacefully.

Incoming retcon: that was a genetically altered actress, and the real Aunt May all this time was...I dunno. In a box asleep? Well, she's back.

What a waste of such a heart-pulling milestone issue. And how did Peter's spider-sense not warn him that woman wasn't his real aunt? And how much did Norman (you know these things are always Norman's doing) pay someone to genetically morph into a 90 year old woman and die?

zv1aNgA.jpg

Okay, so from what I could gather from an hour of research...

Wonder Girl was a young Wonder Woman going on adventures, a la pre-Crisis Superboy

Retcon: That exact same Wonder Girl who is supposed to be a younger Wonder Woman, is now instead (and apparently had always been) Donna Troy, an Amazonian sidekick of Wonder Woman, who was born on Themyscira.

Retcon: No, she was a regular girl, orphaned, and Wonder Woman rescued her from a fire and made her her superpowered sidekick.

Retcon: No, she wasn't recused from a fire by Wonder Woman, it was a character named Rhea that rescued her and made her Wonder Girl...but she has no ties to Wonder Woman or Amazons now...so she calls herself Troia.

Retcon: No, forget everything except for this right here: Donna Troy is a magical clone of Wonder Woman, ever since Wonder Woman was a little girl...a Wonder Girl.

Retcon: And she's a fusion of every previous iteration of Donna Troy...all the ones I typed above...when I told you to forget them. Well, stop forgetting them, cause she pulled a Hawkman and has all these Donna's in her.

Retcon: No, maybe. Because she may instead or also be a time-space displaced leftover from before CoIE who survived into the post-CoIE...instead of all that other stuff...or along with all that other stuff.

New 52: She's evil Wonder Woman.

The evils that CaptainWagner wrought onto this game.

Dumb Aunt May retcon led to us having that wonderful issue of the heart to heart between May and Peter, and a lot of fun followed like when May went to Hollywood with Peter, and she had to explain the webshooters.
:hehe:

As for Donna Troy, I like the character, no further comment.

I have no vote on this one..
Also, am I the only one who wants them to bring the Osborn twins back, just retcon their origins, because they have a lot of potential as characters...
I'd like to see those two again, to be honest.

Aunt May because since she came back HERE, she was still alive to let One More Day happen and continue to be useless into the present day.

Secondly, I think I can leave with random_havoc hating me and Aziz for seeing potential in the twins. :o

And while I can see Wolfie has some points regarding Silk she's been a fun character in everything I've read, and I've heard very good things about her book.

This has been fun, surprisingly. Comics have just always been dumb :DV:
