As far as writers go, Slott is one of the better ones at Marvel. Hickman can be polarizing with his style, Remender has seemingly fallen off the deep end and Bendis...is well, Bendis of course.

My main criticism of Slott is how much he loves Ramos as his main art guy.

Aloha,
DITTO.
Although Ramos has improved, but yea. DITTO.

What I'd like is a really damned good CREDIBLE explanation as to where this second Spider-Person has been all of these years.

Credible.....? In comics.....? :lmao:

This kind of dismissive attitude is too often used to excuse poor or unsatisfying writing. Hopefully some effort at explanation is given. Comics are only as good as the writers choose to make them.

I can't help but be curious how they're going to explain how Silk hasn't been heard of before now. I really hope they don't go the route of trying to insert her into Peter/Spider-man's past and have her playing a role in major moments behind the scenes. I can't imagine that coming off as anything but convoluted and hammy.

You always kind of paint yourself into a corner when you suddenly insert new details in the past continuity, because when you do you find yourself in a situation where you have no choice but to explain certain things, and that kind of storytelling always feels so awkward and forced (for me at least). So all of a sudden, after all these years, we should accept that someone else was bitten? Almost as hard to swallow as the idea of Gwen having kids with Norman Osborn.

Yeah. This is another dumb idea like the mystical animal totem stuff JMS did. And just like that, I doubt it'll be referenced again after 3 or 4 years. Whenever someone tries to tinker, tweak or add stuff to Spidey's origin, it never takes.

Maybe Silk is somebody who has powers but chooses not to use them at all?

That's wha I'm curious about, though people have been speculating that she's the mother of 616 Miles Morales, so...yeah, let's see where this all goes. Not a fan of excessive origin tinkering.

Yes, it is incredibly silly. Also, didn't they already do that in "Spider-Man the final adventure" in like, 1995?

QFT

Even though comics are fantastical and reality-bending, they still need some sort of consistent internal logic and sense of continuity to work (like any other fiction).

Hah! Someone else actually remembers that mini. It's too bad it's so forgotten nowadays (probably since it wasn't Peter's final adventure afterall). I quite liked it. The Portland setting made it very unique, and it had some good writing and fantastic art.

Clone saga will never die.
And I agree. There is a core story to Spider-Man that has lived for 51 years. The essence of that can never be changed and survive. It just doesn't fit.The JMS period is just that, it's HIS period within Amazing Spider-Man. Not much has survived except Morlun.

Solicitation and lettered preview for All-New Amazing Spider-Man issue 2.

Marvel Comics said:
• Electro’s power is out of control! And only one person can fix it...
• ...the Superior Spider-Man!
• Wait. This book’s the AMAZING Spider-Man now.
• So we’re probably out of luck.
• Plus: That thing that freaked you out last issue? There’s more on that. The return of you-know-who? There’s MUCH more on that. Action! Drama! Surprises! There’s MORE OF EVERYTHING!

So she's been shut away in some facility for years then? If so then I suppose it's better than retconning her into Peter's history (y'know other than they already are).

Also what's Spidey punching out Cap for in regards to Venom? Or is this a case of Ghost Ock acting out like Ghost Peter did?

1 - SPOILERS!!!!
2 - I remember this Solicit from Months ago... What was it that we were supposed to be freaked out about?
3 - Who returned last issue that there is much more on that? Cat wasn't gone for long, neither was Max.

He's punching him out because he just casually told him Flash is Venom. He knew Spider-Man was one of his friends but never told him and knew as far back as Spider-Island. Spider-Man finding out Flash has the symbiote would NOT sit well after all his experiences with it and he's rightfully steamed.

Does anyone else get tired of the hero-gets-angry-and-punches-other-hero-in-face cliche? I mean, when you're angry at your friend do you punch him in the face? Now think of Spidey doing that to Cap, except he has super strength. Why can't he just curse him out or call him a dick? It's Captain America, not Venom.

Considering all that Spidey's been through, I'm not surprised he punched him.

I think Cap deserves to be punched lately.

While I'm glad Pete showed anger at the recent events FINALLY, I'm surprised it was only for this. I totally get why he punched Cap (to Pete who doesn't know it's part of the secret Project Rebirth, it's a big betrayal to him when symbiotes are involved and Cap of all people just casually mentions it), but he hasn't shown any significant anger, poutiness or even pain from all of his friends and family not knowing something was off for months. I didn't expect him to web up eight giant middle fingers in New York's skyline, but something would have been nice. Like I said last time, he swept this whole ordeal under the rug waaaaaaay too quickly.

I recently got All New Amazing #1 and Learning to Crawl (1.1) and I am loving it. I love the new direction they're taking Spidey and how they're having him deal with Ock's changes! :woot:

Learning to Crawl is interesting too. I like this Clash guy.
