I blame WB for Batman & Robin more than any director but the director of Batman & Robin should never get another chance at Batman on film.

Now that we find ourselves in a post-TDKT world, I'd encourage people to lighten up on Schumacher. Hell, on Batman & Robin in general. We're coming off of a very successful and very acclaimed Batman trilogy, so it's not like one can antagonize them for "killing the Batman franchise" anymore.

Seriously, if you pop Batman & Robin in and embrace it for what it is, it's pretty damn entertaining. I wouldn't classify it as a good movie, mind you, but I would hardly consider it one of the worst movies of all time.

Eh, I don't know that I ever fully forgive Joel for his Batman movies but he was a pretty good director otherwise. Falling Down, Flatliners and The Lost Boys are great movies. I also really like 8mm, even if no one else does. And I have a soft spot for Blood Creek. It's not a good movie, but I liked Henry Cavill and Michael Fassbender in it.

Competition causes everyone to raise their game because everyone wants to be better than the competition...

And yet, in order to get "better," people end up stealing/rehashing ideas that their competitor has already done. So how exactly is that getting better?

So Joel Shumacher is returning to write and direct Batman. Seriously.

Not ashamed to say this has me really excited. Especially with Dustin Nguyen doing the artwork. Say what you will about the final product, but BF had tons of worthy material there. I've always maintained with some touch-ups there's a great film lurking.

I'm curious whether he will maintain the light tone for the comic, or if it'll be the Joel who was actually doing grit and drama.

To make the forgiveness of Schumacher official WB should mashup B&R with TDK and declare that official. :)

Joel didn't kill anybody, he directed WB's toy commercial the way they wanted him to. Personally I enjoy watching Batman & Robin. It's a super guilty pleasure.

Yea the fact Nguyen's doing the art already sold me. One thing I liked about Forever was originally Bruce was thinking about the night his parents died and he said how he blames himself for their death because he really wanted to see the movies but his parents just didn't want to go see it at the moment.

Some scenes that explored that were deleted but there were some reasons about it.

Imagine how poetic it would be if Schumacher was signed on to direct a Batman film and he knocked it out of the park.

Joel could make a kickass Batman movie today with all that he's learned...with a good script, he could do an amazing Batman movie. The look of Gotham in his movies was always amazing, and I loved all the costumes.

I love Schumacher's Batman films in general, they're awesome

The Lex/Suicide Squad news really blew me away, i think that means we're getting a very well known roster, with some more familiar names to come

I read an interview with him a few years back where he really wanted to do The Dark Knight Returns or Batman: Year One on film...i don't remember which one but it was written by Frank Miller...anyway he wanted to do it but because parent groups protested Batman Returns....WB wanted to move away from dark stuff to what we had

...ugh...parent groups.

I do remember reading that Schumacher really wanted to do Batman: Year One. Sans Forever and B&R, his filmography suggest he could've delivered a dark Batman movie and maybe even a damn good one at that.

It is past the point of no return though, I'm sure. No chance WB would open themselves up to that hellstorm.

Just imagine the Internet's reaction to:

HOLLYWOOD REPORTER: Joel Schumacher to Direct Ben Affleck's Solo Batman Film

I do believe the man who directed A Time to Kill would give us a pretty kick ass batman movie

As has already been said it's never going to happen. WB are trying to make money.
