My days of berating superhero fans for failing to read comics are long behind me. I don't bother to read them myself, anymore.

All the same, it is nice to have some grounding in the lore. One or two anthologies ought to suffice.

The only comic book stories that I remember reading are: Death, World Without, & Return of Superman... Birthright.... Secret Origins.... Superman Earth One: Volume 1 & 2..... Batman Earth One..... and Death of Captain America.

That includes what you already own?

How is his character in the New 52?
All I know about that version is he's dating Wonder Woman.
52 reboot was a good point to drop the DC line.

Only character I can tell you about in the 52 is Flash.

I'd say go with Superman TAS, it's much quicker and easier to get into his mythos than the comics. (and better if I do say so myself)

For the movie, should they go with Coluan Brainiac or a variation of STAS Brainiac? I prefer STAS Brainiac myself...

and ya Kane i agree.. STAS is the best interpretation of Superman ever imo. I've read my fair share of Superman stories and nothing compares to STAS. Well except for the first two Reeve movies, they're on the same level

Gotham shouldn't look like a normal city. There should be a degree of fantasy. The look of Gotham in Burton's and Schumacher's movies is preferable to the real world look of Gotham in TDKT

If I remember correctly, Gotham has been depicted as a "normal" looking city for most of the Batman's publication history, so technically, Gotham should look the way it looked in, say, Batman Begins, as opposed to the crazy acid dream from the Schumacher films. With that said, both looks are valid, and I enjoy the look of the Schumacher films, or at least Batman Forever. I haven't seen B&R in it's entirety since I was a kid in 1997.

As always... Cannot stand Timm's Superman until the Twilight eps of JL and JLU seasons.

Superman: TAS has its bumpy moments portraying Superman's strength.
One time he can stop a shuttle, another time he has a hard time lifting something the size of the helicopter Chris Reeve version held in the first movie.

Why the heck hasn't anyone suggested Action Comics #775 "What's So Funny About Truth, Justice & the American Way?

One of the finest Superman comics ever.

Let's not forget the pseudo cuckolding by Bruce Wayne.

I appreciated that he wasn't that strong, altough sometimes he was annoyingly weak. However, it seems like it was up to the writer. It seems to me that MOS Superman isn't much stronger than Timm's?

Superman The Animated Series is the best take on Superman ever...

He's getting stronger though, As Jor El said he has to keep testing his limits.:woot:

Deadline said:
Sandman, which Joseph Gordon-Levitt will direct and star in. He’ll produce with Goyer and involved as exec producer is Neil Gaiman, who created the classic comic that Jack Thorne is adapting. The story is a mix of horror and fantasy, and the central character is Morpheus, the personification of dreams who, after being held captive 70 years, escapes, gains revenge and rebuilds his crumbling kingdom. “I hesitate to definitively say when it might go before the cameras, but the one thing different between other iterations and ours is that Neil Gaiman has been in the room with us and is a vital part of the team,” Goyer said. “We have a draft Warners is very happy with and we’re moving forward, knock on wood.”

some kinda new info in this article if anyone is interested

The Sandman is a great comic book from Vertigo. Highly recommended.

Booooooooooooooo!

Batman Returns is my favourte Batman film yes higher than The Dark Knight.

Returns is my favorite too, although I like most Batman films more than The Dark Knight. :awesome:

Well if you enjoyed MOS chances are you would like New 52 Superman more than Post-crisis Superman...maybe.

Really? I would say MOS Supes was far more like Byrne level or JLU level powered, which is to say, WONDERFULLY RIDICULOUS. Timm's Supes wasn't particularly amazing strength and durability wise to me, where as in MOS Supes was undoubtably a powerhouse, a Titan in human form.

An '89 skin would be :awesome:

I'm using the 70's one a lot in Arkham City even if it does stick out like a sore thumb.

I'm not a huge fan of the blue and grey 70's suit, but I really enjoyed using it in the game for some reason.
