You mean Batman-On-Film?

Well, both. Batman-News isn't nearly as bad as Batman-On-Film. BOF makes Batman-News look like Variety. I know ChrisB is big around here and I'm in the minority, but I haven't found Batman-News to be very reliable. To his/their credit, Batman-News seems to hit shooting/location news right on the nail. But the majority of the time I take a glance at their exclusives/confirmations and don't think much more of it.

I haven't read it but have seen some stuff from it. Love Jim's art but still Frank just ugh.

Gotta give Frank props, wrote this great scene.

That is truly one of the DUMBEST things Jim Lee has ever drawn, but I can't blame him since it's Miller. Things like Robin beating on Hal make NO SENSE WHAT SO EVER, and show that once again FOR A VERY LONG TIME, DC sacrificed it's characters on the alter of the BatGod, then wondered why they couldn't get traction in the marketplace with it's other characters.

Sacrificing the inherent dignity of every other character (often in simply THE DUMBEST WAYS POSSIBLE) to make another character and his mythos which was already popular and well liked look good was a misstep for me and dare I say it, a lot of other fans of DC. I say this as someone that has always loved Batman, but the way they had him interact with other DC characters for a long time was just ridiculous and off putting to me. It seems there has been some adjustments made to that recently and hopefully with the DCCU we get more of Denny O'neil's "Bat-Master" and zero "BatGod".

I love Death in the Family story.
especially that bit with Batman breaking his knuckles after punching Superman's face.

What book is that from? And why the hell is Robin gold?

From one of the issues of the infamous All Star Batman & Robin.
He's yellow so Green Lantern's ring light won't do any damage to him.

How did Robin make himself yellow? Never mind, it looks ridiculous no matter what.

I think ChrisB has the best Batman-related site on the internet, honestly. I love it. Wouldn't go anywhere else.

Just to play devil's advocate!

Superman could easily be a blackman or anything else besides a white guy. :oldrazz:

I wait for the lynch mob.

Lol, what? Exactly what are you basing this off of? You have no reason to believe either company is doing it just to fill a requirement...What makes you think DC is "choosing the best actor for the role" while Marvel isn't?
How am I bashing Marvel? When did I say Marvel is was not choosing the best actors for roles? Seriously, where?

I find it interesting that so many people in the media were talking about which company, DC or Marvel, were going to have the first black lead in a CBM in the "Modern" Superhero movie era, especially after the Cyborg movie and the Black Panther movie announcement. It looks like Suicide Squad will be the first to that to that with Will Smith.

I always felt that debate sometime became trivial due to the fact people made it out to be game almost, like it became about who will do it first, picking sides between companies. It some times felt like the debate moved from discussing the real big problem of the lack of diversity in CBMs and in movies in general, to becoming "lets do it so we can do it before the other company does", which the wrong way to go about it.

All I was saying here was that I felt sometimes people were framing the debate like it was arms race on who would do it first and that I didn't like that. I didn't like the fact that SOME people were treating the lack of diversity in CBMs and Movies like it was some sort of game, not that DC or Marvel was. I never accused DC or Marvel of anything like that

That is why I like the casting of Will Smith as Deadshot so much, it never seemed like his name was in the discussion because they want to one up marvel for a black lead but rather because he is a major star and he they thought he would be perfect to lead this film, in Warner Bros eyes at least. Similar to Jason Momoa as Aquaman, I never felt they went out of there way to cast a minority just to cast one. It felt natural. WB/DC was like "Who would make a badass Aquaman?" And Jason Momoa was at the top of that list, not because they needed to fill a quota of non-white actors but because they thought he would be badass in the part.

All I was saying here was I like how color blind WB/DC has been so far with casting. Not taking into account skin color or feeling like were obligated to cast a minority but rather casting actors who they liked and seem like would be good in the role regardless of skin color. I never accused Marvel of being the opposite of that thinking in any way.

Marvel did it way back in 2011, when they cast a black actor for a pretty darn white character.

And let's not forget Nick Fury, who is as major as any core Avenger.

Sorry, it just seems like you're pulling stuff out of thin air to trash the rival company. You should also note that Black Panther will be in Civil War, which comes out before SS...so you're wrong about Smith being the first (natural :whatever:) black lead to star as well.

You've gotta love fanboys. If you don't make a Black Panther movie before the main Avengers, you're accused of white-washing and being racist, blah blah. When you do make a solo with a black lead, you're apparently only doing it to do it "meet a quota", while DC is totally "natural". What a joke.

Like I said, where did I say Marvel was doing this!? When did I say that marvel was making Black Panther to meet a quota or white-washing!? Seriously Where? I didn't even bring them in this regard. I am glad Marvel cast Sam Jackson as Nick Fury, that is perfect casting. I think it is awesome Marvel cast Idris Elba as Heimdall. Like I said I never accused Marvel of anything! If it seemed like I was imply anything otherwise, then my bad, that was never my intention. I was just commenting how I like what DC is doing with casting, I never said anything about how Marvel was doing their casting, which I think they are doing fine job so far.

And by the way, Black Panther will be a supporting character in Civil War, not a lead and Cyborg will be in Batman V Superman, which comes out before Civil War, so Cyborg will be first using that logic. But that is my point, It was never about who is first for me but that we see more diversity CBMs because that is a more accurate reflection of how things are today. I do not care if Marvel or DC does it first but rather that it is happening going forward, which is seems like it is, so kudos for both companies.

Or maybe, Hal sucks.

Hi there, -Arya- :)

Listen to this. Batman and Robin painted themselves yellow. And the room they're in. Like, with paint. They painted the room yellow with yellow paint and then they painted themselves yellow with yellow paint. Like that. Wanna know more? Batman kept drinking... yellow lemonade during his dialogue with Green Lantern. Yes.

You gotta read All Star Batman & Robin, but when you do, you have to imagine bat-fans around the world reacting to it.

It's hard to believe the same man who created BTDKR and Year One came up with stuff like this. :(

Cheers.
