I had always imagined the DCCU Atlantis as sort of being a cross between Asgard and the underwater city from Star Wars Episode I. That sort of solves the talking underwater problem, doesn't it?

This has been something I've thought of too. The Atlantis mythos in the DCU is going to have to go through some changes for the big screen, for practicality if nothing else.

If anyone has read Aquaman in the past 4 years, they wouldn't be making fun of him. Everyone is just hellbent on Superfriends Aquaman for some reason.

Creative decisions have and always will be followed by some form of criticism, regardless of what they are. So, just focus on yourself and be content with your own happiness. You can't please everyone.

I was never a huge Aquaman fan and still aren't in any media including comics but he's alright. I don't get the hate. Underrated to an extend

The idea that a superhero who happens to live underwater and have some control over it being a joke always seemed strange to me. It didn't seem to harm Namor.
So it just show the effect the Superfriends had on the character. And the lazy nature of going back to it for a joke.
There are plenty of goofy things in comics going back decades but for whatever reason they don't all follow the character.

But one good mainstream outing and he should get out from under the cloud. Even if annoyingly the people think he was "made cool" for the movies.

Anyway, whatcha gonna do.

I think WB will be using the solo movies to do origins while having everyone be established in a sense by B/S and JL.
