As a long time fan of this stuff, and I mean LONG, I saw SUPERMAN: THE MOVE in theaters when I was two years old, I LOVE that you are into this mythology Mr. R. Really. I love both, but seeing passionate fans for DC is always great given that, frankly, Marvel doesn't need any help these days with film and tv. But... You have a tendency to let your enthusiasm trump any wise judgment. You jump the gun alot and do come off too often as though you are the only "true believer" and authority on GL or a whatever topic at hand... I can't help it, but that sort of thing always sticks in my craw and tends to set me off. Apologies, but that's my view.
I don't mean to come off that way. The problem here is the apathy and ignorance towards Green Lantern. this place is comprised of Batman and Superman fans that are generally apathetic and ignorant towards GL, so someone has to represent the character. I've got a good grasp on the mythology and not many other people here seem to.

Hal Jordan and Kyle Rayner are the literal center of the GL mythology. It seems like blasphemy to use any other GL besides them.

I love JL animated series, but it would've been a better show if Hal would've been used IMO.

The whole diversity thing gets lumped into the discussion, but for me, it's not about that at all. I don't give a damn what race Hal Jordan is, but his character is way too important to the mythology to overlook.

Maybe it comes off like i think i'm the only authority on GL, but really it's just because no one else here seems to even care, so someone had to step up.

I'm known here as the "Hal Jordan/GL guy" and that's not even my favorite character. I prefer Superman, Dick Grayson and Batman, but the apathy towards GL after the 2011 movie has left a void. There are few GL fans here besides me, lantervenom and highfivingmf.

It depresses me. GL is such an amazing character. After Superman and Batman, i feel he has the most cinematic potential for a movie series, and no one else really seems to agree with me on this. So i feel the need to constantly bring it up, hoping that i can change people's minds.

I urge everyone to read Geoff Johns' GL run. It's friggin GENIUS. I didn't give a **** about Hal Jordan before I read Johns' GL run. Now he's my no 3 hero.

i think it's a mistake to use John instead of Hal in JL , but i understand why they would do that after how ****** the 2011 movie was. I'm not ignorant. I know why John has so much support. I just wish more people would read Johns' GL run. I think there would be far more Hal supporters if Johns' run was more popular.

Once again, my GL preference has ABSOLUTELY 0% to do with race. I think a black Hal Jordan would be a genius move. It's about the mythology, not about the race..

I really think Michael B Jordan was wasted on The Human Torch. He would've been THE PERFECT Hal Jordan. His acting style completely embodies the character.

Let me guess: You only make it through the first six minutes? ;)

That explains why you treat CIA like the big guy of the movie. :)

Now that Sony f'ed up Spider-man, WB should snatch up Emma Stone and Dane DeHaan.

lol, has anyone suggested Jamie Foxx for John Stewart?

Emma Stone for Barbara Gordon, and Dehaan for Jason Todd.

BB and TDK are literal 10/10 movies for me.

but **** TDKR. John Blake should've been Dick Grayson. Selina Kyle should've had a better costume. The death of Dick's parents should've gotten Bruce out of retirement.

and one last controversial thought on the movie:

If Heath was still alive, he would've been in TDKR, and it would've been a WAY better movie. TDKR is good not great. A REAL Robin, not an imposter like John Blake, along with the Joker could've propelled TDKR to 10/10 status

I loved that movie when it came out, but when i watch it now it's easily the worst of the entire series.

I think the whole film would've been better with Bats staying dead.

This is genius. Not kidding.

and Jamie Foxx would be an amazing John Stewart. and NO Andrew Garfield in any other comic book movie. he is a good actor. loved him in Parnassus. But he was a terrible Spider-Man, so bad that i never want to see him in a CBM again. I will gladly await his non CBM performances, but keep him out of CBMs

i keep thinking of the new Batman series as a trilogy.

The finale needs Joker.

Maybe the first movie starts with an adaptation of ASHOSE and the first Arkham game

Number 2 could be like Under the Red Hood but with a bigger Ra's presence

number 3 culminates with the final battle between Joker and Batman, Joker learns of Bruce's identity, and Bruce finally snaps.

throughout the trilogy, we get to see the rest of Batman's rogues gallery in small roles (primarily Mr Freeze, Scarecrow, Penguin, Riddler, Two Face, Catwoman, Poison Ivy) all these characters can be done justice in small roles. It has been proven through stories like Robin Year One, TLH, Dark Victory, and Hush. They can be done justice in small supporting roles. Ra's and Joker deserve to be the major villains of the next trilogy

Hopefully we can get a trilogy. there are so many movies that the DCCU can churn out, a Batman trilogy seems like wishful thinking, but i really hope it happens

Am I in the minority of people that doesn't ever want to see Robin on the big screen in the capacity of actually venturing out with Bruce?

We never got a real Robin on screen. I'd like to see a teenage Tim Drake and adult Nightwing with Batfleck.

If it's like the Nolan series, then yes, it wouldn't make much sense, but if its more fantastical(which I hope this universe is), than I would love to see a proper Robin. Why not?

I'm so glad the Nolan movies are done.

I can't say whether you are or aren't... But I certainly would very much like to see a Batman film with a truly under 18 years old Robin. Follow his story, show him training with Batman... I don't really think it's quite the stretch of the suspension of disbelief simply because EVERYTHING about Batman is about the suspension of disbelief. If presented the right way, I think Robin could work and you wouldn't have to have an actor in his 20's playing the part. Dick is Bruce's TRUE son, and so the connection has to be made when he's young. I am for it, though I get some people's problems with the concept as a whole.

Dick Grayson is the man. I will be depressed if we don't see him on film. I urge you to read Dark Victory and Robin Year One ASAP.

Also, watch Robin's Reckoning Part 1 and 2

Get back to me.

That goes for everyone that dislikes Dick Grayson. Read Dark Victory, Robin Year One and watch Robin's Reckoning part 1 and 2, if you still don't like Dick Grayson, that is fair and just your opinion, but you got to give the character a fair shake. Watch and read those stories, he's one of the most popular DC characters for a reason

Honestly if it wasn't for BTAS' Dick Grayson, I wouldn't be the DC fan i am today.

Credit to our very own Kalmart.

When this happens on the big screen, I shall cry.

I would cry a little too, I reckon.:ilv:

For the record, your enthusiasm for GL isn't a problem at all. We all have our favourites. But...could you not just sing his praises and "represent" without the "I know best" talk? You're still doing it...in this paragraph right here. There's no need to reiterate that you have a better grasp and that others don't seem to. That's not for you to judge. In fact, it goes wildly against your manifesto to represent because it's irritating and distracts from the positive things you're saying about the character.

We might be a minority, but I'm with you. I'm just not that into Robin. I prefer batman to be a lone wolf sort of character when he's not with the JL and even his JL interactions require effort to flow smoothly.

I do think Batfleck will be an isolated individual when we first meet him. But as he develops, relationships may be mended. So I think it would be a shame to airbrush Robin and the other Batfamily out of the films for fear of 'camp'. We can still have solo Batman missions, perhaps with Robin tagging along every so often ala BTAS. The Arkham series also managed to integrate Robin in AC and the comics. I think he definitely adds something to the Batman universe. For example I appreciate how B66 Batman passes on his knowledge to the next generation and serves the role of a father.

So long as he's in his late teens for me, I'd be fine with it, but a kid version doesn't work for me. When introduced to this Batman, I'm hoping to see (or hear about for now, but see later) Nightwing, Barbara still as Batgirl (and later do the whole Killing Joke scene and from there spin her off into Birds of Prey where we can really tackle her dealing with her new situation) and late teens Tim Drake Robin that will later become Red Robin. But I wouldn't be disappointed to not see Robin in there. The first two are the important ones to me.
