The AoU trailer is solid. It's no different to the Whedon/Marvel formula that works. I don't think anybody was expecting anything different or expect Marvel to drop the ball. They are far too into their successful formula to change anything up and shouldn't IMO.

This feels different from Ant-Man, which felt different from Iron Man, which felt different from Cap, Guardians, etc. If the implication is that BVS won't subscribe to a similar blockbuster formula, I'd have to doubt that.

simply ebin :^)

Ye sides in orbit yet?

I'm sold by that shot, I wasn't going to watch the trailer because I didn't want another Hulk saves Iron Man moment spoiled but goddamn.
Ultron puts the Man from M.U.R.D.E.R to shame.

Spoken like a true Nolanite. :o

They all have their individual feel..there's no question to that but judging from the films above, I feel they are all connected and leave me within' the same impression of its Marvel Universe. The formula doesn't deviate from that. Hell, even the humor is there.

The "Ant-Man" trailer ends with "Can we change that name?" joke and AoU ends with "You just had to ask, didn't you?" joke. Though all individuality is there, it still feels like the same formula to me. It's not a knock or anything. It's just you can tell what a Marvel film is and you can tell what a DC film is; ala Man of Steel/TDK tone.

That trailer was epic. Trying to justify ways to minimalize it by categorizing it seems desperate.

It's a trailer. All trailers look the same. I hope the BvS trailers blows me away even more.

Huh? I'm not trying to minimize it at all and I assure you, I don't lose sleep in any "desperate" act in saying that AoU is categorized. Selective reading at its finest since I said that the trailer was solid and doesn't deviate from Marvel's successful plan. Just discussing it like everybody else with an opinion.

Marvel has their brand, DC has theirs. There will be variation from movie to movie, but the there is certainly a strong sense of brand identity there, just like with the comics.

Somebody's biased.. get your head out of your butt.. that shot is straight off the comic pages. There is a reason everyone's freaking out.. it's glorious. If that was Justice League you'd be pooing your pants in excitement.

^THIS. Now wonder why mods have migraines over this DC/Marvel stuff. Though we're in the BvS thread, a simple discussion is scrutinized as hate and desperation. Hah.

I dont want Marvel to be darker, or even more serious. I just don't care about Joss Whedon directing those movies and i also don't want them to be too campy. Winter Soldier and the first Iron Man had a great balance. Of course WS had a more serious tone but still has what makes Marvel...Marvel.

It's like how a Green Lantern movie shouldn't be made like 2011's. That was Warner Brothers trying to make some kind of Marvel movie and it didn't work. Superman and Flash shouldn't be as dark as Batman either but they need a balance. Im not interested in seeing a Flash movie because i don't care for his villains or supporting characters, but i realize that it needs to be lighter. Does it have to be ALL light though? No. I still want some serious, dark stuff. Same with Superman, just only some of the time. The light should probably outweigh the dark but you need both. Or at least i want both.

The tone of Ultron's trailers fits as a sequel. The stakes are higher and it sets up the crumbling of the Avengers. But i still don't care for the direction, or some of the characters (Hawkeye, Ultron & his faceless army (again??), Quicksilver (the dull version). Pretty sure we'll finally get the jokes when we see the full movie though.

Im sure the tone of the Batman v Superman trailers will be dark as hell with a lot of great visual treats. And that fits this universe. Once we see the movie, i hope we see the lighter side of Superman though.

I agree with this. I just pray that MoS isn't the template for what the DCCU will eventually be. At least not the dominant one. Call me crazy, but I like color and humor in my (non Batman) SH movies.

If the inevitable BvS trailer is half as glorious, I will be very happy.

Well, one MOS trailer ended with the "Excuse me" line. Yeah, MOS feels closer in tone to the Nolan batfilms than to Marvel, but that really is everything you can bring the "DCCU tone" down to, the fact that their one film, MOS, feels TDK-ish. I'd question the wisdom of painting every character with the Batman brush, but anyway. Marvel does bother giving each franchise their very own tone, even if they completely contrast with each other. So if there's a formula present it's not a samey one, and it's definitely not one that DC is above from.

If the JL trailer felt exactly the same, I doubt people would be calling it "Marvel formula". It feels very grave and high-stakes.

The lighter side of Superman is inevitable if Batman is there.

Snyder truly knows how to produce an excellent trailer... the BvS trailer will be something else entirely.

BatLobsterRises already summed up to what I was saying:

Everything else in between gave me a headache. :mnm:

Haha thanks. It's really pretty simple when you break it down. DC is DC. Marvel is Marvel. Everyone has their preferences, and some enjoy it all. End of story really.

DC's version of "fun" won't be the same as Marvel's version of "fun". Marvel's version of "dark" won't be the same as DC's version of "dark".

It's like two entirely different flavors that just happen to share similar ingredients.

Spot on and to the point without the usual debate. Careful, though. The selective readers will be out to get you with how desperate you sound (?) haha.:woot:

Sometimes, when I look at the new batmobile I think it's about the second best batmobile made for film (excluding the animated movies), other times I think it's not really much better looking than the tumbler, and I love the look of the tumbler.

Hey there, once you get to better know the person you quoted you'd probably figure he's not a biased person, he's just another person sharing his two cents.
I hope we get to know you better as well. :)
