BvS All Things Batman v Superman: An Open Discussion - - - Part 144

I've seen people on twitter saying WB might move BvS to October. Just don't know how relieble such people are.

I keep having this feeling myself. Probably not going to happen, but with scoring already happening, March seems SO far away even if they want to make it perfect.

It's not being released in October so let's not even consider that as a possibility.

The only way this thing is getting released in October is if October is a random foreign translation for March

Although very unlikely, it's definitely possible. What are they going to do for 11 months with this movie? How much post-production can you do with 120-150 minutes of film?

John Wick directors for Batman? I call David Ayer but i guess it's a possibility. Or maybe for a Nightwing movie..

If Red Hood is a priority, then i see a Under The Red Hood meets Dark Knight Returns mix for the Batman movie. A lot of fans will be happy about that.

They have to score the whole move and finish VFX. This movie won't be complete for a few month's yet.

That leaves 8-9 months for what? Marketing? Reshoots? Snyder to torture us?

Yes to wait that's it.

No one worth their salt is even reporting this October rumour for heaven's sake.

I think theres a lot more work involved that they can get started on in the 7-8 months of this film sitting in the vault before release. They could have finished the film last year and still found enough to get work on until March 2016. Zack Snyder is creating a brand new cinematic universe, people. It doesn't happen overnight. Concept art, scripts, story boards, casting calls, wardrobe selection/creating/fitting, source material research, purchasing materials, building sets/vehicles/suits/props, marketing/branding, scouting locations, scheduling film location windows, constantly hiring on new staff/contractors, film editing, VFX research, testing new film technology, film formatting, filtering, audio production, score creation. All of this and more needs to be done for two films every year until 2020. 2013/2014/2015 was and is preparation for all of it.

So what were you guys saying?

2) 3D premiums - I wish we had legit information of the difference between regular viewing $$ and 3D viewing $$, I can't imagine it's that significant, making me wonder why people are adding 3D as if it's a difference-maker.

On average, 3D adds around 3$ to 3.50$ per ticket extra. In the heyday of 3D i.e. 2009-2012, 3D shares for a movie hovered around 70-80% of tickets sold, it has since reduced drastically and is around 40-45% of tickets.

According to BOM, the average ticket price in the US is 9$, so if a movie makes 150M without 3D on OW, that is approx 17M tickets sold. 45% of that is 7.5M tickets. Tack on 3.25$ per ticket extra and that is an extra 25M dollars right there. Thereby making 3D the difference between a 150M OW and a 175M OW. Higher 3D shares and higher 3D upcharges = higher difference.

is there anyone here who actually loves 3D?
When its done right, I love it, but I can count those films on one hand. Hopefully it's more than an afterthought this time as opposed to MOS, which the 3D added nothing to.

yeah, I have MOS 3D bluray and 98% of the time I play the 2D version. It didn't make much difference.

As opposed to Pacific Rim, which I play in 3D almost always. Nothing compares to Gravity or Avatar though.

You are correct sir!

This isn't an El Maybe diss but of course WB would court the John Wick directors.

The 3D on MOS wasn’t an “afterthought.” Though the movie was shot in 2D, various technical measurements and data were collected during production for the 3D conversion. I.e., 3D was always part of the plan.

Give me Red Hood in the solo bat movie and I'm a happy camper. Planting seeds for it in BvS and Suicide Squad like the rumors say would be pretty awesome.

But oh, I forgot! WB doesn't have a plan!

If that solo Batman movie is Under the Red Hood/Dark Knight Returns-esque, the John Wick directors are practically perfect for that gig.

Affleck is still my first choice for the solo bat movie, but I'm sure they'd do good. Haven't seen John Wick but I'd've heard nothing but great things.

Zack Snyder-Man of Steel/Batman V. Superman/Justice League Parts One and Two
David Ayer-Suicide Squad
Michelle McLaren-Wonder Woman
Jeff Nichols(?)-Aquaman
Phil Lord & Chris Miller(?)-The Flash
James Wan
David Leitch & Chad Stahelski

The latter 3-4 are rumors, but Warner Bros. managed to get all of them.....****in' Christ. :wow:

Wonder if Snyder will be a bit burnt out after JL2 or still raring to go. Wouldn't be surprised if he wanted a rest for a bit at least.
