Well, destruction porn is not interesting per se. It is merely fun and sort of required with blockbusters. Where I aim to seek "interesting" in this film is its storyline, which is the reason why I'd prefer a more story-driven film.

Yeah, as I've pointed out before, I'm an action movie guy and I think this is an action movie genre. That's not to say I don't want a story either, I'm greedy, I want both. And we've seen movies that are capable of doing both.

I've just never been that big on the faceless Army or group of random henchmen being the Final Battle. I mean, sure, villains having an Army or a group of henchmen makes sense, and those scenes can be cool too, mainly to show off how impressive the hero's skills are. But I've always preferred the big showdown with a formidable enemy. If you're going to have an action piece be the end-game, make it a good one, not just some random thugs for the hero's to pound on for a minute or two.

Yeah... after seeing Mad Max, I so so heartily regret saying George Miller shouldn't do Justice League. Reconsider it WB.

Well I'm definitely quality over quantity, where I definitely prefer having a small number of villains that actually feel menacing than having a huge nameless/faceless army that are disposed of with ease by the heroes involved.

It's probably why, even as a Superman fan, I've found the likes of the Joker to be more menacing and threatening than someone like General Zod, despite the latter being capable of causing more damage than the Joker on a threat level scale.

I think lack of character deaths could separate DC from Marvel and counter the "too dark" complaints. I'd rather DC focus on thematic complexities instead of manufactured drama.

That being said, I still Death of Superman fitting in with the apparent themes of this film. We'll see.

Marvel doesn't have character deaths. :p

I do agree very much about focusing on thematic complexities rather than manufactured drama though.

Fair enough. To each their own.

I mean it is silly not to expect action in an action film and especially to be disappointed by its inclusion, I just hope it'll be well-executed as an extension of a strong storyline and not a bunch of fight scenes put there just because it has to follow a certain formula, that's all.
And I would be content with merely henchmen and mercenaries in the third act (probably because I am not that big of a fan when it comes to action genre), but I can see how some (probably most) people would have a problem with that.

Nah, JL should definitely be Snyder's. Miller could take Superman or Batman solo though.

Was honestly disappointed with Mad Max: Fury Road. Stunts were amazing, but the story fell flat and the only interesting character was Nicolaus Hoult's Nux.

Miller's direction was frenetic and interesting to look at, but the script hit a wall at the end of the second act.

So Matthew Mcconaughey is apparently reading DC and Marvel scripts.

Would love to see him as a grizzled veteran pilot Hal Jordan who could be the team's foil for Bruce Wayne so that the Justice League doesn't come off as Uncle Bruce and the Superkids.

Personally, I would like to see McConaughey in Dark Universe.

I'd pay good money to see Matthew McConaughey's Spectre advertising Lincolns.

mcconaughey as hal jordan would be incredible casting, and for that reason, i'm sure it won't happen. haha.

love wise's comment about how he could keep a nice balance, and not allow it to become bruce and his super babies.

With Snyder handling the main JLA films, they need to enlist George Miller for 'JL: Dark Universe'.

Del Toro + Miller = :hmr:

Yeah Matthew McConaughey would be the perfect Hal Jordan. He's the best choice for Hal if the intention is to do the Hal/Parallax story.

i don't think a GL movie franchise would be complete without some inspiration from the events of Emerald Twilight.

Get MM in as Hal, that he has been GL for a while, but mainly in space etc - have him in one movie, then move along to Stewart... boom

i hated emerald twilight, it was just a stupid gimmick move they made to follow up the death of superman and batman's broken back. as a hal jordan fan, i want no part of that travesty in the films. thank god for geoff johns.

i thought the leaked fake script did a great job of finding a way to utilize the corps and not just one gl. i'd love to see snyder do the same.

Just curious, why are alla y'all so all-fired certain there has to be a so-called "physical" foe in this movie?
Because Wonder Woman being in this = muscle villain for them to punch around apparently

Fanboys are really downplaying Luthor as a villain. Which is a shame really

well, non-fanboy, thanks for stopping in from the godard forums to break it down.

but luthor ain't real, and i think most people are just assuming warners is going to have an effects villain. seems more common sense than underestimating a fictional character's intelligence.
