BvS All Things Batman v Superman: An Open Discussion - - - - - - - - Part 172

I'm feeling confident this film is going to deliver. After Green Lantern bombed, WB has been very cautionary with their films, notably DC. Now however, they have already committed to making SS before BvS even comes out, and are prepping Wonder Woman production, which suggest confidence in Gadot's performance in BvS. Then there are some of the cast members such as Affleck, Irons and recently Eisenberg who keep referring to how great the script is.

Personally, I have immense faith this film will deliver.

Has someone made a list of all the "scoops" el maybe has had so far on BvS? We should compare what he got right and wrong once the movie finally plays. Also, did he do this with Man of Steel?

Levitikuz had a huge list of them, which he had(has) in sig. Under the jimmies status.

O yea! I do remember him making that type of list. Thanks for reminding me.

A post credit tagged on to the end of a film and a flash back used mid-film are very different. Also using a flash back from another director's film in a series during another installment of said series is also very different from having another director shoot material for inclusion in a film that wrapped shooting months ago.

Somebody put out the roach signal.

What's the question?

If they were going to film a scene for BVS...Snyder would have shot it. Also a movie would have cast all its roles before shooting. I believe Leto was cast after BvS was done shooting. If Leto was going to be in BvS then he would have been cast during production. Aquaman, Vic Stone and the Flash were all cast during BvS production.

What did you think about Goyer being fired, blacklisted, excommunicated, and exiled to Antarctica to live out the rest of his life in shame?

I actually look forward to this. Then we can tell the adults from the children.

Company wars are for babies.
Wouldn't it be lovely if both films were great and everyone was happy? Obviously impossible, but just imagine for a moment, a world where BvS elicited TDK-levels of fan euphoria and Civil War elicited Avengers-levels of fan euphoria. Would fans of both sides be so happy in their bliss that they could all live together in peace and harmony and sunshine and rainbows? This is the Hype I dream of. ;)

Watching Batman Begins. I now enjoy thinking about the fact Christopher Nolan had to direct a group of extras in singing "Happy Birthday, Dear Bru-UCE!"

Sadly, both films could make the exact same amount of money and score the exact same ratings on RottenTomatoes and MetaCritic and fans would still bicker amongst themselves over who had "the better $1 billion box office" or "the better 85% on RottenTomatoes."

My only issue with Civil War is it's based on a story I loathe with every fiber of my being. I hope they are just taking the name and changing everything about the story.

I'm optimistic about both Civil War and BvS. My one and two most anticipated blockbusters of 2016.

Well, a writer who isn't Mark Millar is doing it so everyone won't be an incompetent jerk who has no business being referred to as a superhero.

I do hope both films are awesome, but competence is good. Harmony brings foward complacence.

It's the "hater's gonna hate" paradox.

I don't think Civil War or BvS will be exact translations of their source material.

One thing bothers me about the timing of SS and BvS. Someone said that the events in SS was supposed to take place between MoS and BvS. And yet BvS is airing first. I'm wondering how that is going to work and not confuse the audience seeing as how Bats and Aquaman are in both. Even if they are small roles it seems like it would be odd.

I don't think it was ever confirmed when SS takes place. It could very well take place after BvS.

Yeah. Civil War is likely gonna have a diminished role for Spiderman, if nothing else. And I'm not convinced they'll do the death of Cap either.

If it turns out Spider-Man has nothing more than a cameo or post-credits scene in Civil War, those boards might have a complete meltdown.

Definitely not. Feige said long ago that the MCU version of Civil War would be dramatically different, and BvS seems to be its own thing entirely, imo.

Also the heroes are already unmasked so the registration angle wouldn't work the same way. I'm only going by what I've read about the comics, I haven't actually read Civil War.

I think Man of Steel is a decent movie in its own right, but a problematic precursor to the DC Cinematic Universe, if that makes sense? It would be easier for me to accept the movie if it was like an Elseworlds story, but not a good film to set a precedent for Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman, etc. Overall I am hopeful that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice can improve on the latter film's mistakes and establish a solid foundation for the rest of the upcoming DC films.
