I dunno if this has been posted (probably has) but who cares...

Batman v Superman is taking over Times Square

You're right. That is wild.

I actually kinda like it. If DS is in the Knightmare vision, then it makes sense he has operatives on Earth. The boom tube being like a tornado could explain the way his operatives got to Earth. Perhaps, if the anti-life equation or even life equation is in the codex that's part of Superman's blood, DS could have been patiently watching Supes his whole life, waiting for the time to be right to face him. Hell, taking Pa Kent could have been an intentional act meant to make Supes more susceptible to DS' control.

Yeah that's the one script decision that I can never get behind. A big cgi tornado sequence where Pa Kent idiotically throws his life away by telling Clark to get to the overpass and he'll go back for the dog, when he knows full well that the tornado poses no danger to Clark.

Maybe I'm too sentimentally attached to the 78 movie's version of Jonathan's death which is done simply and quickly and teaches Clark a poignant lesson about life and death and that no matter what he does he can't save everyone.

This is a problematic scene for me as well for a couple of different reasons, but I kind of understand Pa Kent's reasoning.

In the flashback sequences to Clark's childhood, we see that the Kents are overprotective of him; this was mostly born out of a fear that people would learn of his unearthly abilities were he to unknowingly exhibit them in public. I think Jonathan feared that Clark would forgo what he was taught [remember the lecture following the bus scene] and fall back on his natural instincts to save others were he in a situation where multiple lives were at stake.

I suppose you could also look at Pa Kent's behavior as a form of parental paranoia. Indeed, it wasn't the tornado that he was afraid of, it was his son's inclination to do what comes naturally to him: saving lives w/ his powers. By sending Clark back to the overpass, Pa was simply trying to reinforce control over him.

Just read Frank Grillo's comments about "Batman v Stupidman"

I glad no one from the DCEU talks trash about Marvel. Makes me respect them even more in that aspect.

I hope this doesn't start a DC v Marvel debate

Pa's death in the '78 movie always gets me. :waa:

"Stupidman"? Really?

Dear oh dear me, a D list typecast actor insulted this film, what ever shall we do. :o

I have no problem actors being biased. But "stupidman" is weaksauce and insecure, both him and Mackie.

If you have to do it, go all out like Momoa- "F*** Marvel."

Calling Superman "Stupidman" and proudly referring to himself by his D-list character's name, yes I feel reasonably sure he was just kidding.

Frank Grillo is obviously the mastermind behind the anti BvS agenda

He must be stopped

You're right. I didn't read the "I'm Crossbones part."

I do like him in that Purge movie.

I think the crux of the problem with that scene amongst folks who vehemently (and on occasion, emotionally) oppose it isn't with the execution (although the execution was flawed and heavily contrived), but with the basic idea behind it. People simply cannot fathom Clark's actions because they are so far removed from what the vast majority of people who do in such a situation. The desire to save a loved one manifests itself like a basic and instinctual human need and the idea that Clark, who was raised human and emotes like one, ignores this to indulge his father's (somewhat justifiable) paranoia is preposterous to some. It's pretty hard to sell a scene when the underlying concept of it grates against a person's deepest protective instincts.

I didn't dislike the scene as much as some, but I can fathom why it wouldn't work for them.

Who is Frank Grillo? Has he seen an early screening or something?

Edit: I see people seem to think he was just joking.

He's an actor. He's on the side of whoever pays his bills.
