Watchmen's amazingly directed. I've been teaching myself what cinematic direction was for over ten years, and film school has done nothing but validate what I've learned.

The question is, not "what does the film say?, it's "what does the camera say"?

^ For Nite Owl, everything.

But don't take my word for it.

Consider the words of the late, great Ebert who gave it a 4/4, Waid (who said it was as best as it could be) and yes, a true film fan, McWeeney (who absolutely loved it)

Add in the fact that Watchmen has a high IMDB score 7.6, a high metacritic user score 8.2, and tends to be listed consistently on the list of underrated comic movies.

Add in the fact that it's a high DVD seller for an R rated movie.

Or actually think for yourself and WATCH it. Don't demand Moore's original vision (that's what the book is for) but see if Snyder made a great story in its own right.

Honestly, I think I'd be a better director by watching Watchmen a dozen times, than by watching a lot of static, dialog-driven movies made nowadays.

So there are some rumours around, not really sure where they came from, but it seems during press conferences before the release people are completely forbidden to ask questions about Aquaman's cameo in BvS. Anyone heard anything of this nature?

Watching JLW and TOA back to back to get ready. I get the criticism, but not the hate.

If the source material wasn't near impossible to translate into film Watchmen would've been critically acclaimed.

Way too many reviewers cling on to the source material as their definitive rendition of the story.

Hell the same could be said for Man of Steel and 75 years of Superman history, everyone's got their take on what the definitive Superman is.

Still want clarification on of Shazam is part of this universe or not. Comments by Johnson suggest it is, but it's being produced by New Line, and Mark Hughes is under the impression that it's not

Not too much to do with Kristian and Dennis not completely drinking the BvS kool-aid, right? :hehe:

Yeah, that's actually part of it, I admit. As someone who is excited about BvS I want to hear others that are equally excited. Although, mind you I have very broad states in fantasy adventure genre films--and actually most of the films I have enjoyed most are Marvel properties. But it's also the other comments in general. The guys I mentioned that I do like have ways of explaining why they like what they like that are truly interesting to me (for more than just BvS).

Dude, wrong trilogy. I'm talking about their primes, not retired old farts a day away from the nursing home.

Supes is and has always been the leader. Batman is the Jefferson to Supes' Washington. Better?

But Jefferson is superior to Washington in every way...

I hope he is. Shazam is my daughter's favorite Leaguer. It's hilarious because I tried to get her into Supergirl and Wonder Woman.

Could not agree more. Watchmen is a masterpiece to me. I just recently got around to reading the graphic novel and I understand now why Snyder went with the ending he did.

I've watched Watchmen many times, and it's one of my favourite cbm's, but I'm yet to see the Directors Cut. How much better is it?

Well, Shazam is consistently included on the DC EU slate, including in the latest EW article. That strongly suggests that he is a part of the universe, even though he won't be a member of the Justice League.

That's the only version I have seen, so can't help there.

Maybe he will in JL Pt2
SHAZAM will probably be his origin story

How do we know he's not a member?
