Civil War Along Came a Spider - The Peter Parker / Spider-Man Thread - Part 1

That's a good point. I was originally not too enthused about Tony showing up in Homecoming but if this is the angle then I could live with it, especially if it's just Tony and not Iron Man. There's absolutely no need for Iron Man in that movie.
Yeah I agree Spidey is a solo hero for a number of reasons.
I also like how they fast forwarded over his origin story.
I wonder how it all happened in the MCU though.
MCU Iron Man is OP for all Spider-Man's villians. He could prolly take down Sinister 6 on auto pilot.

It has nothing to do with not trusting the MCU, but more so wanting to see Spidey shine on his own in a strong, well-made solo film again, as he did in SM2. He shouldn't need the MCU's biggest character (and star) to help him carry his own film.

And of course I want to see Spidey interact with other Marvel characters and heroes, but that's what movies like Civil War, the Avengers, and other crossover films are for.

I'm looking forward to seeing Peter and Tony work together on various technology and I thought they were great together in Civil War so I am anticipating that dynamic developing well.

I am also fully expecting Tony to suit up for a big action sequence or 2, they aren't paying RDJ that huge fee to not have the MCU's biggest character in on the action. I expect there will be more than one villain and perhaps even some sort of spider slayers that necessitate the team-up for the action.

Hoping the rumors of the Vulture being the villain are false.
Mysterio and Chameleon would be great. Throw in Eddie Brock as setup for the sequel and Norman Osborn, just to re-establish the character in the MCU (even seeing him as a rival to Tony would be cool).

I definitely want to see Scorpion, Shocker too.

Would someone mind explaining to me the second post-credits scene with Spidey? Was that just a neat gadget or was it supposed to be in reference to something bigger?

I've been saying this in the Homecoming forum: give me the JJJ/Scorpion storyline for Spider-Man: Homecoming. I think it would work great for Spidey's introductory MCU film. It would be smaller scale plot - which, honestly, would be nice for a change - and we'd get to see a villain we haven't seen on screen before.

It's a reference to the spider signal he used in the comics to startle enemies.

I thought the film was so good but that Spidey post cred scene just did nothing for me.

Is it a controversial thought that while I enjoy Tom Holland's portrayal, I still found myself longing for Andrew Garfield. Just imagining him with the material provided in Civil War and reacting to RDJ and Chris Evans' makes me wonder how special that could've ended up being.

It would be fun to see Chameleon as the first villain. 1) Because he was Spider-Man's first villain and 2) because he would be unlike any villain Spider-Man has ever faced in the movie and you can keep the scale of the movie small.

If anything, I do hope that Spider-Man learns to somewhat break away from Tony Stark in "Homecoming", realizing that he should follow his own path and not be completely influenced or adhering to Tony Stark's ways.

Honestly, I wasn't really into the previous Spideys, but OMG I LOVE THIS KID! He's just so sweet and earnest and endearing. I want to watch all the things with him in them.

Although....isn't he ideologically with Team Cap, considering what he says about it being his fault if something bad happens and he has these special powers? :o Maybe that'll be his arc in Homecoming, to stop getting sweet-talked so easily by Tony and stand up for what he REALLY believes in. :oldrazz:

I'm fine if they choose Vulture. New for the franchise and not a bad villain.

I wonder how they'd differentiate Vulture from Falcon. Maybe he even steals one of the Falcon wing packs from wherever they're stored.

it seems like many newer fans underestimate spidey's power. So,even asking how can spidey easily blocks bucky's metal arm punch. i pity them.

What music is playing during the 'QUEENS' scene?

Yeah this baffles me. Spider-Man is ridiculously strong.

Watched it again.

Jesus, Spidey just gets better and better every time:

You have the right to remain silent.
The quote from Falcon in my sig below, and the reason for it.
The Empire reference.
His landing poses straight off the comic page.
Crawling around Antman's head.
The way his eyes bulge when Bucky slings the debris at him from behind.
The mask half off, half on at the end of the fight
.

Just too good

Yeah, i noticed that too. The living room came off like they were a family that had money, not one who was bearly getting by….

When you move to an Apartment from a house after someone dies the apartment tends to be full and decked out.

It looked like it had menu's and control on it. I wouldn't be surprised if he can adjust his shooters somehow through it, or his lenses, and of course contact Tony, and other cool spiderman stuff that we don't know about yet.
