Am I the only one who sicks of hearing about 9/11

Perhaps it's because I don't put any stock in anniversaries in first place (including my own wedding anniversary, birthday, etc.), but I do think we should "move on" in that 9/11 doesn't need to take center-stage in everyone life because it happened exactly so many years from said date. Obviously, the lives taken should be respected, obviously, we should "remember" the tragedy and make all efforts to prevent it from happening again. But I don't think any one date should have any more or less significance than another. We should be respecting and remembering everyday, so I don't feel the need to "come together" just because it happens to be a certain day on the calendar; to me, that feels fake and forced.

Couldn't have said it better  I feel exactly the same about birthdays and anniversaries also. This need for the media to regurgitate past events sometimes goes a bit overboard.

Sometimes it does annoy me but I know that's just how these things work. Yes, it's sensationalism and many times it seems in poor taste. I saw one news broadcast where the ancor said that we were "commemorating the terrorist attacks." Now that's just bad writing. That's not what we're doing. Or not what we're supposed to be doing. We're commemorating the people who tragically lost thier lives that day and the heroes who helped save those they could. One of the keys to defeating terrorism in my opinion is not to be terrorized and we continue to obsess about this and not really move on. Eventually 9/11 will be turned into a national holiday and people will get to stay home from school for it. And that's what they'll know the day for. Stay home from school day. But then old curmugeons like myself who lived through it will enlighten them about what the day means and they'll be like "oh, Grandpa, that happened 60 years ago. Why should I care?"

LOL
omfg another straight-ass conservative complaining about people complaining about marking 9/11.
Why don't you just **** and leave the USA already, since you obviously can't stand the tenants on which it was based?
LOL

Ok....maybe 9/11 is a conspiracy but it's no reason to blast the fact that innocent people lost their lives.

This day should be remembered for the people that lost their lives and the people that gave up their lives to help save the innocent.

We could go on all day about all the whos hows and whys and who to blame but this is a day to remember those unfortunate to have died in this act of terror.

Im sick and tired of candy ass liberals whining about the invasion of iraq. ****

It's been over 11 years since the Oklahoma City Bombing; and yes on the 10 year anniversary there was alot of press and even nationaly broadcasted specials.

I knew that we were either coming on ten or fifteen - I just couldn't recall which one... so I flipped a coin. :o

Please, propaganda anyone? Bush and other people who constantly want people to feel sorry for america and get away with it's crimes because of that day, are the people who show an utter lack of respect for all those who died.

okay, your saying that bush and all them are using today, for political reasons... well your using today as a way to bash bush, so your just as bad in a way, using 9/11 as a way to ***** about politicians.... today should not be about politics, but about rememberance...

Yeah, I'm totally sick of the 9/11 bull****. I'm a college student in a small Kansas town. The people that died were the commanders of financial hegemony and oppression around the world, living and working in New York City. I had nothing in common with them. If one were to select people that deserved to die, if one believed that anyone ever deserves to die, one might start with people like them, and probably religious oppressors and political figureheads.

Why should I care about this event? It's not the event that bothers me. It's the impacts, the way it was used to justify evil that was astounding, even by the standards of the USA. I will mourn those impacts, those abuses of the event, every day for the rest of my life. But I won't sit around pretending to be moved by something that doesn't bother me, just because it happened five years ago today.

I'm a American and I've never understood why Americans like to celebrate bad things all of the time.

What we really should be focusing on is the awful hitler-like Bush who starts Wars for no reason what so ever.

What say all of you? Should the world continue to focus on a day thats long past or the unjust war in Iraq?

I totally agree with you, I was sick of hearing about it 3 years ago in fact.

yeah, the father and mothers who worked there to make a lving and feed their children deserved to die,... same with the people traveling on the airplanes, flying to take a family vacation or to visit loved ones... yes, they all deserved to die....

honestly man, shut the hell up... you have NO IDEA what you are talking about.... so funny how these "college" kids think they know everything about the world... when in reality you no nothing about life... grow up, grow up fast...

And if The Joker agrees with you, you know you're on the wrong track. :p

Today is not a day of celebration; it’s a day of remembrance. Today is not about how 9/11 happened; it’s about who was lost on 9/11.

I’m all for holding Bush’s feet to the fire about the war and many other things; just not today.

This is 100% true. Also, Bush isn't evil, just stupid :o

It's only once a year. If youre sick of hearing about it then dont go outside today/watch tv/read the paper. Because no matter how much you cry and whine, 9/11 will always be in history. Deal with it
