AMALGAM character REDESIGN thread

Here are some of mine:

I posted these on another thread, or two, but they are amalgams.
DC+Marvel

MrOctopus.jpg
freezeoctopus.jpg

Doc Ock + Mr. Freeze:
Doctor Victor Octavious is a genious scientist. In his research he uses a robotic suit which also utilizes extra limbs. (Perhaps his research is in cryogenics, maybe it cold fusion, maybe cryogenics utilizing nuclear power).
In a freak accident there is an explosion, grafting the suit to his body.
Or
there is a freak accident, an explosion that forces Dr. Octavious to only be able to stay alive in sub zero tempuratures. He converts his suit, and because of the weight he must also use the extra limbs.
As you can see, I haven't settled on an origin. Just a look. (I like the smaller one)

thegoblin.jpg

Green Goblin + the Joker = The Joker Goblin
Norman Osborn was a ruthless, cut throat, businessman. He was also Under the thumb of a very powerful crime lord, the Kingpin. One night the Kingpin called, told Norman he had to sneak into his own lab with a few thugs and steal the super soldier serum his company had been working on. But it was all a set up.
Osborn was meant to die that night. But Spider-Man (Batman + Spider-Man) busted it up, as well as the police led by Comissioner Stacey.
During the whole scuffle Norman was fell over the edge and nearly fell into the vat of super soldier serum his company was experimenting with.
Spider-Man tried to save him, knowing it was the father of his best friend (Harvey Osborn). However Norman's hand couldn't hold on and he fell into the vat.
The result was the Joker Goblin.
His already unstable mind became even more cracked as well as smarter. He also gained super strength and agility, like an athlete at his peak. However his skin had turned green and scaley. His ears became big and pointy. He became freakish looking.
Breaking into his weaponry, Osborn stole vital tech his weapons lab was perfecting. A glider, pumpkin gas bombs, and others.
The Joker Goblin made Peter's life a mess. Found out Peter's secret, killed the love of his life, and destroyed his son's life (Harvey) as well.

2faceharry.jpg

Harry Osborn/Green Goblin II + Harvey Dent/Two-Face = Harvey Osborn/Two-Faced Goblin

There is a whole goblin dynasty, so here we go:
Norman faked his death, and tried to manipulate his son (and Peter) into becoming the new Green Goblin. It ended with Harvey's faced getting scarred and Harvey gaining half the strength of his father.
Harvey also developed, perhaps from the chemicals, a multiple personality.

harliquingoblin.jpg

Harliquin Goblin
She was Norman's psychiatrist in prison. He manipulated her, and messed with her head. She has no super powers like Norman, but she does use a lot of his weapons. She tends to act like a lacky, or a messenger, but occasionally tries to cross the Joker Goblin and strike out as her own crime boss.

kraven.jpg

Kraven + Bane = Bane the Hunter (or the Hunter Bane)
A Kraven was a Russian criminal who was experimented on in prison, and gained animal like abilities, speed, strength, stamina, agility, senses. He broke out of the prison, late he began hunting.
His "venom" only works for a limited time, he must take more. it wasn't until Spider-Man appeared in Gothem, New a York, that he thought he had found his ultimate pray.

Nightmare.jpg
nightmaresketches.jpg

Scarecrow + Mysterio = Nightmare

Apaqualypse w/ cape variant

32zj11c.jpg

Artisean do you have a bit of a story for Lightning bug? ( the one in the right hand corner of Bane the hunter) he looks really cool and also great pairing!

At a glance I'd say it's a cross between Electro and Firefly.

Yes, it is Electro + Firefly (= Lightning Bug). Not sure of his origin...YET.
Or how he should look besides his helmet.

azreal.jpg

Azreal + Venom = ?
Again unsure of his origin and name, and a little on his looks.
He could be somewhat of a stalker who wants to be Spider-Man.

clayman.jpg

Sandman + Clayface = Sandface or Clayman
Matt Marco, or Cane Haggen, (going with the Animated series origin for Clayface), was an actor who got under the Kinpin's thumb. He then was forced to become a petty thug, hit man, thief, anything the Kingpin wanted. Matt (or Cane) was arrested and sent to prison. Again upon the Kingpin's request Matt broke out of prison. Kingpin even told Matt where to hide on a beach, one of his hide outs. Secretly Kingpin saw Matt as a loose end, and something holding him down. So he sent Matt to hide on a beach where there would be nuclear testing.
But like in Marvel's Spider-Man, or in Batman's comic, he was mutated and turned into a clay (or sand) creature. Able to manipulate his form.

redskullandrasalgoul.jpg

Ras al Ghul + (Red Skull?) = some name that translates into Red Skull, like how Ras al Ghul translates into the demons head.
Not sure about this combination.
He uses the Lazarus Pits but the pits deformed his face.

rasaldoom.jpg

Ras + Dr. Doom = name that translates into Doom?
Not sure about who to combined with Ras.
He uses the pits to stay alive, but must wear the suit of armor because it scars his face and body, and maybe leaves him a little weak.

killerrhino.jpg

Killer Croc + Rhino = Killer Rhino
No real story to go with him, except maybe he was born this way.

RasalGulClayManKillerRhinoBanetheHu.jpg

some sketch ideas: Ras + Skull, Sandface, Killer Rhino, and a Venom + Kraven idea

How about Venomzeal for that one combo which I love by the way.

I call this guy Last Laugh

this idea has lot's of possibilites I don't generally dig heromachine but can't deny matchup. you should do in on hero machine 3.

I'll work on it :)

DC + Marvel = Amalgam

robbygordon.jpg

Commissioner Jim Gordon + (Captain Stacey or Robby Robertson?)
Gordon and Stacey were both cops, both accepted the need for a super vigilante like Spider-Man or Batman. But Robby was more of a main character like Gordon is. So I am not sure who to combine Gordan with.

vulture.jpg

Penguin + Vulture = ? (not sure, but some bird related name, simple like Penguin or Vulture)

spider-manandgoblins.jpg

More sketches and ideas about the Goblin Dynasty, and history.
Harvey Osborn, son of businessman Norman Osborn, and childhood friend of (Peter Wayne or Bruce Parker?). In the past Harvey craved his father's attention and approval. Then one day he turned his back on it all, his father, the family business, and the fortune, and went to law school. He became a lawyer and became a DA.
But then his father returned into his life, wanted to take over the family business... as the Joker Goblin.
Osborn had faked his death months before. Everyone thought he was dead, even Harvey. He went to his father's funeral, even tried to make amends with his late father. Norman visited Harvey, making Harvey think he was hallucinating or seeing a ghost. He wanted Harvey to take his place. He guilted, tormented, and tortured his son. Told his son this would make amends.
Harvey became the new Goblin, but this time used a mask and costume, as well as the usual Goblin weapons.
It didn't go as smoothly as Norman's run as Joker Goblin did.
Ultimately ending with Harvey's face becoming scared, the chemicals messing with his already fragile mind, and making Harvey hate both his father and Spider-Man.

catwoman.jpg

Black Cat + Catwoman = ? (Maybe just keep it Black Cat or Catwoman?)
Selina Harding was an orphaned girl, who may be able to trace her roots back to a local crime boss, but was adopted by the rich Harding family. There she grew up with everything she could possibly want, but she grew bored. As a young woman she began to look for excitement. She would search it out, danger and thrills. She even resorted to stealing and crime.
When Spider-Man first appeared in Gothem, New York, she had found it. She became the cat burglar (Catwoman or Black Cat).
She acts like Marvel's Black Cat, or DC's Catwoman. She flirts with the hero.

mysterioriddler.jpg

Riddler + Mysterio idea
Who would be combined with who? Or Whom?
If Mysterio combines with Riddler then what about Scarecrow? and vise versa?

DCplusMarvel_FantasticPatrolFour1.jpg

Doom Patrol + Fantastic Four = Fantastic Patrol
Mr. Fantastic + Giant Woman
Invisible Woman + Mento
Negative Man + Human Torch
Thing + Robot Man
Dr. Niles Caulder + Victor Von Doom
story to come soon...

How about Birdman?

Riddler + Mysterio idea
Who would be combined with who? Or Whom?
If Mysterio combines with Riddler then what about Scarecrow? and vise versa?

Hm. If it was Riddler/Mysterio, I'd say call him Enigma. If it's Scarecrow/Mysterio, just call him Fear.

Venomzeal sounds good to me. As does Birdman, Fear is good too. I was going to call Mysterio + Scarcrow, Nightmare. But Fear works too.

Hey, I never mentioned my idea for Spider-Man:
Batman + Spider-Man = Spider-Man
Peter Wayne (Or Bruce Parker, probably Peter Wayne though) lost both his parents as a young boy, they were gunned down in an alley by some low life criminal.
maybe it is at this moment that Peter vows to start a war on crime. Or maybe its after his Aunt May Parker, who he was living with after his parents were killed, was gunned down in his teen years. Leaving Peter and his Uncle Ben Parker alone.
(You can tell I am not sure on his story either.)
But I am sure about this, Peter is like Batman. He has no powers, only extreme training. but unlike Bruce, he isn't a rich handsome businessman. He is an average guy. He used the inheritance from his Aunt, and maybe his parents, to fund his War on Crime.
Peter's Uncle Ben is a butler, but also a retired SWAT, CIA, FBI, military, whatever you can think of. He has been there and done it. He decides to help Peter, maybe because he lost his wife too.
Peter uses a secret utility belt he hides under his costume, as well as utility wrist bands he also hides under his costume. He wears all black, like the black costume Marvel's Spider-man wears.
I haven't decided if this Peter/Spider-Man jokes or is serious like Batman.
Maybe he makes deadpan, sarcastic, grim jokes. (not sick jokes, just his humor could be a little dark.)
Should he make jokes? Should he be like Nightwing with his humor? Should he be like Spider-Man (marvel)? Or should he be grim and humorless like Batman?
Maybe as Peter he is grim but as Spider-Man he makes jokes. Or vise versa?

Now, here is the Dr. Doom and the Fantastic Patrol, details:

DOOM_COVER_001.jpg

NilesVonDoom.jpg

Dr2.jpg

Dr. Niles Caulder/Chief + Dr. Doom = Dr. Victor Von Caulder/Dr. Doom (Or Niles Von Caulder)
Reed Dayton, his college roommate Victor Von Caulder, Reed's college friend Cliff Grimm, his girlfriend Sue Storm (later Sue Dayton), and her brother Larry Storm, went into space on a scientific expedition. Part of Reed's and Niles' research. But were bombarded by strange cosmic rays.
When they crashed to Earth they found that each of them had amazing new powers:
Reed could manipulate his body's size, shrinking or growing. And called himself Elasti-Man (seeing as Elastic Man was taken?) (Maybe he called himself Elastic-Fantastic, or Mr. Elasti)
Sue gained the power of psychokinesis, flight, telepathy, and intangibility. And called herself Mento
Larry now had the power to project an firey "astral self" capable of flying, intangibility, and generating forms of fire. He took the name Negative Torch
Cliff transformed completely. He became a living robot. He now was also super strength and endurance, robotically enhanced speed, vision, and could now repair himself like any machine. But he could not return to a human form. He became the Robot
But Niles gained no powers, none at all. He instead became crippled.
Victor (or Niles) and Reed formed the Doom Patrol, a team of adventurers and scientists dedicated to saving the day and solving the mysteries of life.
Dr. Niles (or Victor) Von Caulder took the code name Dr. Doom, after the name of the team. He sort of acted as the team's leader from the sidelines, monitoring and commanding things from their base. Slowly his own ego, jealousy, anger, and arrogance, began to show and destroy things between him and his team. He left the team, not telling them where he was going or when/if he would be back.
Later on he did come back, as the villainous robotic armor clad Dr. Doom.
Perhaps the team later renamed itself the Fantastic Patrol. (or myabe they were called the Fantastic Patrol from the beginning.)

Joe Chill + Wilson Fisk/The Kingpin = The Kingpin
When Peter Wayne was very young he watched his mother and father get gunned down in an alley on the way home from a night at the movies.
This act of murder started Peter on the path he would take to become Spider-Man.
But whatever happened to the thug who killed Peter's parents?
His name was Joe Chill, if that was even his real name. As a young child he was a small time thug, a petty crook. As a young man he began working for a crime boss as an enforcer. Slowly he rose up the ranks, until a hostile takeover made him the new crime boss.
It is unsure when Joe became Wilson Fisk, or if he was originally Wilson Fisk and Joe was a fake name, but Wilson Fisk also rose to power.
Like Lex Luther in the DC universe, or Fisk in Marvel, Amalgam's Fisk was a prominent and powerful businessman. His criminal life, while almost intertwined with his successful business life, was kept such a secret that it is virtually impossible to actually connect Fisk to the Kingpin.
Kingpin has ties to Norman Osborne, Black Cat, the Daily Bugle, Matt Marco, among other criminals.
As "The Kingpin of Crime" in Gothem, New York (as well as Hell's Kitchen) Fisk became the most powerful crime boss.
Wilson Fisk, AKA Joe Chill, AKA the Kingpin of Crime, was the man who killed Peter Wayne's parents, he is now the man running crime in Gothem, New York.
A showdown between Peter/Spider-Man and Fisk/Kingpin seems inevitable.
I wonder how the criminals in Gothem, New York, would react to discovering that Fisk created Spider-Man.

That Penguin idea reminds me of this crazy batman novel I read full of short stories. One had a a crazed penguin tired of being a laughing stock and he decided hes going to take on vulture characteristics. So he starves himself till he is skinny then he kills people and animals to create a costume of skins including enourmous wings that let him glide. He adds things to his feet like claws and starts to eat human flesh it was pretty crazy.

Do you have any pictures of that comic? Or Maybe know which comic it was?

Here is an Amalgam bump of sorts:
WolverineCyclops.jpg

Cyclops + Wolverine

More to come later...
like now

DC+ Marvel = Amalgam
m.jpg

Dr. Midnight + Daredevil = Midnight Devil (or Devil Midnight, or Dr. Devil, ?)
Matt McNider grew up with a just his dad to take care of him, his dad was a boxer.
He used to always tell Matt to make something of himself, so Matt worked his way to becoming a doctor.
(I am not sure when he became blinded but super, as a child or as a young adult. )
But now, in the present, Matt is a doctor in a small clinic in Hells Kitchen, so small that they are just scraping by.
Matt also is the Midnight Devil, a vigilante of Hell's Kitchen.
Kingpin is one of his biggest enemies.
Like Dr. Midnight or DD, This Devil Midnight (or whatever) has the same blindness but heightened senses thanks to radar vision.

An Idea for DC + Marvel = Amalgam
SuperHulkcropped.jpg

sup089sb.jpg
SuperHulk2.jpg

Superman + Hulk = Super Hulk
He is a Kryptonian who was sent to Earth, because his home planet was exploding, but the Earth's sun had a strange and unexpected effect on his DNA.
In times of stress or anger Clark Kent's body transforms into a giant green hulking monster.
He is called the Super Hulk in the papers.

I love superhulk that would be insane:grin: It wasn't a comic it was a novel so no pics. I don't remember the name I donated to the library.

Great Dr. Midnight looks like a Timm drawing really good and I would understand the match !

Thank you. I thought it sounded like a very different idea. Plus Superman had already gone through a hulking over powered thingy so that helped.

I was drawing a lot of Amalgam characters in the Timm style, thanks for noticing. And I am glad you liked it.

Your welcome I'm a fan of your work
Well, thank you very much. Glad you are.

Here is some more

l_f3cc1b9dcaa415e25fbe3c17e3ce57da.gif

(I didn't make this by the way)

I merged Batman and Spider-Man because of some similarities in their comics, both have some of the most interesting villains in comics, both lost loved ones greatly influencing their life's as vigilantes. But I wanted to try something else,
I was inspired by Blue Spider, from page one, Spider-Man and Blue Beetle are very similar in personality and were both created (or co-created) by Steve Ditko.
And so...

Spider-Man + Blue Beetle = Red Spider
GoldenAgeBlueRedSpiderBeetle.jpg

GoldenAgeBlueRedSpiderBeetlecolorro.jpg

The original Red Spider:
Ben Garret (Uncle Ben Parker + Dan Garret) was an archeologist who found a mystical Spider medallion. The medallion granted Ben super strength, speed, durability, and invulnerability.
During WWII he fought along side heroes like Super Soldier and, calling himself the Red Spider, was hailed as a hero. His costume is similar to the original Blue Beetle, except that his chainmale is now webbing.
Flash forward more recent times. "Uncle Ben" is now taking care of his nephew Peter with his wife, her sister's son, after they were killed in a plain crash. Ben has retired, from his daily job and from being a superhero. Peter first came to live with Ben and May when he was only ten, now Peter is a senior in High School.
One day Ben is forced out of retirement and becomes the Red Spider again. Peter just so happens to be near and accidentally distracts the Red Spider. He is shot and the villain got away.
Peter is shocked when the Red Spider calls out for him. Peter removes his mask and sees it is Uncle Ben.
Ben gives Peter the medallion and asks him to carry on as the new Red Beetle. Peter promises.
Later Peter tries to use the Spider Medallion but is unable to, but he made a promise to Uncle Ben, he is responsible for his death.
so...
GoldenAgeBlueRedSpiderBeetle2.jpg

BlueRedSpiderBeetle2rough.jpg

Peter Kord (Peter Parker + Ted Kord) creates weapons, an armored suit, and using only his athletic ability and his inventions, becomes the new Red Spider.
Peter finds that Uncle Ben also had a Spider-Mobile, and with some modifications Peter makes it the "Bug". a flying spider looking vehicle. (A reoccuring joke is that Spiders don't fly)
Peter has a hard time at first because he is still in high school, he finds out that now the public sees the new Red Spider as a vigilante and a menace, and he has to keep this life from Aunt May (who may or may never have known about Uncle Ben either).
One of Peter's inventions he uses the most is his Spider-Gun, it shoots a type of webbing, or a blinding light. All his weapons are non-lethal. He also has "Spider-trackers."
Peter's costume comes equipped with buttons and triggers, some to contact his "Bug" and others for other reasons, he also has webbing under his arms to allow him to glide better.
Peter has no powers, and sometimes uses inventions like night vision goggles.

Heres the back of his costume, minus the webbing:
ReverseBeetleback.jpg

Or maybe instead of Spider, maybe its Beetle-Man:
Beetle-Man.jpg

Beetle-Mancolorsrough.jpg

See, instead of a spider its a beetle logo. His costume is still red and blue, but no webbing.

Here is another costume idea for the Red Spider:
BlueRedSpiderBeetle3.jpg

BlueRedSpiderBeetle3colorroughs.jpg

Maybe there is no webbing at all.

I have tried to design a costume that evenly merges Beetle's and Spidey's.
And it got me thinking that there are a variety of different ways to merge not only their designs but the characters as well. Blue Spider, Red Spider, Beetle-Man, there are lots of possibilities.
Even mixing a character like Spider-Man with Batman, or Batman with Iron Man, or Iron Man with Steel, or Spider-Man with Blue Beetle, or Spider-Man with Super Boy, there are lots that can be done.
They were both, Blue Beetle and Spider-Man, designed by Steve Ditko you know.
(By the way, I traced these from pics of Blue Beetle and added my own costume design. It was quicker that way.)

Dunno if you know, ArtistSean, but the Beetle/Spider idea was posted on the first page even. :)

I know, it was titled Blue Spider. Its what inspired me to do these.
I just wanted to add in my ideas for it too.

Nah, it's all good and I wasn't criticizing, I was just saying "Hey, since this in on your mind, check this out, too"
